Is there anyone on here with some expertise in Masternodes/ voting, e.g. worked on PIVX and or other projects.
If so can you please get in touch. We are studying masternodes and possible scenarios to add them onto the SLR layer.

Many thanks,

Congratulation! SolarCoin community.
Now, SLR just has passed the gravity zone and entered 1$ level successfully.
To the Sun!  Grin

I am getting calls from a solar installer that has always ignored my crypto ramblings to them about SolarCoin since 2014.
Now they say WOW! An extra $2/ MWh for us! It makes a small but meaningful difference to our project profit margins!

Amazing work guys! Well done

Cheers, to Orion via the Sun.

Be professional guys. Please.

Yes, arbitrage between Bittrex and Lykke thing is professional.
When SLR on the bull run, the price gap between exchanges makes good chance to arbitrage.
I'm waiting for spread!!!  Grin

Concur in full.

Up to $2 this morning and every sign of some stability.  A good amount of movement, so some wallets are unloading, but that is a good thing when done with moderation.

SLR is a thin market and can be easily ramped both ways.  However having more wallets is definitely a good thing, so this increased activity with a relentless ramp up is as good as it gets.  However, beware the Ides of Hubris (to mortally mangle a metaphor).

Enjoy the ride and by all means savour that uniquely private sensation of Schadenfreude (that only works in German) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schadenfreude, but never, ever, gloat.   Victory is its' own reward.

T

You make a good point. The SLR project seems to be built on a foundation of good will toward men, rather than on scorn toward the oppressors. Nick Gogerty has been especially positive every step of the way and sets a good example for all of us to follow.

Concur in full, and a good example for this project.

Where is your team located btw?

The SolarCoin Foundation is registered in Delaware. But very decentralized with Dev's in Colorado, and Georgia.
ElectriCChain is registered in Andorra, and has a lot of support in Europe and the European Solar Industry. Some tech people in ElectriCChain are in Tokyo and the UK.
Solcrypto is registered in Hong-Kong and is working in Hong-Kong and Tokyo. Mainly focused on the Asia-Pacific region. Our claims have grown month on month this year in 2017. We are excited for more claims in 2018!

Overall, the Solarcoin-group slack is very decentralized and we have inputs from US, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Brazil, Australia, NZ, Japan, Korea, India, all parts of Europe and now recently Nigeria and South Africa. Claims are in 51 countries now and that country list is growing each month.
Francois mentioned in a press-release recently that claims have hit 1% of global solar capacity. So only 999% to go over the next few years.

Many thanks,

Happy New Year for 2018!

you need solid CPU and some amount of RAM which the Raspb does not have.  No need to torment your little raspi Smiley

How about Odroid XU4 or similar with over 4GB RAM?

Looks great, but how do I use it??

The protocol? SolarCoin? Or Know-Your-Device (KYD) configuration?

Thanks

Big step forward for us today!
In our version 2 datalogger, we successfully KYD hashed the physical electrical measurement parameters of an in-line current sensor with the SLR blockchain in a concatenation anchor hash. This adds security to our datalogger at the grid edge. The datalogger is running 3 operating systems.

Many thanks!

The only thing that keeps me from investing in this coin is the shitload of coins that is called 'total supply'. 98B? Really? Can someone give me 1 good reason why to buy? Price will keep going down when they release all the coins right?

Coins are released over time with claims, there's a 40 year timetable that we're about 3 years in right now.

The increase of circulation of coin is tied to increase of claimants. Growing network is source of value. There are people who called Solarcoin SCAM 3 years ago for the amount for premine. Do your own research.

...plus to further emphasize and clarify, that an increase of claimants = increase in value, thus as more coins are added to circulation, then the value of this coin actually increases (due to increasing number of users). This is vastly different than with bitcoin or litecoin because with these coins, it only takes a single user to mine/release ALL of the coins into circulation. But with solarcoin, the coins will only be substantially released when there is a substantial increase in the number of users, thus value inherently increases along with the increasing circulation. In other words, the only way we will ever see 98 billion SLR actually in circulation is if there are more users of Solarcoin then there are current users of bitcoin. And can you imagine what the SLR price might be by that point?

It goes so much further too. Just realize the power usage of Bitcoin vs power creation at 98B is staggering! Bitcoin drains power, Solarcoin helps generate power. Bitcoin controls Solarcoin but when Bitcoin becomes too controlled and centralized there are Alt coins ready to take its place. What if all Bitcoin flowed into one alt coin. Would be massive price adjustment. The profit taking would be astounding and could flow back into Bitcoin but if it stabilizes and stays in Solarcoin then it incentivizes Solar and gets people involved in Crypto and can sustain themselves off grid. Just by doing what they would normally do off grid but now linked to the Blockchain through Solarcoin.

If people took all the hardware they purchased to mine Bitcoin and had invested in Solar I think the entire world would be powered by the sun by now. lol

So now realize that the only way to really make money now in Bitcoin is Alt coins and you get in on the ground floor. What are you going to do buy more Bitcoin and wait for it to double? If you just got into Crypto you now are in a precarious position. Buy 1 Bitcoin at $8000 you must sell at $9000 and wait for it to go back to $8000 to rebuy. Then it goes to 10,000 instead. Maybe you held till 10,000. When will you sell? Wait for 20K? How is that going to work out if you just hold on to the coin? Maybe it goes up to a million just don't sell any time soon. But now with Solarcoin you back a network and get the chance to grow exponentially. If every holder of Bitcoin invested they would see how powerful alts can be, then they may not need to go back to Bitcoin.

The speculative flows of crypto as so insane and fast now. Yesterday I literally was doing a report and soldering, then I looked back at PIVX and the price moved 70-80% in about 1 hour. These PnD flows are very quick.
I think it might only get worse in the short term? What's your opinion on it cryptoNick?

Many thanks!
Yours in the sun!

It will only get worse and larger swings. To sustain the marketcap of Bitcoin while allowing people to cash out created a crazy disparity of positions where some exit now others must hold long and hedge like mad when the large swing comes along. Funny how it is now at 10K and I wrote this a few days ago. Seems like the profits made from these swings are used to pump the BTC market.

It was great for merchants that accepted Bitcoin initially but those just getting in may hesitate to accept due to their costs of good and profits being eroded in an afternoon possibly. A business can't sustain this volatility unless they can also go long and have the reserves, or they have enough volume at each level to balance out. It is very finicky since you may have more volume at the higher levels than lower also. People hold for profit then spend for leverage.

BTC is now meant for storing value now at $10 per transaction. No way to buy a cup of coffee. So Alts will have their place always...

The MarketCap seems way too high for its useage right now. Can industry use Bitcoin to buy raw materials? I guess they could profit from it and buy sure. But most are locked into distro channels of Fiat. So how is this type of MarketCap even feasible? The Power consumption? ASIC Mining expenditure? Now on the other hand if the powers that be would just place their Bitcoin in a wall on the exchanges at 10K the market could stabilize and PEG. They could swing with inflation or smaller margins to make Bitcoin more like a currency. Then the math is easier too lol. The price could glide up then at a decent tick and mimic an excellent CD. Although this is possibly what is planned for when BTC is at 100K. It is going to be a crazy ride! Lets hope it is SLR powered by then!

Really good insights here!

Thanks, today we also realized that we can add a front end to the RPC calls.
But maybe people are already doing that with Raspberry Pi's? Or with the upcoming Copay wallet. Most welcome to join us on the telegram channel too for technical discussions.

in what countries is SLR accepted as utility payment?

France, also here in Japan they accept BTC for electricity. So we just do a conversion.
I want to ask if anyone can help us get SLR added to shapeshift?

Hello we had some questions in the community about how the Chainz API counts the SolarCoin Node count?

Found here:- https://chainz.cryptoid.info/slr/#!network

Total connections is 25 to 26 today. Yesterday I noticed it was over 50 connections. Why has it dropped considerably in the last day or so?
Maybe Chainz is only seeing a part of the total network?

But looking at the country count split up, the number of connections has stayed a similar amount when it is split up between the countries.

In addition when you have a look at the node count under the network tab, this is sum of the actual number of IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.
So, When I run a number of nodes under one IPv4 address, i know for sure for example that I am running 3 nodes, but this list is only showing one of my IPv4 addresses.
Has anyone tested this for IPv6? I am going to change my router to IPv6 and have a look.

Anyway, it would be great if someone with much deeper knowledge in this area has some points and teach me how that works?

Many thanks,
Best,
lfloorwalker.

Great news!

Clarification of SolarCoin Foundation & Greeneum relationship.
https://solarcoin.org/en/node/417

"Global SolarChange affiliate status is now under review due to potential mis-representation of their role in creating SolarCoin.

Greeneum is a stand alone project in which none of the SolarCoin Foundation founders has a role or formal knowledge of the project specifics."

15 million coins traded up to 50 cents and a few hundred thousand coins to crash us right back to where we started before the pump.

Crazy part is i do not see any new large wallets.

The coin stayed on the exchange. It doesn't have to go anywhere. If there are only 33 Million coins and someone bought out 15 million they can control their position better.  vipgelsi you own 10 million right, so at least we know where they are. Smiley

So now about the so called Dump, it is not a dump in this case. Think about it. Why would you buy high and sell low. Most of those trades are from the bots taking profit and resetting the price to normalize and encourage selling. The buy side will dry up again down to 7 bitcoin and then boost 100's of Bitcoin volume again. Just watch. They don't want to buy high and sell low. The buyers had to move up and drop down so that they can get an even better position later. The coin would not drop down if they bought their own coin from the exchange, that is a true pump. Then it stays because they own the Bitcoin they just sold and buy out other people positions on the way up. Then they can sustain against sells since they own the other positions.

The Attrition that has been happening also made that higher price paid for SLR not that big of a deal. So now when it moves up next time there will be less coin to crush their reserves of Bitcoin, and you will also see small wallets holding and big wallets selling during the run up. They can sustain a higher market cap and hold back their SLR in reserve. It makes the supply smaller and leverages their positions if they don't sell or dump as people think will happen. That is why you see them pull back and stop buying, so not a dump just a large supply of coin to capture and they are taking advantage of it at lower prices. So don't sell to them! LOL take your coin off the market and let them pump it. Seriously then you only sell when you need liquidity and they may provide that for you. But by then they will have a reason to Buy SLR meaning they have a glut of Older Solar Panels sitting on shelves in warehouses. And think about the people who get this deal, later they will come back and buy the latest Solar Panel from this company as it leveraged them into SLR which went to $30 a coin and also saved them money on their utility. Also think about the people who got Bitcoin for the SLR on the way up now can cash out and pay the difference the Company with the Glut of Solar Panels asks for the older panels. This is what they would normally get if they recycled the panels and the costs of goods like Labor and electricity to make the panels. That is where things get really good, it becomes a self sustaining market since people get something of value in all aspects.

I hope this is what is happening!

I hope so, we are just looking at our feet, trying to build better and more scalable data-loggers.

Cheers,
-lfloorwalker!

p.s. I think the SolarCoin community is the best. Higher consciousness or something. I've always enjoyed interactions with this community. #thesuniswithinyou

Hi all, today Solcrypto has fixed our claiming instance to the SolarCoin API. We are now beginning to process our own internal backlog of claims. Please also be aware we are getting more users now in our site, steady growth over the last months.

On the datalogger side, we are now implementing two alphas. They continue testing for stability. We are talking with some other firms also.

Best,
