221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE][ANN][CATc] Cataloniacoin 2-3 weeks on: March 16, 2014, 06:17:18 PM
Quote
Cataloniacoin is a professional & transparent decentralized cryptocurrency that has been designed to address several of the weaknesses of Bitcoin & Litecoin & Vertcoin.

Which weaknesses does it address and how?

Quote
Coins will be given away to Catalonia that prove their identity with their national ID chip-card so that they can start using their cryptocurrency for their purchases and financial freedom.

What will happen to unclaimed coins?

Quote
As the Bitcoin & Litecoin marketcaps grow it is likely there will be even more price volatility and commodity speculation, resulting in fewer transactions for goods and services as was originally intended with crypto currencies. As such, we as the development team felt it was best to create Cataloniacoin with a total coin supply of 15.110.000 Milion  CATc.

This makes absolutely no sense to me.

I'm sorry but do you guys even read the support tickets? I get totally random answers which are unrelevant for the issue I'm addressing.

Who said earlier another coin had stalled blocks today? 365 coin or something?

I am investigating something, definitely a major issue (not with FLT), not sure though if it could effect our network itself though.

I believe it was darkcoin

2) someone is spamming the chain with transactions.  I see tons of tx messages in my log files

There are no forks etc, no errors, so these are likely the only possibilities.

Someone spamming with transactions for POB reward maybe?

This doesn't have KGW implemented, right? Which is good if so... I was thinking that it might be the KGW exploit that they're talking about in the DarkCoin thread....

Do you have a link?

Hmmm, something wrong here? The 2 big pools stuck at >500% on the current round?

You mean 1000%+

I think I meant 2000%... i've seen long rounds before... but this seems very off....

42 minutes of no new block for the network. Seems a bit off.

Trading is absolutely confirmed to open tonight. Our team is extremely busy making the final preparations, so I am sorry of we are not as active on this thread as we normally are.

Estimated time?

Just saw that deposits on poloniex are available. But trading is not open yet.
234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AIRcoin - Professional Investment, No Fees, Rising Exchange Rate on: March 13, 2014, 11:18:06 PM
Are there any plans to sell some of the pre-mine at launch of an exchange or are you going to rely on the coins mined so far to determine market value by the miners selling them?

I asked a related question on the sub-reddit but still waiting for a reply there so might post it here too. My understanding is most of the pre-mine goes towards this investment pool used for trading. Do you need to sell AIR for BTC from this pool to fund the trading or will there be AIR trading pairs established by the exchanges or will there be some initial seed funding used for early trading?

The AIR will be converted to BTC or LTC (depending on available markets) to trade this investment pool, and then converted back to AIR when the pool grows, to raise the exchange rate or to counteract dumps. This is the primary way we stabilize the exchange rate. The pool allows us to leverage gains with this large volume. A 1% gain on a pool of 50,000 AIR equivalent allows us to counteract a 10% price fall in a market depth of 5,000 AIR, for example.

That's not really what I expected to hear. Basically means just another premine dump by the devs...
235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FlutterCoin FLT Official Information Thread on: March 13, 2014, 10:54:35 PM
we had a 1300% block, not sure why the hashrate has fallen to nearly nothing.

I think that figure is incorrect. Bitember + cloudminers + miningwith.us have 170Mh+ combined.
236  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FlutterCoin FLT Official Information Thread on: March 13, 2014, 10:31:28 AM
Anyone knows whats going on at bitember? Seems to be finding blocks but none show up in the transactions.

When can we expect trading at poloniex?

Waiting on some media contacts who will help cover the launch, but provided they come through, tomorrow is certain.

Looking forward to that Smiley

240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PIG] PiggyCoin - For youngsters and newcomers! Now on exchange! on: March 11, 2014, 06:33:45 PM
To keep it REALLY simple, you could just take the block reward down to 100 coins per block.  That will add enough age to the coin where you don't need to add a halvening or have more coins be created after the cap is hit as it'll take much longer to hit the cap and then we'll be established enough to rely on miner fees alone.
This is an excellent idea.  I have avoided Piggy so far because of the block reward setup.  If you do this, I would invest.

I will start a vote on this, if the community agrees we will do it.

Member MyFarm sent this "100 coins per block is still 72,000 coins per day and 26,280,000 coins per year.  That's a LOT, but MUCH better than what we have now.  As you are now, you're really NOT aimed to kids because there is no way you'll get a $.01 per coin valuation.  No kid is going to play with $.00003223 per coin valuation.  But with 100 coins per block, we can get a valuation of $.01 per coin in my opinion which kids DO understand.", and I think he´s right, that's just my position though, let's see what the community thinks.

Pretty bad idea imo as it benefits current piggycoin holders way too much.

What do you suggest? A bigger number than 100?

Keep it the same or implement a decreasing block reward. Premine was 21 million coins. This corresponds to 5250 blocks which is already quite a large number. By lowering the block reward to 100 it'll increase to 210000 blocks. Will pretty much lose all credibility of the coin if this goes through imo.
