Hey Everyone,

Sorry for the long break between posts. It's been a bit of a wild summer for me, with a few family members falling quite ill, 3 weddings, and helping my girlfriend move to a new city all in the last six weeks.

As you can see, our decentralized model has been working very effectively over the summer. Work never stopped on WhiteCoin because we've structured the foundation to avoid depending on one person only. I've always had complete faith in the team and I think it's very fair to say that faith has been 100% justified. I'll be making a few updates to you all in the next couple weeks as we continue to move forward with registering as an association.

In regards to chunky, I regrettably do not have much to add to the conversation. Unfortunately we were never given full access to chunky's servers, and I too suffered some losses as I kept quite a bit of my portfolio on its servers (quite stupidly, I might add, however I liked the convenience and the owner was always above board with me). I never thought it would vanish offline like that, as I worked with the owner for almost a year. I still hold out hope he will return, but I have yet to hear back from him. I know he experienced some pretty serious health and personal issues this year, so I also hold out hope that chunky going offline is innocent in nature, and I also hope he's ok.

I hope you will all point your miners to coinking, as they have a solid operation and an owner who has the drive to see that site continue to grow.

All the best,

Chris

Hey Everyone,

Just as an update, I was out of town this week as my partner had a death in the family and we had to make a 12 hour road trip for the funeral. I'm back home now and all is well, and to clarify, I was not working on any other coins. The only crypto work I did this week was to make sure chunky did regular payouts.

If anything, I hope this shows everyone that our work to create true responsible decentralization in the management of this coin works. We all still have lives to live, and especially given recent events in my own life I think it's very important we encourage members of the ops team to balance their time working with a healthy amount of personal time. We don't want to risk people burning out as we saw during the initial crisis that brought us all together.

I'm going to be doing lots of laundry and catching up on real life here in Halifax today, more updates to come this week.

All the best,

Chris

Hey Chris, nice to see you back. Sorry for your partner's loss...  Sad
I want to ask you is there any chance to change Chunky Pool name to ''WhiteCoin multipool''? (Like BC has its own pool  Smiley)
In that way it'll be the first official multipool which only pays in WC. Is that possible? What is currently going on with that pool? Are there any progress in new coin implementation, better profit algo, the continuity in payments, daily trading...? There's no info from them for ages.
As I see, the pool is struggling for continuous hash power... Maybe if we work more on those things, improving pool it self, promoting it and find people who will be operating that pool 24/7 and not few days in a week. That's mine opinion, maybe I'm wrong...  Wink
One more thing for the end, I realy realy realy mean we need much stronger pool then it is. And don't think that there's no miners for WhiteCoin pool, just needed better service from it.

IMHO, this is the issue we need to work on too, besides tech. details about coin it self...  Wink

cheers
B.

Hey just to answer your questions about chunky:

We can't change the pool name as the foundation does not own it.

In terms of profit algo, it's working great, returns have been consistent and on the high end of daily averages for some time now. Considering the multiport varies between 100-500MH, and we can't always mine very high difficulty coins, I think the profit algo works great.

What aspect of the service from the pool aren't you happy with? We provide daily payouts, transparency for balances, and we resolve all support issues. Always working to improve, but I'm wondering if maybe it's been a while since you've given chunky a try?

All the best,

Chris

I'd like to echo Surfguy's comments here. Great stuff, so glad to see everyone working together to better this coin.

I'm going to be working hard this week on some additional research regarding registration, as I'm now of the opinion we should speed that process to conclusion ASAP. I'll also be doing some behind the scenes work with current (and potentially future) investors.

I'll have to apologize in advance to anyone I'm slow on the reply with over IRC, there will be some periods where I'm logged in but away from the computer today and tomorrow.

all the best,

Chris

Hi Everyone,

I'd just like to apologize over our delays in withdraws recently at chunkypools. We had an unfortunate issue with our wallet not recognizing the correct total balance, along with a manual error I made personally. We've now fixed the issue and regular payouts and withdraws have now resumed on the nav pool.

Thanks again for your patience, and we hope to see you back on the NAV pool at chunkypools.com/sum

Best regards,

Chris

Dude, we are not spreading fear, uncertainty or doubt. What we are saying is a new wallet has been promised for about several months, and just the other day it sounded like it was going to be another several months with all the cool ideas floating around. Fact is, the wallet has not come out, there have been no solid technical improvements, and the price is no different because you folks are not getting new investors based on the reasons we have stated. I really don't know why you think we are trying to do anything other than expose the truth as a community. But continue to blabber on about how bad we are as it only solidifies our position.

Hey,

I do believe you're well intentioned WhiteNotWright, but sometimes you have a tendency to over exagerate. For example, while I do agree the wallet is way too late on delivery, WhiteCoin hasn't even existed for several months, we've been around about three now. The last wallet update was in May, and I think mindfox didn't want to just do an update with the logo on it, he wants to do more. A noble goal that has also presented us with some short term problems. I also think that's not fair or true about new investors, just look at what our Vice President has accomplished in that regard. Considering you've also openly admitted to trying to keep the price at 100 sat or below in the past (so your group can accumulate cheap), I also think that's not fair. We have made substantial technical improvements to whitecoin since the foundation took over. Some coins go much longer between wallet updates (look at potcoin, still successful despite low technical improvements).

That said, the reality is we do need these issues raised, they are important, and the purpose of the foundation is to keep us all accountable to eachother and the wider industry. You are 100% correct that the wallet should be out by now, and it's not, and that's an important issue to raise. But sometimes WNW you have a tendency to raise the alarm bells in a way that seems as though you're trying to convince people to leave our community, and I think that's where people (incorrectly) throw the FUD finger at you.

I'd encourage both you, and your detractors to give that some thought. We need alarms raised when there are problems. But we also need to all be working together to solve them. WhiteNotWright, would you commit to assisting and joining us on the operations side, even just as an advisor? Or perhaps be willing to (like many others), pony up a bit so we can get Mindfox the help he needs?

Best,

Chris

Fair enough and sorry for your unfortunate events. I will evaluate my approach and try to be a little more smooth in my stated concerns. Not sure I ever manipulated the price at 100, but often that is done as a part of normal traded which I do from time to time, when I see there are folks wanting to buy coin. I am getting ready to make another healthy purchase because I have faith in the coin and the community and new members are starting to show signs of progress. Maybe it's my fault for not getting that big "bump" in here that is needed, but to do that takes a lot of skin and not sure folks are ready to go balls deep without some type of timeline and deliverable. Also, someone mentioned how much is it going to take to get a DEV working on the coin full time with an attitude because they would have funds to do the work and a potential return on investment of the coin. I think if this accounting and work was all transparent, you would have no issue with funding.

I appreciate that man, I'm going to do the same. I know I've been too harsh with you at times and for that I apologize. I may have also misread some of your posts about the price. That is a really fair comment about having the skin to make that bump, it's something I've never felt comfortable asking our investors to do.

You're absolutely right about the accounting work. Previously I've said I think we should use all of the 90 day grace period provided by the government to operate before filing our finalized paperwork, but to facilitate more accountability I've been recently thinking we should speed and finalize that process. Combined with finally instituting the general assembly (I intend to work very hard to see that happen in August), I believe we'll have the framework in place to provide the necessary trust platform for substantial investment into the foundation and thus whitecoin. Most important for our current conversation, when we're in a voting assembly people won't be able to cry FUD against valid concerns. Anyone in attendance will be demonstrating they've put their money where there mouth is (so to speak).

I've come home from this trip with a renewed determination to see these projects completed so we can move into the next phases. I need to step offline for a bit but I'll reach out to you by tomorrow.

All the best,

Chris

Hey Nexby,

Very fair question and thanks for the good wishes. In a later post we extended community discussion as the concept of a companion coin was not favourable to all of our investors and I also felt it was very healthy for us to do more brainstorming. Currently, I believe the discussion has turned away from doing a companion coin and integrating these features directly into WC. This will probably take us extra time to accomplish, and I'm hoping to have an update for everyone on that front in the next day or two.

All the best,

Chris

Thank you for your answer Chris, so when i understand this right it means: Lets wait till mindfox is ready with other coins and then he will maybe add some features.
What do you think about hiring new devs? That will work project after project and not all at ones.

Actually, Mindfox has been working very hard for us on a new wallet for us. We extended community discussion not because of Mindfox's time commitments but due to it being clear to us that the community wanted more time to discuss. As I understand it, modifying WC to add a privacy feature would take more work than creating a compainon coin, but I could be wrong. I do believe it is worth exploring to see if we can get Mindfox some additional help, though I'm going to check in and get a report from the ops team before I make any further comment on that.

All the best,

Chris

Potential good news? There was whole bunch of good news waiting ahead but they are delayed because of attack. Soon we will know all the plans and anon schedule. So hold your coins and wait for dev to recover.

Well the newest news we have now is that cryptsy is busy to add the nav/btc market, so we can buy more nav coins

18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] (WC) | WhiteCoin | BIG NEWS: Foundation, investors & more ☯ whitecoin.info on: July 16, 2014, 03:01:51 PM

Yes qrk and WC are in the same position. No development pot, no real devs. However active communities already formed and already on the best exchanges and well known.

I'll ask you and the others saying NO. Tell me a negative to the companion coin introduced via WC only IPO?

A negative other than it could be some competition to WC. We've covered that in the qrk thread. I am yet to hear any other.

There are 400 coins already in direct competition with WC, none of those have any potential benefits to WC.

A companion coin is not a way to fork. QRK needs it more than WC since WC already has POS.

However many WC holders will prefer to see WC have a crack at mainstream and not have that hampered by ANON features coded in. WOC will offer lots of benefits with no more negatives than the other 10 coins released today.

The QRK naysayers are yet to provide 1 clear negative of implementing their companion coin. Since the WOC will be sold by the foundation and the WC taken in payment will also be controlled. There is a lot less competition to WC directly in terms of market price than from other alts that will provide nothing in return for WC. WC is getting sold daily back to BTC to purchase coins others see as having a better future ahead. Hence the price slipping down again.

The ipo though can NEVER be via any other method that buying in with WC. Not just a few weeks. It has to be on WC until all the WOC ipo is sold off.

How would it drive anyone away. If there is no negative and lots of potential positives for both coins then why would anyone logically leave WC ? would seem a very strange decision. I would only buy WOC with my WC as things progressed positively in terms of development and activity. I would always keep most of my WC perhaps buying more to switch over to WOC if needs be.

The services and activity brought in by the companion coin would drive demand for both coins. Both coins can take things from each other and jointly use services funded by either one.

Most people listen to blanket statements that break down under closer scrutiny. Let's examine the idea in detail before saying it would be good or bad for WC.

The main issue is do we really have a dev team that can create a working anon coin that is as good as the other top tier ones in development ie xc,dark, cloak etc.  I think with a large enough development pot such developers can be found.

Honestly now, at some point, this community must start seeing things in a realistic way.

There are 3 or 4 major coins atm, that are *still* trying to implement "anonymous", with major support on resources and you are talking about a "working anonymous" solution that a "single dev" will take for a "bounty"?

I'm currently working on one kind of implementation for a coin and as soon as it is ready and working, would be happy to apply it to WC as a "working solution".

Regarding companion coins, I'm strongly against it as it serves no purpose, but of course if the majority wants it, let's make it. But, question yourselves: "Why would anyone want a coin (no matter the name) when that coin offers nothing? "

I honestly think that everybody who cares about this coin and is able to join irc (it's not that hard, even webirc will allow a connection) should arrange a meeting. Let's talk real time and exchange opinions. Fora are not the best available option for this kind of discussion.

Edit: Added some thoughts - comments

Thanks. There are more than a few of us that have the same position and feeling about introducing yet another coin. At that point, might as well detach from WC and consider it just another crap coin, because that is all you are really doing. Nothing innovated about that process. What does have promise is the notion of a coin "framework" that is modular in design, works with other alts and have the ability to support things like trading from inside the wallet, games inside the wallet, social media inside the wallet, everything, inside the wallet...

I really like this. At that point it moves from beyond being a wallet and into a full platform. I also misunderstood what mindfox was saying earlier that there is a solution possible for us to implement privacy directly into WC, that was always my preferred option.

Great developments here this week. We may not always agree, and the process for arriving at consensus may be a bit ugly at times, but I think we're proving here that it's productive when it comes to conceptually building a solid product people want and will use.

Hi Mindfox, and WC community,

I hope you see my comments as healthy debate because I have much respect for what you and the rest of the team have accomplished.   ...and I have enjoyed the debates we have had previously on this matter in IRC  Cheesy

I would like to add my thoughts on why a companion coin would be a good idea:

  • As much as we might not like the idea, WC has something to prove.  And this, for me, is the biggest reason to attempt a companion coin.  A companion coin would bring to light the commitment of the new dev team and the value of community that has been added to WC and WOC.
Value has nothing to do with dev team devotion and dedication. That in the business world goes without saying and it's not something that increases the trade value of something.
If that was the case, WC would not drop at all. To my eyes, this is an invalid point

  • You are right when you say that other coins have attempted to develop anon/privacy with limited success.  That allows room for WC and WOC to fill that void with a successful implementation of that technology.  If you are working on a unique way of implementing that technology, it could prove to be a game changer.  Making a companion coin with this feature also makes the most sense because it adds that feature to the WCF without forever joining it to WC.
This is more of a wish than a point. Besides, why WOC and not WC getting the features? Why make things more complicated to simple users?

  • A companion coin with an IPO model, like those that have been discussed, would have to help WC recover some of it's lost value.
Again a wish. Why would someone get into any IPO for a new coin, that it's sole purpose is to support the price of another coin? I really don't get it.

I would like to propose that we move on this sooner rather than later.  Continued debate is good, but debate without end helps no one (at least no one interested in WC).  It's clear that not everyone can be made happy with this topic...but I also believe that those that are committed to this coin will be able to understand whatever direction it goes without threats of mass dumping and other FUD tactics that have been used in the past.
Sure, nobody wants to stall. But, till now, points given (not only from you) are not convincing (imho) and are only to generate hype. With hype, you only get something for a small period of time and when the dust settles, you're left with more bug holders than true investors.

What is the purpose of WC in reality? What do you want from it? To rise in price and sell it? Then drop again so you can buy cheap then rise again so you can profit again?
Isn't it obvious that for you to profit, someone has to lose? And that someone is in this community also? That way, nobody will be happy, right?
So, again: what are you investing to? Profit from exchange trading or from long term adaptation?

Mindfox, the purpose of the IPO is not to artificially prop up WC but to ensure that if we did do WOC, the value from that and WC would average out together as one.

Also, that notion of "someone has to loose" for the price to rise or fall, that is not really very economically sound. Everyone looses if development of WC stops, and what we're trying to do here is brainstorm as a community as to what we can do next.

Hi everyone,

Just a heads up from chunkypools, until this issue with bittrex is resolved there may be some delays with automatic withdrawals on the NAV pool (formerly SUM2).

Your hash and coins are safe.

All the best,
