So can anybody tell me, whats the sitation with p2pool, segwit, segwit2x etc? if i just use the bitcoin core client.. and use the official p2pool..
1. will p2pool accept segwit blocks / segwit tx? 2. will p2pool produce segwit blocks when its locked in? 3. can i vote for proposals ( when i find the block on my p2pool node ), or is a "clean" coinbase enforced for all p2pool nodes? 4. anything else to consider when mining around 1. August? how big is the possibility of ending on an oprhaned chain? 5. is it possible, to "switch sides" with p2pool easily? ( use another bitcoin client, which will fork somehow )

1. No, the official p2pool hasn't merged my PR yet. 2. See 1. 3. You can put anything you want in the coinbase but you would have to modify the p2pool code if your full node doesn't include your desired data in the block template.

crypto.office-on-the.net applied my segwit patches, not github.com/p2pool/p2pool.

I think everything is fine I do not think there is any conflict between nodes adopters of segwit and nodes not adopters

I'm a BIP148 follower and i run a complet node+P2Pool with a forced +BIP148 command line (switch activate automaticly on 1st August).
I don't care about the activity on the 1st August (on this full node, i plan to not use it before september), but if the local blockchain rollback every 2-4 hours ... what the shares of P2Pool do at this moment ?

right.. but if i unterstood it correctly: several partys ( inculding seg2x and UASF ) will reject blocks without BIP141 soon. even though i might add this fix ( https://github.com/p2pool/p2pool/pull/327 ) to my p2pool node, chances are high, that an "old" p2pool node could find our p2pool bitcoin block. this block will then be oprhaned ( which is very bad for our luck. ) so my advice is to stop mining p2pool now. a high fraction of the shares could be worthless. we need a reliable solution to this problem. ( but this probably can only be found after august )

Even then my patch activates only after 95% of p2pool upgrades. I suppose when activation of segwit in bitcoin becomes certain my PR will be merged.

From Matt Corallo (aka TheBlueMatt) Hey y'all,
Please keep in mind that neither James' segsignal nor Jeff's btc1 have any logic to ensure they connect to other BIP 91 nodes. Because such nodes are very few, and because other nodes will *not* relay blocks which are not their best chain, it is very possible that your nodes will not receive notifications of new blocks on the BIP 91 chain.
This means that any time a miner mines a block which does meet the BIP 91 requirements, the fork block which does will take a longer amount of time to reach your nodes, if you see it at all!
Please, please make absolutely sure that your BIP 91-enforcing nodes have connections (via -addnode=$NODE or addnode $NODE add) too other BIP 91 miners.
Additionally, the public FIBRE nodes will be adapted later today to relay all blocks which they receive which are recent. This should be sufficient to solve the issue as well.
In conclusion, MAKE SURE you are connected to the public FIBRE network as well as other miners BEFORE the BIP 91 activation takes place. Keep in mind that bitcoind is limited to 8 addnodes (this limit is separate from the outbound connections limit).
Thanks and good luck, Matt

Questions: Running bitcoin 14.2 with the -addnode=.location.fibre.bitcoinrelaynetwork.org, is this correct? I have been whitelisted.
Running 16.0-4-gde 1be30, is there another version I should be running for BIP 91?
If not then what is the version as I would like to add the BIP 91 nodes as stated above.
If these have been answered can you please provide the links? I have search here and the web and can’t seem to put my finger on it.
