You speculate every day you carry dollars, too.

You're holding on to them in good faith that the government won't screw up horribly and devalue them somehow. And unfortunately, that is the case. It is just a matter of 'when' the massive debts the U.S. is carrying crash upon our heads. There is no such thing as perfectly 'safe', but you better bet I'd rather hold bitcoins in the long run than fancy green toilet paper.

If you wanna buy bitcoins now is a great time to and just hold them. If it goes down more then buy more and just hold them.
186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How low will it go? on: June 17, 2011, 08:07:40 PM
Has anyone even considered the possibility of highly organized social engineering and manipulation of bitcoin for various hidden agendas?

Yes, it may have already happened durrig the big drop. LulzSec sent a tweet at the bottom of the market with instructions to buy BTC while the "morons" were in a panic. That was the same weekend when a flood of new accounts showed up saying the sky was falling.

Again just buy and hold (and use) and you will be a happy camper

it will be years before the U.S. government will even understand how bitcoin works.

I guess you didn't hear about Bitcoin's lead developer doing a presentation about Bitcoin for the CIA, then?

sure but im referring to the political side that likes to play with earmarks

This kind of stable market has happened many times before in short time frames . Now if it is this stable still in July I would start to wonder what's up.
