821  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CoinEX Official IPO @ Cryptostocks.com on: January 28, 2014, 11:07:49 PM
I don't believe you're thinking correctly about stocks vs. dividends. I bought several Volkswagen stocks in the past. The value of the stock went up and I made money. Along the way, I earned dividends as a bonus. If you spend $50,000 on a stock and expect the dividend to pay you back in full, you may not understand the purpose of those dividends, they are meant to be a bonus, not a complete ROI.

As an example, I believe everyone that bought Scharmbeck and Cryptsy early on made money, not including making dividends.
822  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CoinEX Official IPO @ Cryptostocks.com on: January 28, 2014, 10:14:37 PM
80 000 shares at 0.04 btc = 3200BTC which is 20% of the entire coinEx shares.
So CoinEx is about 16000BTC worth Huh
16000BTC is about 14 400 000 $
I am not sure it worth it.
And I am sure it's not going to be sold out any time soon (considering Cruptsy shares history)

In addition: "The first payout will begin in May 2014"  - So, no need to hurry buying Smiley

Sounds about right to me, Scharmbeck is .05 BTC x 1,000,000 shares = $45 M, Cryptsy is currrently .19 BTC x 500,000 shares = $85.5 M and so on. Was up to $171 M a month ago. Big numbers I know, but did you know that places like BTC-e have days where they make over $100k? And that's in one day. I can see CoinEX competing with Cryptsy very soon.

Note that 100,000 shares of cryptsy represents 20% of their revenue. That's how I got to the 500,000.
823  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CoinEX Official IPO @ Cryptostocks.com on: January 28, 2014, 09:58:21 PM
1) "Each share represents 0.00025% of the trade fees collected. For example, if CoinEX collects 100 BTC in trade revenue, each share would receive 0.00025 BTC" (taken from the cryptostocks offering) ==> there is no word on earnings from pool mining. Is it going to be included in feeShares? If yes, add this info to the offering doc.
2) What is your current overall volume? (for last month/week)
3) What are your earnings from mining for last month/week (in case it's included in the fee shares)

I have these same questions!

I see #1 has been updated and changed on cryptostocks.
As for mining volume, I can see the current rate for SHA-256 is around 27 Th/sec and Scrypt is like 560 Mh/sec. (pool + switchpool).

I don't know the exchange volume but I can see it has been growing quite a bit lately. A few months ago, I remember there was very little volume.. but it seems to be increasing now.
824  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / CoinEX announced its IPO today on: January 28, 2014, 05:40:21 PM
Good job guys, I'm seeing a lot more volume there lately. Especially with Mooncoin, Dogecoin, Infinitecoin, Earthcoin and Worldcoin.

Seems a new way people are using to double/triple their personal BTC's is to invest some into good services and exchanges that might have potential. Cryptsy really blasted off in November/December. Vircurex is well known, and now we are starting to hear a lot more about CoinEX. Would be cool to see another Cryptsy like site try to out-perform and out-class their competition.

You can find the official announcement here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=436746

826  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Coin to be Added to cryptothrift.com? on: January 24, 2014, 02:31:45 AM
Worldcoin will be the next Litecoin. Good business coin and name has great marketability.
827  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Worldcoin [WDC] mentioned on MSNBC's "The Cycle" on: January 10, 2014, 06:20:06 PM
My friend saw this on MSNBC and was asking me about Bitcoin, Litecoin and Worldcoin.
I told him to just check them out for himself. Funny, many out there hear about Worldcoin along side Bitcoin.
If I were Wall Street, it would be Bitcoin, Litecoin and Worldcoin all the way.
828  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Want to see how easy it is to buy Worldcoin [WDC] with Scharmbeck? on: January 03, 2014, 08:50:17 PM
Thanks for the video peek.
829  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarketCap.com - Market Cap Rankings of All Cryptocurrencies! on: December 25, 2013, 02:58:44 PM
I don't mean to complain, but why are we adding currencies with closed or single market exchanges?
The exchanges need to be distributed and public, such as cryptsy, vircurex, bter, btc38, btc-e, coin-trade, coine, coinex, etc etc..
This would let the public much better determine the value.

I believe you may want to begin using certain policies or the users may find this service unreliable and inaccurate.
One could easily create any coin and their own exchange and make the price any they wish, which really seems to be harming the reputation of coinmarketcap.com.

Just my 2 cents.

**Example policies could be that a coin needs to be listed on x number of exchanges first as to not artificially create a value, the coin needs to trade x volume as a minimum as to not artificially inflate the value, coin that are not completely 100% premined already, etc..

I'm just letting you know that all I see in chat rooms is how coinmarketcap.com is now completely unreliable due to a lack of these policies and people seem to be calling for a new site. If it were me, I'd try and fix this issue and restore faith in the site, as it has tons of potential.
830  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: POLL: Which coin should BTC-E add next? on: December 08, 2013, 02:00:59 AM
We had a decision to make when applying the first patch to Worldcoin. One of the items discussed was to correct the inflation model, the rate of coins produced. We were interested in halving the coins each month or so at first, resulting in the majority of the coins to be mined early on, but received an outcry from the community that this would be very bad for Worldcoin once that time was over. So we opted against it for this very reason.

The problem is, people will buy into QRK due to marketing, but most have no idea the amount of dumping that will take place. Makes for a dangerous investment. I think Quark was a great idea, but the 6 month instamine situation is going to be a serious thorn in their side for a very long time.

A prime example of fair coin disbursement.
Note: from May to August (week 1 on the chart) the reward was 60.
831  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] WorldCoin WDC | Coin of the Future | Instant Transactions | Launched on: December 07, 2013, 11:24:03 AM
Cant get this to sync no matter what I try.

Connections never go above 4 and then it usually drops to 0 shortly after. Have no issues with any other coins.

Supernodes hard-coded directly into next WorldCoin wallet. You can manually add nodes to your peers.dat file for now, or just close other clients and let WDC sync.
832  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Worldcoin [WDC] Confirmed Added to BTC.38 as of tomorrow. We're heading to China on: December 07, 2013, 11:21:17 AM
WorldCoin now on two Asian markets that I'm aware of.

-Bter.com currently lower volume but paired with BTC & LTC.
-Btc38.com where Chinese can buy directly with Chinese Yuan (CNĄ).

Next step, WDC/USD beta on Dec 20 #Scharmbeck #Bullish #WorldCoin
833  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC-e [Next Coin] - DATA on: November 23, 2013, 08:21:46 AM
isn't PTS, 5 mill market cap >>>>than WDC,

Yes, yet since this report is based off each coins 60-day trading volumes, and since PTS has only 16 days of data before the Nov 21, 2013 timeframe used in the report, it was not possible to compare.

pts 7 million

wdc 2 millon

I think pts would be a contender.....
*edited for Jubalix response below
Yes agreed, all coins are fair contenders, yet the numbers are based off trading volume, not value or market cap.
Exchanges make their income strictly based off BTC trading volume, which was used to compute this report.
I assure once PTS has more data to utilize, it will be added to a future report.

But to help out, using Bter.com as a current exchange, a volume of approx 6000 PTS was traded in the past 48 hours. If we use this average to compute for 60 days, the total 60-day average might be 180,000 PTS. And using the average value of about .009, the 24-hour trading volume would be approx 27 BTC per day, putting it just above CopperLark. As I mentioned above, this may be an unfair computation since there are not yet 60-days of trading to base numbers off of.

I would also advise emailing cryptocoincharts.info to add PTS to their archives.
A real-time API must be available for them to gather data from an exchange.

I hope I helped and thanks for reading Jubalix.
834  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CoinChoose - alternative site to show respective profitability of the alt coins on: November 22, 2013, 11:34:05 PM
Sure - might take a while to clear out of cache - but updated.

Great thanks... what number did you decide to go with on the updated WDC efficiency?
Watching it like a like a hawk lately, I've seen it as low as 95% and as high as 99%.
835  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: List of all cryptocoins on: November 22, 2013, 11:26:11 PM
I have to agree with some of the above as far as what needs to be updated.  But I think the categorization should be different, too.  There's definitely a lot of more promising coins in Purgatory than some of the others that are lumped in with it.

- WorldCoin and CryptogenicBullion deserve Minor status, with the #8 and #9 market caps overall and both with lots of development underway.

- Terracoin should go back down to 'Candidates' at best.  The hashrate has dropped so low that even newer coins like eMark (DEM) have a higher network hash rate on average.

I agree 100%

I've generated some data on WorldCoin if this helps.

Wow, don't you think if they were going to add WDC by now they would have.  What a sad Pump and Dump attempt.  Some people on this forum are really pathetic.
I'm merely reporting the data for the next 8 coins in line based on market cap and volume. I understand you disagree, but thanks for reading.  Smiley
837  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC-e [Next Coin] - DATA on: November 22, 2013, 09:04:55 AM
Here are the current market caps as the coins above are listed in the following order.

838  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / BTC-e [Next Coin] - DATA on: November 22, 2013, 08:56:10 AM
I've compiled data below to help determine that WorldCoin is most probable to be listed at BTC-e based on daily trading volume. For a coin to move to a bigger exchange, a moderate 24hr volume of BTC must be traded using that pair. Once that volume becomes too low, the pair is often de-listed.

This list of coins are the next 8 candidates (listed in order of highest current market cap) found at http://coinmarketcap.com.
The past 60 days of data were used from the logs located at http://www.cryptocoincharts.info. Date range was Sept 23 – Nov 21, 2013.

As another example, this pool at the time of this writing has about 40% of the WDC network traffic and currently displays that it is 96.45% efficient based on their logs. (see http://wdc.theblocksfactory.com/stats)

These are good points.  There are certain assumptions built in to my calculations that I will investigate whether they are still correct.

Thank you...
Here are 3 more pools with WDC statistics on the bottom-left portion of the page.
I cannot find any others with statistics that have a decent pool hash rate.
Honestly, I've seen the number fluctuate between 96.5% and 98.5%, so I would assume the average to be 97.5%.
