1  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development on: July 12, 2019, 06:55:37 AM
I haven't come across Postopia as yet, but I'll keep an eye out for it.
It's no longer available, because the invite was shared and Rob (Hexx) finally realised not everybody in there was his friend. I saw at least @Lafu there, chatting friendly with Rob.

What is still available is the old Cryptopia discord. You can easily find an invite by googling "Cryptopia Discord". Lately the info posted there has became rather interesting. Someone claiming to be some disgruntled ex employee leaked three very informative documents.

Today someone wrote an account of events supposedly from Rob's perspective: https://steemit.com/palnet/@vcdragon/version-of-the-story-of-cryptopia-from-developer-him-self-how-it-start-and-end

The account is not entirely accurate. I want to comment on this section:
Quote
After being a shareholder for 1 month, without shareholder or director approval or consent they issued a dividend. Adam and I never received this dividend. They also gave to themselves the same amount proportionately they claimed to have given Adam and I even though we'd been there for years and they had been a shareholder for a month. Again, Adam and I never actually received the dividend they say they issued.
In his infamous Postopia, Rob said he and Adam took BTC out of Cryptopia to buy houses for themselves and Intranel told them those BTC were the dividends.

Now, back in April I did say there was infighting between the shareholders. Immediately a Cryptopia shiller jumps to dismiss the information: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1669443.msg50461797#msg50461797 (msg 3457 - 3459). Back then I did not have evidence to post, now evidence has surfaced itself.

I do think there's more evidence to come and odds have increased that some will go to jail for pulling this scam-crap on so many people. If you are involved and know something, you may want to get on the good side of the police by disclosing what you know, before they brand you as accomplice. Notice how the same shiller again tries to dismiss when I said this a month ago: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1669443.msg51516750#msg51516750 (msg 3910 - 3911).

Tick-tock...

There was (or still is / private) chat on Discord, hosted by Rob Hex himself, aptly named "Postopia". There you could find these guys talking friendly with Rob.

Who, BTW, didn't seem to give a sht about customer's funds. Someone asked him after the liquidation start if he felt now more insulated from liability. Upon which he answered "What am I liable for?"

We have certain legal requirements and obligations both in New Zealand and internationally that liquidators must meet, such as Anti Money Laundering/Know Your Client (AML/KYC) requirements when considering any repayment or return of assets.
B.S. They don't have more obligations than the liquidated company does. It's an attempt to scare grey/black money. May indicate they do not have all the crypto.

From the updated FAQ:

Quote
16.   How do I fill in the unsecured claim form?
In respect of filling in unsecured claim forms, stakeholders need to state their holding in crypto-assets and provide any supporting evidence of the holding that they may have.
They have all the evidence they need in the database. Again it indicates they do not have all the crypto.

If there are still current or former Cryptopia employees here, here's another quick fact: if you are aware of any criminal conduct there, you have a legal obligation to come forward and spill the beans on the perps.
I felt I hat to point this out given that Cryptopia certainly had employees but everyone is keeping silent about the shady details of the scam-hack and the subsequent trim on all accounts.

Just a hypothesys for now, but I believe proof might surface: the 344 BTC Grant-Thornton is so eager to sell (they are calling it "Company BTC") are from the haircut.

Some quick facts you may not be aware of: Adam Clark wiped assetylene off the face of the internet - the DNS does not resolve anymore. He also deleted the twitter page: https://twitter.com/assetylene_nz
He updated his linkedin page accordingly.

Someone should plant a red flag in this scamer's profile as well. Too bad linkedin does not have a red flag system.

Most likely, never.

Did anyone wonder why they didn't enable some valuable coins? Did you wonder why ZEC and ZCL remained offline? How much do you want to bet the liquidators won't find any of the sellable privacy coins?

Site in maintanance for 8 hours or so and no update whatsoever, not even on their Discord https://discordapp.com/invite/2kMgEgw

Just like in January, no shit given whatsoever about the people who's money they keep hostage.

Alan Booth was Cryptopia's first CEO: https://www.reddit.com/r/Cryptopia/comments/81psi6/cryptopias_new_ceo_alan_booths_first_letter_to/
He left sometime in 2018.

Peter Dawson is the company director since June 2018 and is Rob Dawson's father. Rob and Adam were again appointed directors in late February 2019: https://app.companiesoffice.govt.nz/companies/app/ui/pages/companies/5392901/directors?backurl=%2Fcompanies%2Fapp%2Fui%2Fpages%2Fcompanies%2Fsearch%3Fmode%3Dstandard%26type%3Dentities%26q%3DCryptopia

Adam Clark started beta on his new exchange in September 2018. He wasn't a director of Cryptopia since March.
CEFS started dumping in December. There hasn't been a shareholder situation filed since June 2018, although until then there were frequent updates.
Trade volume and ETH dumping could be seen on exchange.

Any other facts you wish to deny?

For a while Cryptopia had a professional CEO, who quit arround June 2018. CEOs do not usually quit thriving businesses. But this one did. After that, @Triple_HeXXX's daddy became interim managing director of Cryptopia. A bit of a strange move for a founder, to appoint his daddy instead of himself. Coincidentally or not, about the same time the other founder @sa_ddam213 started developing an alternate exchange. Then a month before the alleged hack, someone started dumping CEFS. CEFS being essentially a money printing machine, you just had to watch money rolling in. But dumped them nevertheless. And a few days before the alleged hack, trading volume dropped, as if someone or some groups in the know started turning off their trading bots in anticipation of something. And a few hours before the alleged hack, ETH dumped on Cryptopia.

Can you spell i-n-f-i-g-h-t-i-n-g? How about i-n-s-i-d-e  j-o-b?

From this posting linked above: https://cointhoughts.co/exchange-dividend-token-hit-all-time-low-one-week-before-alleged-3-5-million-hack/

Quote
Trading volume on the exchange's CEFS markets, Cryptopia's tokenized shareholder asset, inexplicably increased significantly in the days leading up to the theft, yet there had been no meaningful announcement, news, or rumor related to Cryptopia or its operations. The trading action was led by steady sell pressure and pushed the market price of CEFS to a record low of 0.0503 BTC and a USD all-time low of $178.62. The token is down over 50% since Dec 24, 2018, just three weeks ago.

Quote
Such unprecedented sell-off of CEFS just before the theft of several million dollars in tokens is not a coincidence, I assure you; it indicates the crime was an inside job involving at least one major shareholder. Obviously the thief was blind with greed, aiming to dump the shares before nabbing $13 million, leaving behind loads of evidence likely to lead investigators right to him.

Quote
The latest news from Cryptopia confirms they, too, see strong evidence of an insider operation – law enforcement and government agencies were quietly notified and promptly stormed the company's offices and declared the facility locked-down while staff were interviewed. Management clearly believed the thief was still there, and I'll wager they have a good idea who was involved based on the sloppy, amateur execution and the blatant trading activity taking place beforehand.

Interesting speculation, but what if they were ALL in on the inside job and this is just a pretense? What if they are covering for long-ago stolen or lost or misused funds? Because if the funds were missing not now but sometime ago, you can't post a TX, right?

They claim so far BTC, ETH and LTC are stolen. We may know the TX for ETH from elementus, there was some indication about LTC, but it was all moved, not 43% and we know nothing about BTC moving.

Someone steals your stuff. Your stolen stuff is locked in a container somewhere down the street, in plain sight. You don't tell anybody your stuff is there, although your neighbours and the city locals are very amenable and willing to keep watch for free. The thief starts moving your stuff but only the neighbours seem to take notice. A coleague of yours who was robbed in the same way asked everybody for help and told everybody where the stolen stuff is.

Now who acts like that in reality? Who keeps the txs a secret when the community can do so much and only the cooperation of the community is your hope of retriving stolen stuff, when it surfaces on exchanges?

Doesn't this seemingly illogical manner of acting make everybody wonder if you are in on the job?

I'm talking to you, Hex. I mean Ben.

The point where the two situations diverged is this:
Quote
For the loss caused to our users, DragonEx will take the responsibility no matter what.

1. Cryptopia has issued no such statement.
2. Cryptopia has taken what was allegedly stolen from everybody's balance.

And it makes no sense to keep secret what was allegedly stolen, unless you don't want it found.

What's with all the sheep all of a sudden begging to be parted with their money? The coins were safeguarded by Cryptopia, so they must take the blame that is theirs.
14  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development on: February 25, 2019, 03:30:32 PM
You push a narrative that the Cryptopia management is not involved whereas the Police specifically stated in their update here
No, my friend. It's the agenda you are pushing: your coleague here said what he said and the statement on Discord said what it said. Carefully avoiding to implicate anyone who might get asked to compensate the investors.

You aren't even remotely subtle in pushing your version of the events to suit your agenda. Disgusting
No, I do not intend to be subtle. I'm actually blunt: we want our funds back. It was your responsibility to safeguard them and you have failed. You must pay what you owe us. Don't think hiding behind the police might allow you to get away with not paying.

Is that disgusting? Well, you must descend from the clouds and get reaquinted with the harsh world of you owing us money.

Cryptopia is a Limited liability company. (LLC) It has no "owners". It has shareholders and a director.
The shareholders don't run the company or have any say in the management of the company.
If you buy shares in Microsoft can you speak on their behalf ?
Actually a LLC is a type of company designed to bring to partnerships the advantages of corporations. But usually in LLCs the founders are very much involved, like in a partnership. But even considering this stupid example Bill Gates, one of the founders, ran the company for like 20 years.

So are we to believe the guys who "put all their life savings" into this exchange don't know nothing and are not calling the shots? That's laughable. It's the reason the police was involved, to protect the guys calling the shots from liability. Of course at the expense of the traders. CZ from Binance is very much involved in day-to-day and very active in social media. Binance is huge compared to Cryptopia. Busoni from Poloniex vas very much involved in day-to-day until he sold the exchange. And Poloniex is pretty big compared to Cryptopia. Arthur Hayes from Bitmex is very much involved and active in SM. And Bitmex is in a league of it's own.

Laughable, I say. What is the official contact email for the company? You know, the email where authorities contact a company or where third parties direct their official notices, like "we'll sue your asses if you don't fork over our coins that you hold"? Well, this page says it's hex@cryptopia.co.nz. Now, who's nickname from Cryptopia was something with hex? I bet it's not Digger.

Meanwhile, the "anon" mod is family. Is that you hex trolling your investors?

I know Rob is Hexx {1}, but am unsure if Adam is Saddam or ?? - anyone?
So I suppose this A fellow signing the tweet where he promised they'll resume soon is Adam? Promised while he knew there was a breach?

Latest discord update from Cryptopia Managing Director

Quote
While the NZ Police can state that they have handed our building back to us and that they are placing no constraints on the company resuming trading, there are a number of things that the company must consider first before any trading could recommence.

It is important to consider the timeline of this event: Firstly, the crime/hack/breach was identified on the evening of 14 January 2019. The company staff that identified the event immediately froze the exchange and locked down the platform; they then notified the NZ government authorities, first the NZ Police High Tech Crime Group and second, the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC, a division of the Govt Communications Security Bureau or GCSB), third, the NZ Financial Management Authority.
So you see, the police was called by some staff that identified the event. Not by the exchange bosses. The bosses are not involved at all. Cos that's how a business operates, low level employees don't go to the people in charge to ask "hey, boss, we fucked up monumentally, what do we do??" No, at this company is the regular staff who are calling in the high tech crimes unit and the financial authority. A. kept responding on twitter they'll reopen trading soon, but unfortunately some intern tasked with maintaining the network cables and the mouse pads called the police.
