1  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: August 15, 2017, 03:36:22 PM
So which version will work with segwit, the one that is supported by Bitcoin core? Is that 1Meg now lowmem version? I would like to stay with P2P for Bitcoin and not fork to an alt coin. After reading the post in the link provided this again makes sense to me https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2090805.0.

It seems that there is a divide on which direction P2P will take. We have the old fork still running that will not be compatible when segwit is implemented around August 23rd, true? Then the the 1Meg or lowmem version that would be the correct version for segwit, true? Then we have segwit 2 which will be an alt coin.

I tried to run the new 1mb_segwit version but I get  Coin daemon too old! Upgrade! I am running Bitcoin Core 14.2. Does this have something to do with -rpcserialversion which I should not have to set as the default should be 1?

The lowmem version works fine.

4  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Found this miner on Craigslist for $75, good deal or junk? on: August 08, 2017, 04:12:24 AM
If you want to play around start with something like this https://www.amazon.com/GekkoScience-2-Pac-Compac-Bitcoin-BM1384x2/dp/B06XBWK2W5/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1502165368&sr=8-4-fkmr1&keywords=gecko+bitcoin+miner.  Gecko can be found here in the hardware as well.

Block on jtoomimnet (Bitcoin 1MB chain): https://blockchain.info/block-index/1611649

Mempool wasn't full, so only 504 kB. Previous and subsequent blocks from other pools were also not full.

On the fork with approximately 1.4PH? This is the same that Windpath is now running correct? I had just changed my node this morning but I don't see it on either.
6  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9 Fan Failure on: August 03, 2017, 06:04:50 PM
Yes, you can request warranty work if you are still within the period but that would be the long road. You can get one through https://bitmainwarranty.com/shop/products/us/fan_s7/ if you are in the US. They do have other locations as well so visit the site to find a location near you.

Look this up in the ALTCOIN section, this is for BITCOIN. Try here as this has been discussed in depth already.

8  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A7 announced on: July 30, 2017, 03:13:52 AM
Is it possible to use 2 Power Supplies?

Yes but I wouldn't go lower than a 750watt as that will be at its safety limit IMO. Remember 110 VAC power supplies are most efficient roughly anywhere from 50%-80% depending on the rating (bronze/gold/platinum). If it was a server power supply you could push those harder. Just plug the each board to one power supply only.

There is the server power supply route and breakout board which would be a overall cost savings.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Import Duty Rate on L3+ Shipped to USA on: July 21, 2017, 01:27:14 AM
Does anyone know what the import duty rate is on L3+'s and PSU's shipped from Bitmain into the USA?

Thanks

i'd like to know as well

Does anyone know?

Depends on how many you get. One unit (depending on what batch you bought/buy) and a power supply with get through at no additional cost. Four units alone will cost. Once you past a certain threshold, $2000 right now IAW https://www.cbp.gov/trade/basic-import-export/internet-purchases you may pay. Here is a quote from the link provided "Pitfalls: If the item's value is more than $2,000, it may be held at the mail facility until you can arrange for a formal entry. This may require either hiring a customs broker to clear your goods or you may file the paperwork yourself." key phrase "may be held". Other important information can be found here as well about commercial purchases having a limit of $2500 before paying duty.

Are there any import fees and customs clearance process?
US depends on how many. One or two at a time no problem.

Questions:
Running bitcoin 14.2 with the -addnode=.location.fibre.bitcoinrelaynetwork.org, is this correct? I have been whitelisted.

Running 16.0-4-gde 1be30, is there another version I should be running for BIP 91?

If not then what is the version as I would like to add the BIP 91 nodes as stated above.

If these have been answered can you please provide the links? I have search here and the web and can’t seem to put my finger on it.

L3+ still available, S9 sold out.
13  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A7 announced on: July 06, 2017, 03:59:26 AM
Assume you are talking about per A7, are you on your own node? Mine was no where close to that rate when I was mining on my node. I did update to the latest MM and controller FW.

Is it luck or that we are divided? Angry
15  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: ASIC and video card recommendations ($30 to best answer) on: June 26, 2017, 06:49:26 PM
With respect to your first question, look for used Avalon A6/A7 721 miners or get new A7 units from http://canaan.io. They currently have an A7 741 and might have an 761 unit in the future. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1683396.0, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1673843.380

^^frodocooper-Yeah I get the variance on P2P but this happened before we ramped up last week that is why I started to dig a bit. All good info you have though.
Soi I had read the A7 thread, I guess as there is not a problem with the Avalon units there is not the need for specific threads as with other units.

Is there something I am missing about the Avalon 741 setup and P2P as it is not getting the amount of shares to reflect the payout as others with the same hash rate. I know shares and luck come into play but there is such a difference I feel the need to ask...

How much of a difference are we talking about?

The Avalon 741 has the new driver and MM updates. If it is one of those issues where it is just not compatible with the quick "start-drop-start" environment of P2P that will be a shame as I enjoy this rather than conventional pools.

Check if one, or some, of your 741's are dropping off after a while of mining. I had been struggling with an issue where both of my 741's would detach from the Controller at random, and only one 741 would reattach about a minute later. This beta 7411706-3e3ab60 MM firmware fixes that bug. The latest stable 7411706-3162860 MM firmware doesn't.

Edit: If you haven't already, try running your 741's with the "--failover-only" option. And be sure that both your node's and Controller's clocks are set correctly and have their NTP clients enabled and synced to "pool.ntp.org". In some rare and random cases, this, and setting both clocks to UTC, might lower your DOA rates.

Windpath's active tab had me ~3TH for one 741

Interesting about the MM Firmware, I will try that.

I do failover only but the NTP client I used was Colorado, I will change them. Thanks for the info, is there a 741 topic I missed?

I know shares and luck come into play but there is such a difference I feel the need to ask. My node is not forked, running version 16.0-4-gde1be30. I ran a node in the 2012-2014 timeframe so I had some catching up to do and read through the pages from where I left off. I see the old relay has now changed, there is a forked P2P version running, and some of the configuration options used in the past are not optimal for the current environment.

The Avalon 741 has the new driver and MM updates. If it is one of those issues where it is just not compatible with the quick "start-drop-start" environment of P2P that will be a shame as I enjoy this rather than conventional pools.

Any suggestions/help would be appreciated. Yes, it is good to be back. I see some of the old players are still around as well.

For those that have updated their 741's to 7411703-a6ef750 MM Firmware, how many resets are your miners doing in a day? I have already had 4 and it has not been 24 hours yet. I have updated the controller firmware as well to 20170310. I did add --avalon7-nonce-mask 26 to more options after the first two resets so it seems to ramp up quickly compared to the initial restarts.
