America can seize natural assets by using its military. Currently imported resources are free for US (payed with printed paper). Any military operation will be much more expensive than that. |

I really don't think China and other countries will abandon the dollar anytime soon. If they wanted USD inflation, they could just sell all the U.S. treasury securities they hold. The entire reason they buy all these securities is to slow CNY deflation relative to USD. Countries with high trade surpluses with the U.S. would have the most to lose on USD inflation.
They don't sell bonds only because there is no use for all these money. You literally cannot buy anything with it. Free market is an illusion. And when whole world monetary system goes down - those wins who have real manufacturing facilities. Read China. |

You don't really need 21T$ for that. 1T$ is enough. Anyway, dollar-hyperinflation is around the corner. We had hyperinflation of major currencies in the past, and will have it again. 1M$ for BTC might be reached easily this way. Of course this won't make you super-rich :-D When it will happen? Right when China and other countries stop selling goods and resources to US for fiat paper. Maybe next year. Maybe 2015. |

А чтобы дешево и сердито - не думали брать обычный DCDC с внешними ключами, и выходное напряжение сдвигать ниже стандартных минимальных ~1.2В вставив операционный усилитель в обратную связь?

А что с поддержкой софта для майнинга/тестирования на процент ошибок? Есть ли что-то полуготовое, чтобы "прикрутил LPT/USB<>RS232 и поехал"?
Только под распи есть. Кстати там Тимуру еще 50 чипов пробных едет - если есть желание потестировать - могу попросить отсыпать. Эх, думал-думал - видимо не осилю строительство тестовой системы с разумными затратами времени, в основном из-за питания. Мне интересен был вопрос разгона с охлаждением элементами Пельтье/Сухим льдом. Вот если у кого освободится тестовая система - можете отдать мне под криогенные испытания :-) |

Интересен вопрос непосредственно майнинга тестовой схеме без RaspberryPi.
Т.е. интерфейс PC<>Bitfury, через USB<>RS232 чип аль еще как (LPT с level converter-ами?).

This is why sensitive electronics are manufactured in clean rooms. Will that chip even run with what looks like severe manufacturing defects?
It is not expected to work anyway after me working with it  When I am getting a chip - it's a one way ticket. |

3. Мораль - по SPI - НУЖНЫ rise/fall относительно резкие. И сделать их оказалось конкретно для распи очень просто - достаточно линии затерминировать на _50_ Ом - в итоге напряжение аккурат 1.8V остается, при этом конечно больше жрет распи - но он уже как полчаса нормально шлет данные на 50 Ом, получаются фронты около 3 ns, плюс форма сигналов очень хорошая.
Чтобы RPi не мучать - можно поставить копеечный буффер / буффер Шмитта серии 74LVC / 74VHC / 74AC рядом с чипом Bitfury :-). Но конечно сигнал от RPi все-же должен быть как-то терминирован - надеюсь там резисторы (на плате RPi) последовательно хотя-бы есть, чтобы не так сильно звенело. |

Круто  вот бы сравнить в таком же русле с чипами бабочек... Так я обоими руками за то, чтобы снимки BFL сделать. Но где-ж чипы взять? :-) Пока не ясно где их взять. |

Да, и самое главное - подобные утечки проектов и широкий их выпуск ПРОСТО НЕИЗБЕЖНЫ если делать проекты с этой глупой ошибкой(их вообще нельзя было делать под крупносерийные производства!). Не говорите чушь, никакой утечки проектов нет. Даже если вы привезете в TSMC 100 лимонов зелени, и возьмете в заложники детей их директора - они вам мимо кассы пластин с чипами не отсыпят. Это просто невозможно - это блин не гаражный кооператив. В конце концов, достаточно просто забрать с завода маски, и никто ничего не напечатает даже под страхом термореактальных пыток. Цикл же производства - от 6 месяцев если начинать от готовых масок. Если чипа еще нет, и его нужно разрабатывать/сдирать - то от года (те чипы, что выходят этим летом - в разработке с прошлого года). Те сроки которые тут озвучивали просто смешны :-) Ну и как справедливо заметили в английской ветке - на 110нм дешевле разработать с нуля (т.к. чип относительно простой для разработки, но не копирования), чем сдирать. That's second time for me  Recently I was looking into cheapest (5$ delivered) Chinese webcam - and it's the same engineering & logistics miracle (how on earth they managed to squeeze it all in 5$?  ) as bleeding-edge 22nm products. |

Anyone knows if the Avalon chips project is a sort of "hard copy" of the Icarus FPGA? It can explain why it has a structure like that (from the little that I know, the FPGAs are basically the same, just bigger and programmable). No, it's not a "hard copy" of FPGA. It might be based on the similar algorithm implementation, but that's the extent of similarities. By the way it's probable that you can't go lower than 110nm production process if you want to keep temperatures under control and maintain the QFN package. That's why BFL had to redesign the chip and use the FCBGA package, with that shiny upper surface (very vulnerable too, they have something of the old AMD Athlon Palomino CPUs). That is not exactly true. In CMOS you can always lower power consumption by an order of magnitude by lowering supply voltage & clock, and then compensate for that by using more chips (power drops non-linearly, so there is a benefit). Borrowing information from other products (i.e. systems on a chip like the ARM Cortex) 28nm is often a "die shrink" of an existing 32nm chip, so if Orsoc/KNC has already been able to make a 32nm chip it's not hard to think that the first prototypes will use this bigger (and less efficient) die, doing the shrink when everything is -almost- fine. It "should be" better, I still remember what happened when Intel launched the P4 Prescott series... You cannot simply shrink the die on the modern processes as it was possible at the times of 350-800nm technologies. You must redo almost everything - there is just way too much constraints, and too much changes with this "mere" 14% shrink. I forgot to mention that the BFL chip is made by Global Foundries with a production process of 65nm. Any links on who to ask to get a sample chip from them? |
