Been seeing some news about this ICO  more and more often got my attention. So, where can I read credible resources about this?

Recommend checking out the link collection on reedit as well. Tons of good information in one place.

I expected to see some info about the Huobi-Dash partnership, or at least a link to the read where it's discussed.

Venezuela’s economy is in free fall. The government says a digital currency is the answer.
(Ryan Taylor / Dash mentioned)

Nice! A mention in the Washington Post.

it was a long time ago since I have informed myself about the current dev status. does anybody know it? when is the evolution release?

https://github.com/dashpay/dash-roadmap
thank you! It seems I had a six senth for this:

DashPay Wallet Alpha (September 2017)

should be announced soon or?

It was already announced:
https://www.dashforcenews.com/dash-copay-multisig-wallet-first-step-evolution-heads-alpha-testing/

As I understand it is currently a closed alpha. That will likely change as things move forward.

I think Dash will bounce back as lot of people will begin to know about it as sponsor of Max kaiser's trip in USA. I personally expecting huge green candle over the next few days. It is looking very good to me based on my gut feeling because I don't know charts.

sponsored Max Kaiser  Shocked - not sure if he's the right person to deal with - check Startcoin thread, at least last years posts,

they are "full of love" to that person  Wink

I don't know what happened with Startcoin, but I doubt they sponsored him to the tune of $600K or were an established coin with tons of features and a market cap well north of $2bil. My point is that I don't know if any simple comparison with some bad experience with some other coin is at all relevant to what Dash and Max Kaiser are teaming up to do next month.

After reading this post by Evan https://medium.com/@eduffield222/how-to-enabling-on-chain-scaling-2ffab5997f8b It appears that Dash is going to change the way that Dash handles transactions to something more along the lines of EOS with the delegated proof of stake along with the nodes taking turns processing the transactions to make "mining" fair for all participants.

This is obviously a good path forward but a very serious change to the way things operate and also becoming more "centralized" than it currently is

I didn't read anything of the sort in that piece... Evan talks about scaling the hardware a MN runs on such that the network can process very large (several 100 MB) mined blocks. There nothing in there implying that DASH is not going to be proof of work in the future. Collateralized mining is discussed as well, but not only have the details of that not been explained to the community -- it was recently removed from the roadmap (presumably pushed back to focus on Evolution).

Can you quote the section that where "delegated proof of stake" or something similar is mentioned?

This is from the medium article. This is nothing but mincing of words. Collateralized mining is Staking
Quote
The basic premise of collateralized mining is to require collateralization and a special mining key which is associated with each masternode to be able to mine a block. Each masternode is then capable only of mining a specific amount of blocks per period of time, creating a round robin mining effect across the network.

This is how EOS will operate:
Quote
Many producers are selected and given a round-robin rotation for a round of blocks, thus creating a competitive market within the round, ensuring overall reliability, and resolving forks.   source: https://steemit.com/eos/@iang/seeking-consensus-on-consensus-dpos-or-delegated-proof-of-stake-and-the-two-generals-problem
The difference being that bad acting producers can be voted out. What measures are in place to prohibit bad acting masternodes ? Would the masternodes vote themselves to remove a bad actor ?

Quote
As we mature, masternodes become bigger boxes that require a specific set of specifications, for example they’ll require a high-end cpus, high-end graphics cards, a disk array and low-latency networking. It seems to me that we should be able to do that from outside of co-locations even, building our own farms at various dash centers / offices, allowing our own decentralized co-location services. souce: https://medium.com/@eduffield222/i-looked-up-the-amount-of-nodes-we-presently-have-on-each-server-farm-with-this-url-http-178-88967e634897

This sounds more centralized than decentralized.

Not trying to create FUD  I am a dash holder, investor and part time evangalist

Repeating myself... The details of exactly how collateralized mining may work have not been released AND it is currently not on the roadmap (which by the way covers the next two years or so). If Evan wants to do another Medium post to clear things up I am all for it, but I don't see the point in guessing at a feature that is years off based on sparse public information.

i was sell 310 coins at 200$  Cry

I believe Dash price will rise again at the end of this September.

Good that I am still holding
whats so special in september? any upcoming news or release..

New Dash Core wallet (v12.2) released to mainet AND the first piece of Evo will hit testnet in September. Check out the roadmap linked a few posts above.
Where do you get information about these announcements ?

The only information so far is what is written in the roadmap. I am sure more details will be released closer to launch. After all, a September release could mean 9/30 which would put us over a month away.

Looks like that whale means business. He/she is now seriously buying upwards.

I wonder what the news is that Amanda will make an extra Youtube episode about
on monday.

Long-awaited industry news

Could it be early release of Dash Evolution on Testnet ? Or another major
exchange adding Dash ? What are your thoughts ?

If I had to guess... considering the use of the words "airdropped" and "long-awaited" I would think that the news is that Dash has been approved by Apple.

Cause I should really stay out of trading. It's not where I'm best suited to be helping the project. It will lead to people changing their behavior on my behalf. Seems negative? I'm just trying to figure out where I best fit in and stay out of the rest.

On the other side though, I feel like it's my duty to inform the world that it is insane to short a hyper deflationary currency/medium. This is not a stock, it's not a commodity. It's a system of commerce. Going long you risk only the capital you put up, if short, you have infinite risk. Infinite risk on a hyper DEFLATIONARY asset. Think about it, it's going to get people hurt eventually.

It's not funny either, I want to express the idea a bit better, I think it's important for people to grasp.

Thanks for all your hard work and for the well reasoned warning to traders. Also, I am looking forward to the types of DAOs you will be reinvesting your funds into to help DASH. I assume we will hear more on this from you in the near future?  Grin

For all of the "why is dash @ 100 $" questions:

https://www.reddit.com/r/ethtrader/comments/606fz4/my_final_margin_call/

Thats one of the dash shorters who lost 150 btc and bring us to higher prices, and im quite sure there are many more of these kind .

"All because of one position, I lost it all. Yes, I know it was stupid. Yes, I know you shouldn't short, especially in a bull market. Yes, I know that I should have cut my losses fast. From the first worrying -2 BTC to the slightly terrifying -20 BTC, watching my losses grow and grow. Everyone told me to close the position: but I told them, are you retarded? Do you want me to close out with a $2,000 loss when it's so clear DASH is going to crash? Do you want me to close with a $10,000 loss when this is clearly a bubble? Do you want me to close with a $50,000 loss when I can easily make $20,000 if I just wait this out?"

^^ Thats what i mean if i say this bull run is driven by shorters (ofc thats not the only cause, but its a big multiplier), who can't believe dash has potential, because there is so much hate against dash and so much fud, they can't believe it went to 20 $ to 30 $ ... to 100 $ ... these are the ones who are squeezed hard on that run and did a good job in making dash price x10 !

I'm realy sorry for them, and i blame iceshitter and his troll crew for destroying thousands of lifes with theire fud against dash !!!

Yep. The only people that have been "scammed" are those that listened to the haters, trolls, and DASH FUDers over the years and due to being duped lost significant money during this run up. Shame on all the trolls! I really feel for this guy.

A few newbie questions (Dash is attracting attention...):

1) To run a masternode, besides having 1k dash in a wallet, do I need a computer working 24/7? What happens if there is a downtime (let's say I run out of power, my ISP is down, or whatever...)? Do I lose rewards for that month?

2) If I run a masternode on my computer with 2k dash, do I get twice the reward? Or do I need to have 2 wallets and 2 computers to earn twice what I could earn with 1k dash in a masternode? Or one wallet with 2 computers?

I hope the answer helps other people interested.

Thanks!

1) Yes. If your masternode drops off the network you are moved to the back of the payment queue (once you are back online) so yes you will lose payments. To combat this issue, most of the community uses a VPS to host one master node.  A VPS capable of 24/7 up time with enough hw to run a masternode can be found for $5 - $15 a month(at current prices a masternode makes over $600 a month before expenses).

2) Yes. You can create multiple masternodes from the same wallet. There is no limit that I am aware of. (Note: This assumes you are using the local-remote masternode set up method. You will need a separate remote VPS for each masternode, but the coins can be in one local wallet.)

Hello, can anyone here tell me when did RC3 come? I know it's somewhere in 2014. "Trying to Submit my claim to Cryptsy settlement"

You will have to dig around in this thread, but RC4 was around August 2014 so RC3 was probably sometime between May - July. Probably not before May since I am pretty sure RC3 was after the introduction of MNs (which was in early May).

It is strongly recommended that everybody update to the latest version v0.12.1.2 as well as the latest sentinel.  Moocowmoo's Dashman makes this very quick and easy. The sooner most of the network is on v0.12.1.2 the earlier enforcement can be reenabled. It will be nice to get InstantSend back and not have to worry about the off-chance of a greedy miner not paying one of my nodes. Wink

EDIT: Fixed the version numbering gaffe Tongue

But it's not win-win-win when somebody can propose something that exclusively enriches a certain few people, and those certain few people have enough power to make that proposal effective.  This is an effective kleptocracy, and I don't think that anybody really wants to be associated with that.

I won't comment on the whole post, but you are mistaken about the meaning of the 10% threshold for approving proposals. It is not realistic for Evan & the rest of the Core team to past a self-serving proposal against the wishes of the rest of the community since the formula for approval is YES VOTES - NO VOTES > 10%. In other words, so long as Evan and Core own less than 54.9% of the MNs (since 54.9% - 45.1% = 9.8%) they can't do anything like you describe above.  And no, there is zero evidence that they own even 1000MNs much less than the approx 2400 nodes you would need for that attack.

The current system may indeed have yet undiscovered flaws, but a small group of people with a lot of MNs overriding the wishes of the entire community is not one of them.

Now that Trezor has added support for DASH I would like to move a masternode collateral and the 1000 DASH over to the Trezor wallet from the desktop wallet. Has anyone done that and what do I need to update?

MN support for Trezor (as well as other HW wallets) will be available with the release of 12.1 on Feb. 5. I assume further instructions will be available at that time.
