21  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Overclocking Thread - Share Your Results and Tips for others on: August 29, 2013, 09:44:24 PM
Hey slightly off topic.

Had a batch#3 running at 350 fine for a few days (110ghs). - Then the power went out. and since then It will run fine for maybe an hour before going down to 10-15ghs.

I've tried it at default settings (300) and it does the same thing. - Temps seem ok (under 75c) - Is there a reason for this? :S

lol I can't believe you bought an entire domain just to sell your rig. Smiley

GLWS
DICKHEAD it is from a old project, if i brought a domain to sell this i would be as stupid as you! go think a little bit

Considering you can buy a .com domain for under $10 and or FREE, I don't see it as being that far stretched.. I've done it before o_O
23  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Network synchronization - future problem? on: August 20, 2013, 05:10:38 AM

But ultimately, your machine is becoming a part of the Bitcoin distributed network— autonomously validating the rules of the network, preventing inflation and theft on its own terms and without depending on the honesty of other parties. This is no small task, and it's astonishing that it can be accomplished in just a few hours on consumer hardware.

I agree,

I guess its just that 1-2 years ago I think it would take maybe an hour or 2 to synchronize.. now its at least 10x longer, and im thinkin give it another year or 5 and it might take days? - this could piss some people off that need to do urgent transactions but don't have a pre-synched account handy.

24  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Network synchronization - future problem? on: August 20, 2013, 04:32:59 AM
in 10 years...
  - your internet will be way faster Smiley

I don't know about way faster... we're still stuck on 10 year old broadband technology today using a 100 year old copper network... my country sucks. Sad
25  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Network synchronization - future problem? on: August 20, 2013, 04:04:25 AM
I don't understand a whole lot how the bitcoin client actually works, however today I installed bitcoin-qt onto a new machine and it started synchronizing with "250" weeks behind? - after 10 hours it still has 54 weeks to synchronize.

Is it going through the history of every transaction of bitcoin? - in another 10 years will this take a month + to synchronize??

26  Economy / Economics / Re: Daily Transaction Volume is Nearing Record - What gives? on: August 20, 2013, 01:54:57 AM
Yes, but not productive ones.  In fact, gambling is a net economic loser.

Productive part of society? No. Productive part of the economy? Yes. What is the difference between selling oranges, weed, or poker chips? Economically, nothing. Each is a good being bought and sold.

No it's not.

Are you suggesting those who gain from gambling don't spend any of their profits?  Huh
27  Economy / Economics / Re: Investing in Bitcoin on: August 20, 2013, 01:37:07 AM
I have recently heard of bitcoin and decided to do a ton of research about it. Investing in bitcoin does seem to be enticing due to the ever growing issues with our current economy.  I'm from Canada and is going through the verification process for Mt. Gox. During this time I want to see what people would recommend in investing and how people reaping the benefits from it. What to do and what not to do! Also if digital currency does become the way we do business online how does the value of bitcoin translate to other digital currencies in the future. Would this have a negative affect?

Thanks!

-Jeev

Do yourself a favour and use any other exchange other than mtgox.

So really this is nothing more than a bitcoin themed souvenir that's valued upon the material it is made out of?  Huh

I'd take issue with that.  It is not at all a souvenir.  It is a currency, and not only is it bitcoin themed it has a role in the bitcoin ecosystem that is currently horribly vacant.

How is it a currency? - I can't pay for fuel with it and I can't pay for items through bitpay with it ?

Also how is there a vacancy in the bitcoin ecosystem? - That's the whole point of having a virtual P2P currency - nothing physical.

All your doing is trying to manipulate bitcoin into something it's not. All I see is a fancy t-shirt made out of silver saying "I <3 Bitcoin"

.... good luck to you.

We need to stop doing business in China. There are chip manufacturers elsewhere, there are probably a couple in the US. Pay the little bit extra.

Agreed.

Chinese typically have little values when it comes to customer service. All they give a fuck about at the end of the day is making a dollar and will try to take it any which way they can.
30  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Address with Avalon bulk chip payments now tops $8 million... on: August 17, 2013, 01:42:26 AM
But, if Bitsyncom still controls all those btc, how did they pay to produce the chips? I find it kind of doubtful that someone actually lent them millions of dollars.

Well exactly 1000 BTC are missing from the wallet which is roughly $1,000,000

Perhaps that was their total chip production costs and the rest is cream? - good business model  Grin
31  Economy / Speculation / Re: AVAdayTrader... I'm here to change your lives. on: August 17, 2013, 12:29:21 AM

I myself am still in training, I've been doing this with the help of a family member for about 2 months and up to now I am in the green to the tune of about 2000 USD. My "jedi" who's taken me under his wing has earned over 85000USD in the last 18 months.

33  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: A plea to Yifu on: August 14, 2013, 09:08:45 PM
I don't have a huge stake in this game, but a couple hundred is enough for me to treat my family to a couple of nice dinners or a weekend trip.

  • Why were the chips 4 weeks late?

Fuck your 4 weeks and family dinners. Why were our batch# 3's 12 weeks late??

Let's just face it. He's a dog.
34  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Other uses for Asics if not to mine cryptocurrencies ? on: August 14, 2013, 03:26:27 AM
So,

As a batch#3 avalon owner, I have come to the realization I will more than likely never make my ROI, and unless bitcoins increase several orders of magnitude the likely outcome will be to turn it off in the next few months.

What else can all of this hashing power be used for? Search for ET? Brute forcing things?

I know it will probably make a nice museum piece in another 1000 years but other than that... any suggestions? Smiley

36  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Store Batch 3 Status just went to "Refunded" -- now "Refund Processing" on: August 14, 2013, 12:09:32 AM
Yifu any input on when the refunds might be processed? Would be very helpful for managing expectations

Bump for our friend Yifu Smiley

Friend? He took your money for 6 months, fucked you over, failed to deliver.. and your calling him a friend?? o_O

wtf.

Not to mention didn't acknowledge many refund requests.. so now people like me who actually received the avalon won't even make ROI with new difficulty...

My refund request submitted by support ticket has been Ignored (Was sent over 4 weeks ago)

Received DHL Shipping info this morning.

GG.......... *sigh*
40  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon orders - batch #3 refund requests thread on: July 26, 2013, 07:49:25 AM
Still no refund for me either.  29 days and counting since first ticket was logged.

Unfortunately I was a little late with submitting the Google doc ticket, which I mentioned in it about the previous ticket that was logged on support.avalon-asic.com many days prior.

I really hope Yifu will still honour the refund!

What is this talk of a Google Doc? there was nothing mentioned about said document when Yuffie said to submit a "refund ticket" through the support website?
