41  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open ***full prototype pics*** on: September 27, 2013, 04:16:33 AM
I will be getting a powered USB hub and a Wi-Fi dongle for the RPi for internet access, as I do not have any free ethernet ports and I'm not permitted to have a switch.
I think you'd be better off with a gaming adapter (ethernet port to WiFi) than trying to get some random WiFi dongle to work.

I was thinking of this too.  Has anyone done a usb wireless adapter on a Rpi?

Yes I am mining with a starter kit via wireless.  No speed hit.  Used this guide and the micro wireless adapter on the same site.

FWIW my v2 bitfury is now mining on a wireless network.  The setup was painless and the adapter / instructions are here:

http://learn.adafruit.com/adafruits-raspberry-pi-lesson-3-network-setup/setting-up-wifi-with-occidentalis

No drivers needed, no speed hit, just followed those directions using the 11.95 micro wireless usb on the right.  Router setup to assign a static IP to the MAC address of the wireless usb.  Death to wires!

Its worth noting that after a sd card re-build, and using 2 workers and a pencil mod of 1.178k; I am getting a fairly stable average of 34.5 ghash/s, based on 33-37 ghash fluctuations.

Great result, any aftermarket cooling on your cards?

plz make "how to" step4step frob back up to chainminer upgrade manual for noobs like me)

ChainMiner for M Board Version 2.X boards
DO not use this guide for Version 1x m-boards.
It will fry your chips.  This is only meant for Version 2 of the M-board.

I apologize for grammar as I took 2 sleeping pills and I can barely feel my fingers.

1.login as pi or root

2.  type "nano /run/shm/.stat.log"   if you wish to see the performance of all the chips on your board before upgrading chain miner.
(optional step)
3.(backup your chainminer version)  (this creates a copy of the folder)
a. sudo cp -a /opt/bitfury /usr/bitfury.backup
b. cd /opt/bitfury/
c. pwd  (make sure you are in /opt/bitfury)
d. ls -al (or type dir)
e. rm -rf chainminer  (this removes everything in the chainminer folder)
4.  make sure you are in the /opt/bitfury directory and not in /opt/bitfury/chainminer (it should be deleted anyway
5.  type "git clone https://github.com/bfsb/chainminer.git"
6.  it should now start getting the chainminer git.
7.  now type "cd chainminer"  you should now be in the chainminer directory
8.  type "make"
9.  Its going to take 5-10 minutes to create the chainminer...maybe longer.
I got some warning but everything was fine after it all finished.
it will go back to a  bash prompt when done.
9a.  Just wait...this is the longest part of doing this change..
10.  sudo reboot

very nice! thank you very much! )

Thank you!  Went from 17 to 25 gh/s noncerate on a stock starter kit.  MISO errors from 40s to 0.
45  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: [GUIDE] BitFury Miner Support/Tuning on: September 25, 2013, 07:20:03 AM
My board is a Version 2.3.  If you have a version 1 M board DO NOT GET THE SAME CHAINMINER BUILD AS ME.

oh and as far as my results I left the resistor the same.   the new chain miner build definately improved results.

What I also noticed is there is a even newer upload on buzzdave's links.  Is it a newer build or older build??

I have the same board version, could you post how you updated chainminer?  git pull and git clone both didn't work for me.
46  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: **US** BitFury Setup Guide on: September 24, 2013, 11:22:45 PM
Thank you, I have a disappointing board with a 2 day hashrate average of only ~17 gh/s and a lot of MISO errors.  I'll update to the latest chainminer and see if it helps.  If not, I will return/RMA the board, rather than void my warranty by overclocking it.

NOTE: I was one of the late august orders and received a 4 channel 2.3 M-board. Comments in this post only apply to those with this board or later revisions.

I pulled the latest commits from the bfsb/chainminer last night and have improvement in the stability of my starter kit over the last 12 hours. Error rates have dropped from ~7% to ~2%. More importantly my previous MISO errors have nearly disappeared. The comments on the pull suggest that by increasing the spi reset rate stability should increase. The H-Card is stable at around 36GH/s. If you are going to pull the latest commits make sure to back up your current software AND make sure you have the proper hardware to do so.

I'd like to hear about other experiences with the new spi resets.

Very interesting  I have the 2.2 or 2.3 M-boards as well.   So you were at 7% error rate on one card, but now at 2%...pretty good.  What was your previous hash rate?  And what is your resistor reading at then, and what about now?

Sorry for the questions but I am very curious as to what will happen to my bad kit I got.

Does anyone have input on my underperforming board?  It looks like there are a lot of MISO errors but I don't know which chip is producing them or how to disable the chip.

My August unit has been running 24 hours now.
Consistently underperforming at a 24 hour average of 19 gh/s, looks like I will have to pencil mod it just to get the advertised hashrate.  Any tips on getting speed without modding?

Tracking method - when you spend the poison coin along with your other coins in different addresses, it proves they are linked together.
50  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: **US** BitFury Setup Guide on: September 22, 2013, 01:09:32 AM
It is possible you just aren't connecting to the pool.  Remember that you do not need the preceding http:// for the pool URL. The port should be 3333 and double check the worker name and pass is correct.

Lastly make sure all three sections of the proxy information is the same. That is not really to set up backup pools.

That is a feature I would like to see in future versions though. Smiley

Oh thanks!  I was putting port 8332 for the 50btc pool but changing to 3333 worked.

Having a problem getting the miner to start,

I changed the gateway and connected to the IP address of the pi through a browser.

I setup my pool and hit start, but the noncerate is stuck at 0.  I've tried different pools and stopping/starting the miner through the webpage but no luck.

Here is the output of my stat log:

So it looks like my chips are recognized, but aren't mining.  Is there a way to see a log of errors?  Any other suggestions?  I just got the v2 august starter kit today.

Thanks.

HI Dave,
Would you be able to check my order #148. I still haven't received a email yet.
Thanks

FYI, my order #149 was shipped today.  So yours was probably shipped as well.
Check the online store.

Edit - Just got the email with tracking # and site was updated.  Thanks!

Gox missing funds is bullish. Expect panic buys from those who still have fiat/"credit" in their account.

Perhaps the whale trades these past few weeks were the panic buys? Wouldn't surprise me if most of the large trades are based on info not available to the public.

Yup. I'm in fiat and  won't buy now; I'll wait for the nose   dive... Although it might be a 90% drop from $1000

Aren't you afraid of holding the fiat bag when gox finally implodes?  There won't be anyone willing to sell their BTC for goxbux once the news is official.

I guess this is the world we live in.  My team has been working 14 hour days trying to test and ship hardware to customers while also growing the mining operations.  I have been totally transparent in what is going on here as well as my plans and approach to dealing with challenges on multiple levels, while keeping it fair to the customers & investors.

In all other retail businesses, if a backordered situation exists, you will just wait.  I have taken steps to set aside hardware that will run on the behalf of customers in order to reduce their pain of waiting.  Of course I'm not running PPS at 7%, that's ridiculous.  Its PPLNS @ 3%.  If you have a problem with the pool fee, then let us know what your pool is and we'll make sure you get the 1 - 2% more coin.  If you want your share of NMC mined - whatever, send me an address.

Being transparent and screwing your customers still doesn't make it right.   Yes you have done a better job then every other asic company but because of you the people not receiving their rigs will never ROI.

I have an outstanding Aug order as well.  From what I have read I a NOT being screwed.  I am being paid for the time that my equipment should have been delivered to when it will be delivered.  The only thing better would be to receive the coin now vs later.  So long as I get the coin my equipment would have mined at this lower diff I am happy.  Or did I read what Dave said wrong?

+1 I'm ok with not having my august equipment since Dave has updated us with his plan.  Even though I don't have my order, it is hashing now with free upkeep and electricity until I actually receive it.

My package just arrived. I'm afraid to open the box.  Cry I'm having issues lately getting things done. I've had 2 ASICminer Blades in hand for 2 weeks and they are still in their wrapping. Ethernet switches, power supplies, UPS'... I think i'm just overwelmed. Don't get me wrong, I know all about this stuff, it isn't a lack of knowledge. It is just motivating myself to get it done. I'm slightly handicapped and it is sapping my motivation. Undecided

Oh man, that is BTC down the drain.  If you are within 2 hours from LA I will help you set it all up, I'm sure there are others near you who would help you.

Still waiting on my august order, no way to pull from the 18th you already have running?  I thought our boards would be tested in your mine for 24 hours only.

We are pretty unhappy with the USPS (supposedly) 2 day delivery.  Admittedly there was a holiday, but we saw a package that left here on Saturday take 5 damn days to reach Ohio.  This is totally bullshit - we dropped the idea of using USPS.  Everything is shipping FedEx.  It costs over $100 to overnight a starter kit, but this is the only reliable way to get these kits to you guys quickly.

Expedited shipping will be FedEx overnight (domestic).  Canada overnight might still work there - I'll check with Yvonne.

Non expedited shipping will be FedEx 2 day.

The problem we ran into is that USPS only guarantees 2 day delivery in "certain zones" - something they didn't bother to tell Yvonne when she was researching this.

Since Bitcoin mining is a game of days at this point, megabigpower.com will ship FedEx from now on, period.

We still have about 2 days of shipping left to do.  I'm expecting more product tomorrow, but there's been a back up of stuff in AK customs.  It should be cleared by now, but I can't tell by looking at the tracking info.  It says expected delivery tomorrow.

Cheers,
Dave

How are you balancing the remaining august preorders vs the 18 TH you have running?  Do we have to wait for you to get more boards?

So nice one..... i just killed my jala today Sad
i did flash the firmware from ckolivas , all was fine till then.
Plug in and the Jala wants to run with 60Ghash......only HW errors.
Then i tried to flash the 1.2.5 firmware and he did 500 Mhashand froze after 5 minutes.
Tried it several times and no its dead. Cant flash the firmware any more, the atmelchip gets hot, all leds are lightning.

So i waited 9 months and now i killed it.  Angry

Did you update your mining software?  I had all HW errors after flashing, had to update BFGminer.
