1  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: March 20, 2023, 10:41:39 PM
so we can not use chipmixer now?

If private keys were not destroyed as advertised, there's no reason why sessions were destroyed as advertised either in my opinion.

I'm not programmer but if all private keys were derived from the same seed associated with the node, is it simple to delete single private key from the node?
I think there's a chance that all transaction data could have been deleted from local database associated with the website but not privkeys from the node due to some sort of complexity.
IMO. maybe 20% chance for this. Assume the worst.
2  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: March 20, 2023, 03:06:18 AM
Of course, we can't rule out the possibility that someone created their own chips, but my guess is the older keys weren't compromised.

When was the bc1 key transition announced?
To be clear, you suggest that the LE did not move funds on addresses starting with "1" but only in "bc1". What about addresses starting with "3", did chip mixer ever had these?

--
I'll also state what i said in another thread:

Fact is: chipmixer lied in it's claims to delete private keys.
I don't know how can anyone defend them after it was made clear by users. I suspect it's about the signature campaign, so ukhm.. corruption or Stockholm syndrome?
Therefore it is justified to assume that chip mixer ran from the very beginning as private honeypot for the owner and gathered all kinds of information.

Based on what was stated by LE - what kind of high-profile actors moved money through chipmixer, I don't think the vietnamese guy will be ever found alive, best case for him is to surrender to LE
Other people and some eastern 3 letter agencies might be looking for him to find out what the truth was. Not only law enforcement.
He not only f*** himself but also other people. Fortunately in many countries using such obfuscation services or receiving funds from them is not making you guilty of anything.

If the @Chipmixer guy had at least some honor, he'd post here what was stored so it's clear for all the people using his toy.
The fact that he's hiding, does not mean he has no access to the internet or that he is not watching our posts.

PS. 7TB can be either nodes, backups, or the forensics image of the whole drive/s including free space.

Also some stuff is hard to believe. Like the Hosting was bought by the suspect with his real, actual paypal account? I dont believe it Cheesy

Please read the whole indictment, it's not as simple as "he paid with his real PayPal account". One of his old associated PayPal accounts received money from multiple people and one sender was unusual.. that was his real paypal acc. They dug very deep.

There's more evidence present in the indictment.  The simple claim of sending money to someone's paypal account, which is associated with chip mixer might not be enough to have him sentenced.
This proves nothing, especially if the guy offered some PP -> BTC service that was misused by a shady customer.

They also traced TOR domain somehow to the real location where all backend stuff was present.
I suspect the method used to find the backend server behind TOR, might be related to the BTC node not running through TOR, but only the website. You can find out which node broadcasted the transaction first somehow, no?
5  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ChipMixer.com has been seized. on: March 19, 2023, 07:46:15 AM
ChipMixer boldly promised to delete all logs, don't keep confidential information and don't store private keys of payout Chips. It lied to everyone.

Unless you are somehow privy to information the rest of us don't have access to, it's yet to be established that ChipMixer kept logs.  We know that data was seized, but people are merely speculating on what that data might be.  If you could try fo keep any accusations you might wish to make evidenced by verified information, that would be appreciated.

There's not much to speculate.
Fact is that private keys which were supposed to be deleted were seized. Otherwise LE would not be able to move funds.

Based on this one lie from chipmixer, which claimed to delete full session information including private keys, you should expect more lies and that they stored all logs forever.
Including information which input led to generated private keys outputs.
6  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ChipMixer.com has been seized. on: March 16, 2023, 12:22:40 AM
People say it's sad for crypto but remember that ChipMixer also lied.
Chipmixer was never supposed to store private keys after session deletion and guess what? People had coins seized that they transacted 3 months ago, like me.
I already wrote about this situation in chipmixer thread.

Never trust centralized mixers on what they state.

Turns out chipmixer claims were a scam.
Even my chips which I had in chipmixer service for which they claimed to "delete private" keys after 7 days or whatever, were seized/transfered.
and these transactions took place good 3 months ago.

You can assume that they stored history on everything including input and outputs and this data is now in LE hands. Although in most countries using services like this is perfectly legal and they cannot accuse you of anything. Receiving coins that someone else obfuscated via CM and sent to you is also not illegal. You have to be proven that you did obfuscate these coins yourself, which is a hard case, assuming you used VPNs/TOR while using CM website. Regarding the data, even if they have now all historical transaction data, it is nothing new. All chipmixer addresses and transactions were easily visible in the blockchain even without the seizure of data - due to the unique chip size and very schematic process.

The operator of the website has a bigger problem cause they're gonna put him into jail for ages for creating this. Chipmixer grew too big and was part of ransomware schemas including high-profile hacks of North Korea. They accepted it and did not try to prevent it. Additionally, they refused to respond to LE contact when they seeked information in these cases by contacting chipmixer.

DOJ/FBI claims the operator of the website was identified due to OPSEC mistake where he sent funds to one of Paypal accounts associated with CM from his real identified Paypal account. Check page 32 of indictment. They digged very deep and even successfully probed ProtonMail for information, not a real surprise considering how big and popular the chipmixer service was.

They were also able to identify server serving TOR website hosted in Hetzner, it is not disclosed how they managed to find out the real IP address of .onion website. After finding the server they probed the PayPal account which funded the hosting service, checked the logs and found out chipmixer operator identity and now they can prove it was directly linked to funding chipmixer infrastructure/operations.

The amount of the charges he got is not really big for the scale of the service.

On website ezzo card say - "Worldwide billing address verification supported"

I purchased black card
- website 1 - not working, wrong billing address
- website 2 - not working, wrong billing addres

changed billing address to canada - still declined.

useless scam

Hello,

Though Black cards do support worldwide billing address and can be used with any real address when paying online unfortunately sometimes they can be declined due to AVS. Should this happen please contact us via Live Chat or send a message to support@ezzocard.com and provide your card number - we will choose the address (US) you can use!

Is it possible allowed to send multiple transactions to deposit address generated by chipmixer?
Yes.

Quote
Or should it be one transaction?

Thank you

Yes, i'm aware that this decreases privacy. I'd be great if you could generate multiple deposit addresses during same chipmixer session.

I also ran blockchain study on spending  chipmixer transactions and there are two interesting things i noticed:
- Most people, like 95%+ are combining the chips while withdrawing them. They do not withdraw/spend each chip to separate addresses.
- The 0.512 and bigger chips have very few spending transactions. The difference is very significant significant. 90% of spending transactions involve smaller chips

Data from 5-6 days of blockchain transactions.
Number of spending transactions involving given chip size

0.032 337
0.016 676
0.064 200
0.256 67
0.128 94
0.512 39
1.024 22
2.048 21

Based on these numbers, does using bigger chips due to fewer transactions seen on blockchain, have any negative impact on privacy?

Attacker gained access to our .com server IP at 2021-09-23. They used it to create two SSL certificate - one with Cloudflare (https://crt.sh/?id=5270080144) - second with Lets Encrypt (https://crt.sh/?id=5281011754).

How is this even possible? Do you host this on VPS or in some sort of shared environment? Was server's content accessed?
Consider changing the host

Buy a dedicated server with access to KVM (dell idrac/HP ilo) then do system installation with full disk encryption. Change all default passwords/keys
There's literally 0 ways how you can get access to server contents this way, assuming all applications running on server and your own administrative credentials are secure.

Even if they somehow social engineer hosting company to get access to dedicated server, they won't be able to access the server's content

All they can do is just format the server and put phishing/proxy version via mounting some iso in rescue mode.

Finding a hosting company which deals with social engineering attempts in decent way is another story

SERVICE DISRUPTION

Kindly note, clearnet mirror [banned mixer] is unavailable. We're working to recover it. Use the official Tor v3 address to access the mixer:

Please fix your email provider. I'm not able to send you simple support email from protonmail. Your server (yandex) is rejecting it because of spam suspicion .
There are no links in email message, nothing exceptional. Just few addresses and letter of guarantee.

Don't know if it is protonmail fault or yandex, but many people use proton and they will have trouble contacting you.

Other than this, the support response time is very fast. Used the service for long time.

Is there a chance what you tried to withdraw included a fee?

Nope.

In blockchain explorer the transaction is exactly as i stated 0.0340000, yet i received 0.033
I sent email to support, when i receive information whether it was some my mistake or a bug i will post here
16  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: March 06, 2021, 09:59:46 AM
chipmixer is behaving weird for me.

i sent 0.0340 and received 0.0330. It does not match increment rules they state.

Depositing 0.1240 BTC will result with 0.124 BTC funds.

anyone know why? Is there a new fee? Nothing wrong with it, but no information on website
I didn't use any merge chips features.

2. DDOS can be mitigated by:
- moving it to proper hosting provider with DDOS protection
- move entire web traffic behind cloud firewall (this would cause privacy issues, so rather not).
Both of them would cause severe privacy issues.

Unless you can 110% trust the cloud hoster (which really is impossible unless you run the entire hosting service as well), they shouldn't be used as they would be able to log virtually everything.

Eg. OVH deals very well with DDOS attempts and you do not pay anything and preserves privacy of customers.
OVH doesn't even allow tor software to be ran on it's hardware, and you're claiming they don't log anything, or won't do so if they're asked by a LE?........
Are you sure you know what you're talking about at all?

I think you  did 0 research before writing your post.

1. Where do i claim that OVH  dont log anything? I said that they preserve customers privacy (dont give data easily), but they're not BF provider.
2. Chipmixer is currently hosted on vultr. Which is not any kind of bulletproof provider either, but they dont have sufficient ddos protection. Therefore moving to another one would not be any kind of issue.
3. It doesn't matter what OVH allows or doesn't. Chipmixer is already hosted on similar type of hosting of American company and seems that they do not care.
4. Running TOR Exit node results with high number of abuse complains and IP blacklist, therefore it's normal that they prohibit that - totally faulty comparison to hosting mixing service.

If you host on non-BF providers, at least move to the one which has sufficent DDOS protection.

Quote
Are you sure you know what you're talking about at all?

I see that you completely aren't, since you're not even aware where chipmixer is currently hosted, and yes it's currently in Vultr cloud.
18  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: September 10, 2019, 01:12:04 PM
Use other mixer, i dont know how you can have situation like this twice within 6 days. What is this? hot wallet not being refilled? Applications stopping to work?
Probably is related to the DDoS? Servers don't run properly when they keep getting flooded by fake traffic.

You got to be kidding me... you can have processing done on other server than the one where website is hosted on.
If DDOS is disabling deposit processing logic on software level (not processing incoming deposits), it only proves amateur-job of the one who designed the system. No offense.

1. Move deposit processing to different server with IP unknown to attackers and one problem is solved.

2. DDOS can be mitigated by:
- moving it to proper hosting provider with DDOS protection
- move entire web traffic behind cloud firewall (this would cause privacy issues, so rather not).

Cost 1-3k monthly and you can mitigate most of these, but of course not all.
Eg. OVH deals very well with DDOS attempts and you do not pay anything and preserves privacy of customers.

Btw. 502 errors indicates rather resource exhaustion and weak server configuration with lack of enough workers to process incoming requests. This is little different than typical DDOS where server is totally unreachable.

Since months i use this service and everything was fine ... BUT

today i think i became victim of the known bug where the transaction is confirmed and there are no chips
already sent an email to the support of chipmixer ..

waiting for answer ...

i dont get it why they need 4 days+ to answer an email (as i read here in the thread) ..

Mixer is unreachable also due to DDOS for past few days (502), so i guess author does not care.. and he made enough money from it already, should be warning sign for this mixer already.
