(yet another inane and mindless comment)

Why do you have "When the going gets tough. THE TOUGH GET GOING!" on your posts. You're clearly not speaking about yourself.

Over and out.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF STOP DROPPING !!!

calm down , etc is now in a bubble mode. Correction is coming, especially when hacker accesses his coins.

In investing there is never a time to start panicking. There is time to buy, sell or hold. That's it.

cool, when do we start panicking?

When you dont know what to do, dont have any plan for both cases (rise, fall). If you panic then making money on investing is not for you and you should avoid it or you will most probably end with less money than you had.
what's the price we start panicking? have we got past that already?

You didn't understand me. If you panic, better stop investing. Panic is worst adviser here.

ok, when is it time to start panicking? $0.20? $0.10? $0.01?

Never. Sometimes you have to accept the potential loss.
give me a number  $0.20? $0.10? $0.01? when do we panic?

You really are the stupidest dumbf*^~ aren't you! Please do panic right now, sell all your LSK and then take your mindlessness somewhere else so we don't have to put up with such banality.

this is great, first you lose me all my money and now you insult me in my face. What a great community.

Your problem is you're behaving like a first rate naive and novice crypto-buffoon that expects "moon" and "rocket" and instant profits and starts blaming everyone else and moaning incessantly when they're not happening. That isn't how a substantial investor in a project with long-term goals generally behaves and conducts themselves.

And now you're blaming the community for losing you all your money. Man-oh-man I barely know how to respond to such stupidity. No one has "lost" you any money, you've chosen to invest in Lisk, you've chosen to accept the risks associated with investment in such a highly volatile project (when compared to more traditional non-crypto investments) that has the potential for enormous gains as well as enormous losses. That's what YOU signed up for being involved in something like Lisk and crypto in general. No one else is responsible except YOU. If you'd just shut up and spend time comprehending what you've invested in, you'll be in a lot better position to actually add something of value to this thread

Now if you want to try and bring some base level of comprehension and wisdom to your activities here, read Max's "What is Lisk. And what it isn't" blog post and take particular note of this paragraph:

Quote
Many users are urging us to spend our funds on unnecessary stuff and give out exorbitant bounties. We won’t! We are here to build and promote the platform consistently over a long time. The development speed accelerate over time once the team grows and internal processes are being established. The promotion is growing in steps and certain marketing campaigns only make sense once the project is at a specific stage in terms of development. We estimate our funds are enough for a minimum of 5 years.

Then do some research of what's being presented here against what's being presented in some of the flawed approaches we're seeing in other high profile projects and you'll soon see that there's something of substance and depth here that has tremendous potential.

Alternatively, continue carrying on like a lame fool posting never ending inane comments and be considered as nothing more than the equivalent of the crypto village idiot. That can hardly be a satisfying past time though.

Should have never invested in this seet.  Embarrassed

honolulmark I think you are a first rate fool.

You're clearly in the wrong place here.

I know, I'm just hoping i goes back to the price I bought so I can get out.

The problem with this type of approach is you're chasing big and very rapid returns but you'll find yourself on the wrong side of your trades again and again. What's likely to happen is the price will spike suddenly and if you have sell orders set for a "just wait for the price to come back up and then get the hell out" opportunity then it's very likely the price will continue on upwards, but in desperation you've exited at the price you came in at. What do you do then? Most likely because of FOMO you'll buy back in again at a price higher than you previously paid panic stricken you're now missing the pump. And then "OM f_ _ _ing G....it's going down again!" and suddenly it's back down under the previous price you sold for!

This is the yoyo "chase your tail" world that virtually everyone who's invested in crypto has suffered from at some point (and its why there are sooo many scammers....because there's a million suckers just falling over themselves to hand their money over so they can lose it).

You'd be better to just hold onto your Lisk, check in every so often and await the highly likely long-term increase that will come as the project develops. You will probably do very well in the end, but it requires patience and consideration of the long-term goals the lead developer has indicated the project's all about.

Should have never invested in this seet.  Embarrassed

honolulmark I think you are a first rate fool. Your never ending inane "is it lambo time?" posts that seem to indicate you were expecting a 100x increase in price within days are indicative of a naive buffoon who understands nothing of what this is all about, what the essence of a substantial project is and what genuine price appreciation looks like.

And as for your suggestion some days back that the ICO funds should be used to "pump the price", good grief, how absurd and mindless. You need to go and find some scam coin and spend time with the likes of bobsurplus if this is how you think a project of this calibre should be operating.

You're clearly in the wrong place here.

The windows wallet is still syncing,  22wks to go blk 310233 Cry

Well if you started from scratch that's still way faster than mine was going. I picked up one of the last bootstraps PrometheusX put up and it had me at about 315,000 to start off. Then it took me about 24 hours just to get to about 328,000! So it was going to be weeks to fully catch up. Hopefully yours will maintain same pace and you'll have it up to current block within next 24 hours. Thanks.

Just checked and it's at blk 321915 and 15wks out.  Hopefully it will finish tonight or tomorrow... Trying to get a skeleton website set up for it.  Nothing like racing against the clock Smiley

Sorry , i have currently health problems.
Here a current zip of a full syncd Windows Data Folder at currently Block 483696
http://download.coin-info.net/btx-windows-datafolder-483696-2016-07-17.zip

And for those who wanna sync by themself with a bootstrap file
http://download.coin-info.net/bootstrap.dat-483696-2016-07-17.zip

I hope it will help u and for the case that i forget to upload a new zip, pls write me a PM

THANKS PrometheusX!!  Mine is still syncing, it's @ 365789, 11 wks.  I'm going to let it keep going while I work on the new web page.

Yes thanks PrometheusX; I hope your health situation is not too severe and you're getting better.

I downloaded the data folder you'd posted and (at first) thought that had all worked fine. Wallet caught up to the current block fairly quickly and I'd unlocked it for staking. But then it was just sitting there and, after many hours, no staking seemed to be happening. Checked the staking stats and it said I was a full day away from receiving any reward, which I thought was odd because I was receiving them right up until my wallet suddenly went out of sync about a week ago and it didn't make sense that I was needing to wait so long for newly staked coins to come in.

Then I realised that I only had about 2% of my BTX balance! Hadn't even noticed as I was just glad to see the wallet caught up to the latest block. The transaction log was still showing everything, including the rewards I received around 7th July before all this difficulty started. I checked my address on the blockchain and it was still showing the full balance I was expecting (thank goodness). So I closed the wallet, waiting for it to be completely shutdown and recopied my wallet.dat from backup. This time upon running it again I had about 15% of my balance, so it was still not right.

Decided to go to a previous backup version of wallet.dat. Now my full balance is there and it's started staking again almost immediately.

What a whole lot of kerfuffle! This is one of the reasons this stuff is still so unready for prime-time. Only that I've had a bit of experience and was astute enough to have kept multiple wallet.dat files going back in time was I able to get this resolved. A regular user who might not be aware of all this under-the-covers plumbing would have far more difficulty getting a situation like this resolved and upon seeing their balance severely reduced would probably panic too.

Given the chain takes so long to catch up (for both my experience and what MCDev is reporting) I'm thinking we need an entry in the OP to go to a page on the website that has latest files for syncing and instructions on how to do it.

Berlin office adventure lasts too long, office is not so important as other stuff on Lisk :/

Office is extremely important and that's why we are putting so many resourcing into this at this moment. Moving to another city (and for Oliver even country!), finding a flat, dealing with the public authorities, finding an office, and so on takes time. During all the time our team is working on 0.4.0 which will resolve many problems which are existing today.

Would be great if you guys can upvote the new definition of Lisk at urbandictionary, please note that this is several months old. So still "decentralized app" and there is a typo. Better than nothing, feel free to submit a better description.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Lisk

I would suggest you take no notice of some of the ridiculously ignorant posts on here, like the one you've responded to. When you're moving to a new city and setting up an office, there are hundreds of things to take care of. Without a proper base to work from it's impossible to achieve the team dynamics and synergies needed to be productive.

Have upvoted the new definition at urbandictionary too.

It's time for LISK to replace ETH now.  Once the hard f**k is complete there will be about 11 million ether on the free market again.  That's about 14% of the supply which was locked up suddenly being available on the market again.

There's likely to be a big exit and self-feeding spiral of falling ether prices and panic selling.

LISK should really capitalise on this opportunity as much as possible with a marketing blitz and the team highlighting why LISK may be less likely to suffer the same kind of problems due to the use of side-chains.

I hope many will sell so that i get the opportunity to buy cheap ETH, but i don't think many will, it's already cheap, and many new projects are happening on ETH network so i think it will easily go to 15+ after HF.

I don't think there is any doubt the ether price will crash.  It's a simple matter of supply and demand.  The DAO sucked up a huge amount of the supply.  I'm sure ether will rise again in the future but it is an opportunity for LISK to raise it's profile.

Etherium was supposed to be absolutely uncensorable and immutable. While I can understand the Etherium dev's desire to "fix" The DAO hack disaster, the problem is that this hard fork is setting a precedent. What will happen in the future if Etherium becomes the subject of an intense controversy with government authorities claiming it's a tax haven or a money laundering facility after a major swindle/theft has occurred resulting in huge pressure for another HF? Don't think "Oh that's not likely" it's the very essence of what's likely once the precedent is set that HF's can be agreed to by enough of the miners/community. If large swathes of the network are in the hands of government, big banks and other parties that will side with vested interests that suggest hard forking will be best for their interests, another HF will be on the cards resulting in further loss of integrity of what was supposed to an immutable chain that could never be interfered with for any reason.

It has been mortally wounded and it will take some time to shake off the worry and loss of confidence this has caused. I don't think we'll see the same prices for #eth. Initially it may go up a bit after the relief that the HF has "worked" but it will be "that the HF has worked" that will prevent full confidence from being restored.

Lisk needs to be very clear about this and ensure something similar doesn't befall it.

Talking about Lisk logo, I made this one https://i.snag.gy/jAoLr2.jpg which follows/copy the original one as much as possible.

That's good jimmco and it most likely deals with the issue butseedmike's mentioned about the difficulties with silkscreen printing, etc.

PrometheusX,

Have been staking well for months and suddenly, the Windows wallet hung again at block 404346 (C-CEX is now at 406182) so it's 28 hours behind. Have 14 connections so that shouldn't be an issue.

Is there a place to get current Windows blockchain files? Are you aware of any forks? Also noticed the wallet link in the OP is broken.

Not sure what's happened for you Diggio. I was previously having a lot of syncing problems with the v2120 Windows wallet, but am no longer experiencing them. Interestingly though I only have 4 connections (and I have all the nodes that have ever been noted listed in my .conf file) but it's working fine and I'm on the latest block.

You can also use the block explorer at http://blox.btx.rocks/ to check what the latest block is.

I don't know why but that link for the wallet download in the OP is going to an IP address (http://85.214.95.177/btx-uploads/BitcoinTX-v2120-win.zip). The hosting company has probably reconfigured servers. Someone needs to put the domain name address in there instead.

RenegadeMan - I sent you a pm but figured I would post the reply here also.  I was able to get a 2012R2 VM setup during my lunch hour, and the Windows Qt started syncing at about 5pm ET.  Hopefully the wallet till be synced very late tomorrow night or Saturday morning.  I'm planning on doing the same for BTX that I started doing for Sling and is to create a zip of the wallet data directory for both the Windows and *Nix wallets.  That way, ppl can pull the zip, follow a couple of steps and be synced in 1 to 2 hours in the worse case.  Right now for Sling, I;ve been uploading the files to GitHub until I get the websites finished up.  I plan on doing the same for BTX.

Thanks
MCDev

Thanks MCDev. That will be great and help people to get their wallet's resynced if needed without needing to wait for them to catch up the entire chain.

We should always have this capability (and the relevant downloadable files available) as standard on these projects. There are many reasons why someone may need to start fresh and bootstrap the blockchain.

To whom it may concern: The never ending story about a new logo

First I want to say: Don't take this personal. It's just my opinion.

Initiative in all honor, but from a professional point of view, I don't like the aspect that people come around with their own Lisk logos, printing them on shirts, server-boxes and using them on their Lisk websites, social media, etc. It's just makes Lisk look unprofessional (from my view), because if people around seeing so many different logos of Lisk, well... it just looks unprofessional - end of story. Unless there is an official new logo (new Corporate Identity) we *all* should stick to the old one, even if you don't like it. From day one, people are acting like the success of Lisk depends on the logo, but it's not. No the name and not the logo is important. Not a bit. That doesn't mean that I don't want a new logo (I really want), but we have a CEO who should start this officially by calling out a contest or job out a new Corporate Identity.
Totally agree with you.

Me too..... Smiley

Yes. Me three.

It's not appropriate for people to be making logos AND using them. By all means put ideas forward for a new logo but that doesn't mean they should be used prior to the person heading up this project agreeing to the existing logo being officially replaced. Just because the project is about decentralised technology and it's open source doesn't mean its identity is all just open slather for anyone to have a go at altering.

The existing logo is very good, but perhaps not great. But for the moment it represents Lisk and where ever Lisk is being discussed or advertised, the existing logo should be what's displayed.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: July 14, 2016, 11:52:09 PM
I vote 101+ on this design.

I like this as well!

Looks awesome, indeed!

I agree 1 million percent. Well done on the logo branding is very important. It is clean and modern.

Ok, I be the dude everybody hates: I don't like it. I get that it's clean and it fits the current popular style. Which is pretty much why I have a problem with it: it doesn't stand out between all the other crypto projects.

Take this picture for example, and tell me, which band name you can remember after 5 minutes:

http://media.creativebloq.futurecdn.net/sites/creativebloq.com/files/images/2015/10/Party_Cannon_Poster.jpg
(Yes, their music is pretty much the same style as of the other bands Smiley )

Crypto, and especially crypto 3.0 has, just like most subscenes, developed it's own visual style. To stand out, you have to counteract this.

Mjbmonetarymetals, please don't take it personal. I can see that you put a lot of thought and effort in it and you clearly have a good eye for this kind of work (are you a professional?) I get why people like it. Which is pretty much the reason why I don't like it Smiley

I understand what you want to say, but under the line I disagree and I can use your band-example to explain it. You ask which band name we can remember after 5 minutes. And you are right that the colored-party-band-name is an eye-catcher. But what does it say about the band what for associations does it trigger? I don't know what kind of music they make but I would never expect Metal. I wouldn't expect a serious Band. It doesn't need to be bad, but I would expect guys that want to have some fun and who wants attention and in some ways I would expect that to find in their music as well.

For me it would be the band "Origin". The name sounds cool, not this childish  burning-a-church-for-the-master-down-bands with unreadable names. I also don't know if I would like their music but just the name looks more "adult"/grown up. At the same time it fits to the general style of a Metal-Band.

And if we translate that to Crypto, I don't think it needs an eye-catcher that is totally out of norm with something. Lisk as a name is good, I think nobody will disagree much. The Logo is a little bit online-game-style. It's not a big thing but it also could be like "Lisk! Our new Iphone-Game, find more gemstones than your friends!" With other words: I would like to see something that transports more what Lisk is as message. And one visual message in my opinion should be simplicity. It should not give an impression of complexity. Another message should be Strength. I would search for something that combines those two messages and maybe more. I'm not an expert for design. Not sure if the logo above is that perfect, but it's good.

But most important in my eyes is: It doesn't need to be something that screams for attention. Because everything and everybody who desperately forces for attention also transports something that is very weak between the lines. At least when it's about serious business - not speaking about that Band, because it's entertainment.

I am not a metal guy. From all these bands, Party Cannon is the only one I listened to, to look what it's about. People who mostly listen to Death Metal might disagree and maybe won't even take them seriously, but those people are from within the Death metal circle, you might call them "enfranchised". They are used to a certain style and are able to distinguish the logos, maybe even gauge their quality based on it.

What I want to say, is: Who do you want to reach with the logo? It you want to reach crypto people, the logo above might be spot on.
Lisk, however, is meant to break out of the crypto circle (as are most coins, actually), so maybe (just maybe), people from inside this circle (and as a user of bitcointalk, I suspect we are all inside this circle) are not the best people to ask whether or not a logo works.

My first post on this thread and I'd like to comment on the logo debate.

Firstly I think Mjbmonetarymetals has done a very good job of that alternative logo. It's clean and concise and certainly looks appropriate. But is "appropriate" what's needed for something like Lisk?

Ttookk and tempus you've both made excellent points in your respective commentaries. I agree with you ttookk that it's yet another logo like so many we've seen and your metal band festival advert certainly was a dramatic example of how one band can stand out from the crowd and have a far more memorable logo. But then tempus is correct in asking the follow-up question "but what does it say about the band?". And then ttookk you're correct in asking who is it Lisk is trying to reach and that if it's just crypto well that logo Mjbmonetarymetals has done is probably spot on but aren't we trying to reach outside of the existing crypto community?

Lisk needs to walk a fine line between the existing notions (within crypto) of what this is all about and a more radical outreach to a wider audience. While the Party Cannon approach is certainly going to separate Lisk from the norm it's probably more important to ask "and what does this say about Lisk?". There are thousands of ways a logo could separate Lisk from all the other crypto projects and make it stand out, but a large proportion of those ways are likely to then not carry the appropriate notions, ideas and the general ethos of what Lisk is, for Lisk to be discovered and taken up by whole new markets not yet being tapped into.

If Lisk is to get a new logo I think it's essential to do as tempus has suggested; find the fundamental attributes like simplicity and strength that need to be communicated and then design something around those attributes. The logo should represent some aspect of Lisk's capabilities and future promise but still be unique without just becoming a novelty.

What are you talking about ?

There is no mention of XMR anywhere in Tok's post (and I saw it pretty much as soon as it went up).

Maybe you're just hoping he'd weave it into the conversation?

I don't know what to do.   If I sell BTC for Dash,  I am sorry when BTC goes up.  If I don't,  I am sorry when Dash goes up.   I am trying to keep a balance between the two.   Maybe I should stop watching.

sdp

Just my opinion, and I'm not a trader, but the way I see it, BTC goes up with new fiat coming into the system.  People stay there while it goes up, but then when it starts to level off, and even dip, the new money that went into BTC doesn't normally go back into fiat but rather into other coins.  So I expect once BTC levels off or drops a bit, Dash will rise.  That's my gut feeling.  But again, I'm no trader and am often wrong. ??

(tawdry drivel that didn't even register a pulse on the "they're idiots but we are quite fond of our trolls" meter)

Hey Tao, can you (and anyone else quoting times) please provide them in UTC? It's really quite irking when you're involved in a world-wide community and someone writes "4PM EST". It means you have to go and find what "4PM EST" actually means (i.e. is it a regular 4PM is or is it a daylight savings 4PM and, although I know all the U.S. time zones, many people in other parts of the world don't) and then you need to convert it to your own time zone; again making sure you get the daylight savings yes/no alteration correct at your own end too. If you're doing this regularly as part of your job it's not too difficult, but many people aren't dealing in time zones from the other side of the world on a regular basis and it's then quite difficult to work it out. If you quote in UTC (or even just put the UTC in brackets) it's then far easier for all of the DASH community (wherever they are) to convert to local time.
