No, I'm simply passing the listing of src/qt/forms through grep for *node.ui and filtering the results by eye. The above is a first approximation anyway - the listing is stashed in the db so I can refine the pattern-matching. Some additional filtering of the contents of src/qt/forms allows some basic “feature detection” inferences, the uncontentious blockbrowser.ui suggests, well - (the code for) the GUI includes a block explorer page. Which, when iteratively applied, leads to the beginnings of a feature list for (initially) the top 250 marketcap PoS coins: https://minkiz.co/coin/cmcap-posIn the context of the data extracted by the genesisextractor, I have an interest in recording the pchMessageStart string as part of the DOACC metadata, I'm keen to start using my expanded version of Melvin Carvalho's CCY technical cryptocurrency ontology which has relations for modelling exactly these technical aspects of a cryptocurrency and so the whole lot can be published as open source in RDF, amenable to SPARQL querying. So I also developed some patterns to extract pchMessageStart strings, p2p and rpc ports, genesis block hash, merkle root hash, nonce, ntime, nbits and the various key variables. Of course, that's just what's in the default repos and, as I remind myself constantly, the map is not the territory so I'm not entirely sure that the results can be of much use with the genesisextractor other than an informal cross-check, if that. But, with respect to pchMessageStart strings (aka “magicbytes”), the existence of duplicates has been known for a while ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=202764.msg2122560#msg2122560) but I hadn't been able to sense of the overall picture until I was able process them. The tabular listing (at the above link) includes the extracted pchMessageStart string. Unique values are printed in white, duplicates are grouped by colour. I'm working on the PoW version. Cheers Graham

All crypto coins to date other than Bitcoin are 100% premined, because they have no users.
I view blatant hyperbole not as fact but as posturing. If you have a cogent argument to make, it's as well to make it coherent too. Cheers Graham

I'm currently working on a semi-automated characterisation of coin features.
That is a very nice list and I (and everybody) are appreciating your work Graham, but did you ever considered to add another row reflecting the individual coin's value? Or lack of, valuelessness actually, all of them are worthless from value or marketcap. Some even got labelled "scamcoin" occasionally, just pump and dump bags remaining. Thanks for the kind words, it's good to know that the work is gaining some favourable views. I'm personally gratified that thus far I've (mostly) successfully managed to keep my prejudices to myself while working on DOACC, (Minki’s web site is merely a set of HTML renderings of different views of the DOACC RDF graph). The initial list of anon coins now has a rendering on Minkiz: https://minkiz.co/coin/anonBut no, I've never had any intention of adding a “value” relation - for two reasons that I find very compelling: 1. I don't have a good enough model to explain adequately some of the more challenging anomalies in the domain (read “a small herd of elephants rampaging around the middle of the room”). You've already identified one of them: adequately explaining Bitcoin's primacy. Others include the uniqueness of the Shibes, the implausibly steep curve of the BTC volume long tail, the persistence of unwarranted hope in hodlers and bagholders. 2. A purely idiosyncratic assessment is pretty much guaranteed to engender resentment. Unfortunately, given the chimera of a consensus definition (in common with “beauty”, “value” is in the eyes of the beholder), an idiosyncratic assessment is the only option. So, I focus on facts and supportable inference and let the results speak to the issues. Doesn't the fact feel intrigueing that this "not anonymous" Bitcoin totally rules the scene? Always has been good enough for every possible kind of use case? Almost all coins listed above are not even accepted on distinctive tradesites?
These are all good questions/points. As you observe, they're also persistent. This piques my curiosity so I'm rootling around to see if I can get some insights by applying techniques from cognitive science. I've made some progress on the semi-automated list, at least for the top marketcap PoS coins: http://minkiz.co/coin/cmcap-pos, I intend to migrate the list to the COINZ section, once I've polished it up a bit and checked the results. Cheers Graham Edit: updated URL to point to new location

What do you mean by a 2nd tier exactly? And what does this 2nd tier really do?

List of altcoins using a second tier such as Masternodes, by market cap
... Bitcoin ...
Let me know of any others.
Spurious inclusion or inside knowledge? I have an interest in creating such list (because DOACC). I'll publish as complete a list as I can assemble (at least for those alts which still have accessible code repositories). Cheers Graham

Not wanting to be a smartass on you Graham, but.. BlackCoin is pure Proof of Stake coin, except stage of initial distribution, when it was mixed PoW and PoS coin. You are perfectly entitled to be, I try to be accurate but sometimes fail and feedback is useful. The DOACC entry for Blackcoin properly records the distribution scheme as pow and the protection scheme as pos, I should have checked. Cheers Graham

Now, now, that's a wicked sense of humour you have there. The Foundry is a piece of artwork (broadly) intended to highlight the doublethink that attends popular misconceptions of cryptography. In essence, it's a humorous piece that hopes to provoke reflection on the range and type of hashing algorithms. There's an oblique insider joke in that the template does actually exist and that the service could actually work as advertised (but I haven't got all the algos covered nor do I have any motivation for offering such a service on a commercial basis). Incidentally, the coin names in the Foundry were inspired by a Snickers ad (featuring Christopher Ryan from “The Young Ones”) ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anm2SWU_BHo(It's one of our favourites for the usefulness of the observation - “anna acrobat, anna bunsenburner” has been a persistent meme chez nous since then.)Cheers Graham

Great info!I shall relay this to the Chinese community. Do you still keep counting the alts? Some are announced on 8btc only. http://8btc.com/forum-43-1.htmlYes, still counting. Currently up to 2758 (or will be when I update later). Thanks for the reminder about the 8btc site. I had a quick check, don't seem to missed have anything pertinent. I rounded up a handful of CN-local alts listed on https://1szb.com/, it was difficult to discover much about them and there's a regrettable tendency to avoid publishing source code, so I guess they may be destined to languish. Cheers Graham

@gjhiggins Nice, thank you.
So you didn't post Ripple because it is the only one gaining value that is unrelated to a pump and dump? Probably the MS news or something.
Nope, 's just that Ripple's an altcoin in the same way that a tomato’s a fruit. The graphic is information-poor, it contains just enough information to support spatial comparison between objects that otherwise bear a close thematic similarity, else ceteris paribus becomes just too much to swallow. Ripple has progressed so far from its altcoin origins that it bears little practical relation to the rest of the gang, at least for the purposes of this informal chart. Cheers Graham

This chart is really useful. Thanks mate! Is this script or app available somewhere?
Glad you're finding it useful. I've temporarily appended it to Minkiz' front page https://minkiz.co/. I've added a chart generation datestamp in the interests of clarity. Unfortunately, I haven't yet devised a crufty solution for automating the cross-referencing so right now it has to be hand-guided which is why the schedule is -ish but I'll endeavour to post a midday(-ish) update until things settle down a bit. If you want to cut out the middleman, grab some exchange trading summary data, cross-reference the listed coins and exchanges against the DOACC metadata and Bob’s your uncle. Thanks for the positive feedback, I'll see what improvements I can wreak. Cheers Graham

Hey all I am trying to look for relatively new(ish) altcoins that is easy to mine with a laptop CPU/GPU, GPU is GTX 960M OC'ed and CPU is i7-4720HQ @ 2.80 GHz Call me retarded all you want for mining with a laptop, but I don't care, or the "other" part is phone mining/apps, like Mangocoinz if anyone knows of that, something similar to that altcoin.
I don't care if the coin is profitable, or a scam-coin, just want to do some tests to see what I can push limits as KH/s and MH/s go.
I respect your purist approach ... http://altcoins.com/cpu-altcoins <- good info on CPU/GPU ratios http://cpucoinlist.com/ <- okay https://minkiz.co/coin/algo <- comprehensive list of algos and coins that use 'em but says nothing about the CPU/GPU ratio of specific algos. Cheers Graham

Would be interesting to see some historical data (total Altcoins launched since 2011, #peak marketpap > 5M$, etc.). Not sure coinmarketcap.com or other sites make data that available.
https://coinmarketcap.com/historical/http://github.com/DOACC/individuals/https://minkiz.co/coin/name/ (click on a name for a shortform popup of DOACC metadata, alt-click on a name for a new page listing of the metadata in Minkiz database (some of which isn't appropriate for DOACC publication, thassall) I'm experimenting with a couple of charts, have appended them to the charts on Minkiz front page: https://minkiz.coHTH Cheers Graham
