bootstrap.datbootstrap.dat allows a new Fastcoin client (not synced) to rapidly import the initial blocks from a local file instead of slowly downloading blocks from random peers. This significantly reduces the time it takes to get a client synced with the current blockchain. Simply having bootstrap.dat in Fastcoin's expected data directory will make your initial block sync much faster. The import process can be even faster if you use the -dbcache=1000 command line parameter which uses an additional 1GB of RAM for the database index cache. You can download the bootstrap.dat which is currently 1GB or the bootstrap.dat.xz which is 530MB. Extracting the bootstrap.dat.xzRegardless of your operating system, use the following steps to make use of the bootstrap.dat file: 1. Download bootstrap.dat.xz from mirrors or torrent. 2. Decompress the bootstrap.dat. 3. Put it into the Fastcoin datadir. "%appdata%/fastcoin" / "~/.fastcoin" (This is the same folder that contains wallet.dat and the blocks folder.) 4. Delete bootstrap.dat.old if you want to recover some storage space. Fastcoin Data Folder Linux Fastcoin's data directory is located in ~/.fastcoin/ by default. You can run ls -a to see directories that start with a period. You can also search for the directory with the following command: find / -name wallet.dat -print 2>/dev/null MacYou can obtain xz from MacPorts or http://macpkg.sourceforge.net/. Fastcoin's data directory should be located in ~/Library/Application Support/Fastcoin/. Windows7Zip is a free utility that can decompress .xz files, so does the latest version of WinRAR. Click on Start then Run (or press WinKey+R) and type: explorer %APPDATA%\Fastcoin Fastcoin's data directory will open. "AppData" and "Application Data" are hidden by default in Windows. Copy bootstrap.dat to data directoryCopy the bootstrap.dat to your data directory. Load the Fastcoin client and wait for it to load the blocks. After loading is complete, the bootstrap.dat will be renamed to bootstrap.dat.old at which point you can choose to delete it. Links are below. Anyone solo mining this ?? I cant seem to connect, sooo it would be nice if someone can help with .conf file, working nodes, etc. Thx.
Here is a link to a fastcoin.conf file as an example. http://pastebin.com/CM4KiksyIncluded are a load of nodes as well, also, here is an example of cgminer's config. http://pastebin.com/xFFzscuE

Hello iam solomining fastcoin.. even though my cgminer shows block accepted its not depositing in my wallet? any idea why? i found total 9 or 10 blocks 1 rejected and 5 deposited. not sure what happened to 3 or 4 block..
They most likely orphaned, check your queue, scantime and expiry settings in cgminer, try to lower your queue to 0, scantime to 1, and expiry to 3.

Here is my transfer deposit of Fastcoin to Cryptsy. Sent: 1/28/2014 17:22 Received 1/29/2014 14:15 It took less than 24 hours.

Why do confirmations take so long when sending to the exchange?
This is something you will need to take up with Cryptsy. They have been known to delay transactions for various coins, and not only that, but for various users. Yeah its only happening for FST so looks like a cryptsy issue, just filed a support ticket. I'll go ahead and make a deposit directly from my wallet. Are the coins you're sending newly mined coins? And are you sending from your wallet or from a pool? Edit: There is a 24 hour waiting period for coins including; Netcoin, Galaxycoin, Frankocoin, Neocoin, Alphacoin, Fastcoin and I'm sure there are others as well. Many are having to play the waiting game so I suggest that anyone making deposits to allow at least 24 hours, especially if you're not a trusted/regular user who has made numerous deposits of the same coin before.

Does anybody have an idea why I would have such a high reject rate mining Fastcoin? (Solo mining). I've never seen that with any other coin. It also has 0 accepts even though best share is far over diff.
I've been able to mine FastCoin blocks on the same wallet, but from another machine running cudaminer. And this cgminer machine can successfully mine altcoin - but it trips up on fastcoin. What gives?

Resolved: via IRC. In this case, For older cards it is suggested to use an older version of cgminer. I've pasted links below for both 3.1.1 and 3.3.1. Also, in cgminer, make sure you hit S for settings and change queue=0, scantime=1 and expiry=12. Especially when solo mining and don't forget to add another pool to for longpool support. https://www.dropbox.com/s/yvsz0a8iq9jvn4j/cgminer-3.1.1-windows.ziphttps://www.dropbox.com/s/vh82f9tygbx3atg/cgminer-3.3.1-windows.zip

Twelve seconds? Isn't GeistGeld ten seconds? And years in the market?
-MarkM-
That was a concept for a new SHA-256 coin with fast block generation. It's nothing like Fastcoin. "Geistgeld is intended to investigate two things: maximum sustainable block generation rate and behavior of a currency with fixed production rate and no upper limit on production ("halving" behavior removed in previous commit). Yes, GeistGeld is quite risky."

Request: Fastcoin (FST) http://fastcoin.cahttp://fastcointalk.orgThe amount of volume in this coin is astounding. "Over 82 BTC were traded and over 230 LTC. Over 4.5 Million FST traded hands in under 3 hours, it was the second largest trading day by volume for FST.

i have the account more than a month, and iv done plenty deposits , still they consider me new user ?
You probably would need to open a ticket on cryptsy, let me know how it goes.

guys you can deposit on crypsty the last 12hrs ??
Currently, there is a transaction delay for new users on cryptsy, It's generally 24hrs. If it's been an extended period of time, (up to 3 days) you'll need to open a support ticket on the website. It's simply beefing up security, once you've had your account for awhile, and made a few deposits, you won't have such a wait.

What do you see in the future of FST?
I'm trying to find if this coin has any plans going for it. There is no community on reddit and searching fastcoin here just brings up alot of threads about mining. Google News search shows nothing. Fastcoins website is very poorly designed and gives a very amateurish impression. Yeah yeah this is the fastest coin, but so what? Worldcoin has 60 sec confirmation time vs FST's 48 but they have real development going on and seem to be working hard.
Dont mean to diss on FST, i just don't know much about it, anyone care to enlighten me about it?
Which is the fastest and yet still secure crypto currency? Fastcoin! Consider two factors, first, the "Block Target/Time" and second, "The Number of Confirmations Per Transaction". In order to make a comparison, say between Worldcoin, as you noted and Fastcoin we simply take the Block Target/Time and multiply it with the Number of Confirmations Per Transaction. One must also include the number of confirmations as a security factor. How many transactions should be safe? Let's say for our comparison, we use four, that's 2 more than Worldcoins default number of confirmations, which is still a pretty small window of time. However, many exchanges and online shops would require more confirmations than that. (Generally 6-8) So take four confirmations at 30 seconds and it's 120. Same with Quark, InfiniteCoin and Franko. Four confirmations on the Fastcoin network, you're still looking at 48 seconds. Head over to http://www.fastcointalk.org to see the activity that's brewing.

why does fast coin take so long to deposit on cryptsy?
That would be a question for cryptsy. It doesn't take long at all when things over there are working smoothly, and it's not just fastcoin that is delayed, I am seeing delays in a handfull of coins over there. Join #cryptsy_support on irc.freenode.net or open a support ticket on their site.
