For my part, I'm developing a service exclusive to PND, which you can find here: 1dash.netIt's a user defined dashboard. What this means is that, instead of having data thrown at you, you choose what data you want to see, and the layout with which you want to see them. It's designed with ease of use in mind, you can just drag&drop and resize your panels whichever way you like. Think iGoogle for cryptos. 1# Update! This update is both for funcionality and usbility. The Bter Depth charts are now working, so you can track the pairs on the biggest chineese exchange. Also, a simple loading ui has been added, with an error message in case something bad happens. You should probably reload the changes with a force-refresh (ctrl+f5) because your browser might have cached the content. We have some other projects that are being worked on currently why we wrap up the hybrid wallet. One of them is obviously the community funding platform, but also some other things Our marketing team is also quite busy, we don't even know what weekends are anymore, everything is a workingday  |

The Pandacoin Development Team With that I'll be one step closer to push PND to my not-so-nerdy friends... The volatility of price related to BTC price and market manipulations is still a drawback (they're mostly over 30-40 years old and pretty conservative on some aspects). The "cloud staking" approach would pose more security and reliability problems... I like my coins in my pocket, sort of speak. On a visual cue of the quoted post: I wonder what creature will be pandificated for the next release... Ants? Bees? Or something larger, like elephants?  Later edit: On a more serious note, PND hardware wallets with those features would be a blast... Maybe next year? all animals are pandas. we've discussed hardware wallets, it's something tricky trustwise, how do you know there is no trojan on there? it has serious security flaws |

Why is this announcement so important for most cryptocoins?Some people seem to not get the importance of these new announced features. Picture this: you're trying to get someone to use a cryptocurrency You: "This cryptocurrency is sooooo cool, you should check it out, I will send you some (insert cryptocurrency you want)" Him: "Oh cool, I just downloaded the wallet, my address is (insert address)" You: "Ok, I send it to you" 5 mins pass by Him: "WTF dude I thought you said this was fast, I still didn't get it" You: "I send it to you, look (insert coinexplorer txid)... Ooh wait, is it synced?" Him: "Synced? what's that? Oh now I see that little bar." You: "Yeah it usually takes 8-10 hours" Him: "WTF... this is lame, I'm going back to (insert stupid game)" With the Instant Sync Technology (IST) you will see incoming transfers instantly, as fast as you would see them with a normal synced wallet. Even during the syncing process the new transactions will be coming in. You know the pain of syncing an older coin like Bitcoin/Litecoin of even Dogecoin? Well take the time it would take for you to do that on average and then divide it by 20/30, that's how long it will take with the Rapid Blockchain Download (RBD). The older a coin gets, the bigger the blockchain, the longer it takes. Other coins will have no option other than to implement something like this. I hear you coming: what about Litewallets? That's a solution right? Most of them are not userfriendly, also when you have a PoS coin that doesn't really apply, it doesn't help your network be secure since it only downloads headers. We do however offer people to just use Pandabank Lite, since we want to provide something useful to every type of user. I've been testing it a lot and it's really cool and really fast, but I'm already used to it now sadly So I'm already looking forward to the next feature!

They're speeding up the syncing speed ON TOP of the lightweight wallet they're gonna release. (Meaning the faster syncing speed is not because of the lightweight wallet but the actual core wallet). This is groundbreaking!
Correct. This way our users can see and utilize their Pandacoins right after installation, and very quickly be able to participate in earning interest AND help secure the Pandacoin network to prevent 51% attacks! All without relying on relying on a liteweight client. Any proof of stake based cryptocurrencies that survive in the long run will inevitably have gigabytes upon gigabytes of blockchain data to download, similar to Bitcoin today. There will inevitably be a large chunk of new users that will want to opt for a liteweight wallet just because they want to be able to use their coins ASAP. However, this would mean they can't earn interest nor help secure the network. So we basicly get a full wallet with the speed of a lite wallet, that's nice (+ the lite wallet of course). But I'd be interested in knowing that is it technically possible to make a lite wallet that earns interest and helps secure the network? As like you said, at some point we will have big blockchains taking gigabytes of space and it would be nice to be able to stake without the need to download all that (even if it's done really fast). I'm not a very technical person but from what I understand it's not easy to do. To make sure the network is secure you need people with full blocks. Lite wallets don't download the full blockchain but only the headers of the block. Maybe there is a way but I don't think there's an easy solution. |

This is possibly the biggest crypto wallet innovation that had been released in this history of the cryptoworld? Begs the question why havn't any other alt coin teams tried anything like this before. Blockchains are just going to keep on getting bigger. POS based coins don't want their users using litewallet in general as they dont secure the network or stake, but eventually when we're looking at double digit gigabytes of data, there's bound to be users that need a lite client. But great forward thinking by the devs. You guys have stepped up your game big time. I no longer have any idea what we as a community should expect next...(in a good way! ) Most alt coin wallets are based on the Bitcoin QT wallet so they probably just don't have the skill to code something like this from the scratch. I don't know if we can call this the biggest wallet innovation released so far but it would certainly be a welcome one to many, if not most coins. Now that I think of it... How many coins actually have a lite wallet? I think you're missing the point, the point is not just the Lite wallet. It's the syncing speed, on average we were able to speed it up syncing by 20-40 times. Which coin doesn't want that in their wallet? |
