If anyone agrees.... the super fat red/green arrows, if they can be slimmed down please say something.

All users of Opal whether you post normally or not. If the super FAT green/red arrows would be a good idea to slim down, please say something now before the wallet is released.
122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN: [OPAL] | POS | Anon Encryption Suite | HTML5 WALLET + STORE IN DEVELOPMENT on: October 25, 2014, 10:26:21 PM

This one is much better.  There's enough going on with the logo, that the "fuzzy TV interference" movement isn't too necessary. Maybe one quick one and that's it. I think the "tv reception interference" happened like 3 or 4 times, which was a little redundant and over used.

But the rest of it looks great.  (If the loading screen isn't necessary, I'd make that part quicker. Everyone hates waiting for loading if they can avoid it)

But the 3D closeup of the sparkling, etc, that was all great stuff.

The words to describe this newer opening is one is:

"of substance", "strong", new, innovative, futuristic

(Oh, and the part I'm pointing out = keywords: bad reception, weak signal)

We will be opening the market place in a couple of weeks. It would be a great time to register Merchant interest at this point.

Would also be great to get some feed back on some intro videos we are working on..

http://youtu.be/hBL1DlQ7ByU

While the animation looks neat, it gives the following impressions:

a) Alien, dark, horror, angry

b) Death, ugly, sadistic, evil

Are these the images Opal wants to leave in a person's mind? It gives the opposite effect of wanting someone to want to get involved in something so evil, like the movie "Aliens 1-3"

Teenagers will go that's awesome, and wicked.  Business people (35 yrs to 45 yrs old) with all the money who want to get heavily invested in Opal will take one look at that and walk in the other direction.

Believe me, there are a lot of wallstreet types who invest in crypto as a hobby and they have $50,000 to $100,000 to use as spending cash for it.

The animation shows talent, but the execution conveys a severely negative connotation and actually would hurt the image.

So I'm not fond of it.  Being honest.

I hope someone makes a youtube that explains how to use Opal's wallet.

This guy's videos use to be good, he would have been ideal to put one out for Opal:

Last week, I bought some NRS from Cryptsy. But now I dont know if my NRS is new. If they are  old, thatwill be the bullshit!

I think they are the NRS 1.0 original ones. People like you will still buy and sell those (you're proof of that)

The new NRS 2.0 block chain is still stuck at block 59 I think, so no one is really mining it and it is not on exchanges yet.
126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN: [OPAL] | POS | Anon Encryption Suite | HTML5 WALLET + STORE IN DEVELOPMENT on: October 24, 2014, 07:22:49 AM

Unless you are planning on selling all your opal today, it should not matter to you what the price is at....

I think it will be much different in the next few months.  This 7btc person obviously just wanted to make a few points and get out.  He probably earned a lot of stake by investing so much so it worked out for him.

I'm not in opal for the short term. I believe in these devs so far so good
127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN: [OPAL] | POS | Anon Encryption Suite | HTML5 WALLET + STORE IN DEVELOPMENT on: October 20, 2014, 04:54:38 PM
I like the newer font better than the "space age" type font.

If this is a coin, to be used for business, it should have a business feel to it.

The really fat green arrow annoys me for some reason. Its a little comic like, and I don't know if purple and green on the same screen go together.
128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NoirShares UPDATE REQUIRED Advanced Features✔, Unique PoW✔ on: October 20, 2014, 04:46:23 PM

Please do not release a wallet and a chain without a block explorer.

There is no way to tell what is the proper block that we're on. Also, if the explorer gets stuck, and we're stuck, then we know we're on the right stuck chain.
129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN: [OPAL] | POS | Anon Encryption Suite | HTML5 WALLET + STORE IN DEVELOPMENT on: October 17, 2014, 09:09:38 PM
I would like to extend an offer, I would like to buy 1,000,000 Opal, but there is just not enough for sell. So, if you'd like to sell me your Opal with out trashing the market.

I'd love to be able to do something like this. Smiley
130  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NoirShares UPDATE REQUIRED Advanced Features✔, Unique PoW✔ on: October 17, 2014, 09:07:32 PM
I don't have much time, I'll put a node up when I get back on Monday.

I tried to compile it today and soon as I run it I get:

NoirSharesd: main.cpp:3252: bool InitBlockIndex(): Assertion `block.hashMerkleRoot == merklerootGenesisBlock' failed

(This happens if you don't start NoirSharesd in the same folder are the shares.txt and shares2.txt)

So this wallet does work:
https://github.com/NoirX/NoirShares

Specifically:
https://github.com/NoirX/NoirShares/archive/master.zip

In the meantime, if you have a node address please advertise your IP address in here so we can get better connections.

I also want to say that if anyone ever things about getting GF investors who get a vote, it should be a good idea that not only do you send btc, but also have to pass a sanity check first.

Looking at previous hosts of namely one individual on here (no not you frigga), there is a very colorful past with abusive language and intolerance towards other coins, etc. That person never should have been allowed to be a GFunder from the very beginning.

This whole Noirshares experience has taught a lot of people certain things.

With that being said, it looks like the new wallet Barwizi released works and you can mine coins again?  Difficulty is ultra low I bet.
131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN: [OPAL] | POS | Anon Encryption Suite | HTML5 WALLET + STORE IN DEVELOPMENT on: October 16, 2014, 06:32:00 AM

A question about the encrypted messaging.

Do all nodes store any message they receive forever in the chain?

Or do they simply relay it to other connected nodes and then discard it if the message isn't for them?

The reason I ask, is that scalability issues with huge blockchain size could become a problem. The last I heard bitmessage is having a terrible time dealing with the load.

I read a person's post who said they sent a 1.2K message on Bitmessage, and after 2 days, they were connected to 100 nodes, and processed over 23 gigs of traffic, and their message was yet to be delivered to the destination.
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NoirShares UPDATE REQUIRED Advanced Features✔, Unique PoW✔ on: October 16, 2014, 06:22:39 AM
Simply put, here is my proposal, Lotto draws should not be on a block basis but actually a checkpoint block basis. This means maybe one checkpoint per 12 hours / 360 blocks.

I agree with you. The LTS implementation had blocks occurring once every 40 seconds or something. By the end of the year, the block chain files would have been massive in size.  It couldn't scale that way.

On the other hand every 12 hours is a bit slow before a lottery draw too though. How about 1/2 that?  Someone buys a lottery ticket at the beginning of their work shift.  By the time they leave to go home, they'd find out their lottery win if they worked an 8 hour shift.
133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NoirShares UPDATE REQUIRED Advanced Features✔, Unique PoW✔ on: October 16, 2014, 06:17:46 AM

Thanks for that link.  Can you give us a couple sentence blurb about why you referenced it.

For instance, I'm assuming your not involved with the CIYAM AT project?

How does that link fit into the new Noirshares-NOPOS project? Are you using a similar design somehow?
134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN: [OPAL] | POS | Anon Encryption Suite | HTML5 WALLET + STORE IN DEVELOPMENT on: October 15, 2014, 10:25:25 PM
to be honest its crazy as hell seeing what people here invest in, ico coins with no features and guys who claim to have teams but actually run a 1 man scam

Their prices go into thousands of satoshi and they never deliver anything.

im truly glad to be a part of this, and its inevitable opal will experience the growth you deserve.

Devs of any coin should always get it to at least 0.001 BTC or higher on the market.

All of these scam devs that dump coins when it is at 0.00008000 or less truly show how inept they are..  I agree with you drm.

So far, opal is proven to be doing very well for itself. I'm still buying more at this point.
135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NoirShares UPDATE REQUIRED Advanced Features✔, Unique PoW✔ on: October 15, 2014, 10:19:05 PM

Thanks for trying Barwizi

Out of the door, we might have a significant issue.  This Noirshares-NOPOS appears to be based on Lottoshares, which project has just been abandoned by the developer for the following reasons:

(From another topic thread named "( Re: LottoShares - Dice 0% Edge - 80LTS Airdrop to all DOGE owners")

Update:

I've been trying to resolve two problems with LottoShares but have not managed to do so.

The first is a forking problem when the checkpointing server is running. The checkpointing server allows draws to take place but causes forks to take place when checkpoints aren't accepted by some clients.

The second is decentralizing the draw/random number generation. Using the block hash and a private key to generate unpredictable randomness is centralized and ultimately unsatisfactory. I think the second problem may only be resolvable in the context of a (bitshares style) delegate model.

Unfortunately I've been unable to resolve these problems in LTS despite a huge amount of effort. I have now decided to redirect my efforts to other projects.

Thanks to everybody who took part and I'm sorry it didn't turn out as well as we had all hoped.

136  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NoirShares UPDATE REQUIRED Advanced Features✔, Unique PoW✔ on: October 11, 2014, 10:39:02 AM
I never stopped working and share you pov, we are late, very.

Even now I'm coding on my tablet just to push things through. I probably will upload two versions of the code by end of day. One has PoS and the other does not. Whichever is most stable will become the active one.

There is a certain way you talk Barwizi in previous posts, that either makes you a sadist, or a legitimate person who believes in karma.

I'm going for the latter.

I continue to believe in your intentions, and if in the end I'm at fault for that, I'm willing to take that risk infront of everyone reading this forum.

There is certain words that you use, and phrases that lead me to believe your a genuine human being, with real intentions, and for that I'm willing to go the extra mile.

I know times are tough cryptocurrency wise, and sketchy, but thanks for coming through with the code when you upload it.

Thanks again
Toldy.
137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NoirShares UPDATE REQUIRED Advanced Features✔, Unique PoW✔ on: October 11, 2014, 06:36:52 AM
I'll do so in an airport if I can, meantime I am working on trying a CCoinsview implementation. As well as LevelDB. There are two versions, one with PoS and one pure PoW. I'll have to pick the more stable one.

Thanks.

As you can understand, tensions are high right now.  I don't know why you're travelling so much but that's your personal issue I guess.

What I can tell you is that the time is now to get this underway before NoirShares becomes a distant memory and no chance of re-launching a new chain. We're way overdue of recouping the investor following that has been here to this point.  There are hundreds of people with coins stuck in the snapshot. They are losing interest at an alarming rate day-by-day.

So please do it the moment you have a chance.  We're at the fork in the road where NRS either lives or becomes permanent dust.

Too many other altcoin solutions are grabbing attention and making waves on a daily basis. We have to realize that we no longer have time to spare.

We also need to address the GF fund investors after the NRS 2.0 chain is alive and well as you well know.

This is completely fixable, with enough effort and energy by people willing to help.
138  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN: [OPAL] | POS | Opacity: Anonymous Encryption Suite | ROADMAP PHASE 2 on: October 10, 2014, 02:56:24 PM
Yes, don't worry about that - we will always have an "open source" version of the wallet available, as mentioned in bassguitarman's post.

Even the closed source branches we create will still be open source, but access will be given only on request.

Huge smile on my face. That's great news!
139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NoirShares UPDATE REQUIRED Advanced Features✔, Unique PoW✔ on: October 10, 2014, 02:52:00 PM
Not much response, most have never modified the places I have so I'm trying an alternative that seems to cover that situation. Coding on a laptop is not fun.

Can you upload the current source to mega download or something (instead of git) in a zip, with a comment of where it is broken in a readme.txt and let us have a crack at it?

I'd like to run it on some test nodes and fill the debug.log with verbose commenting and see if I can spot where the problem lies and possibly write a routine to fix it.

The reason I'm asking you to do this in public is two fold:

a) It lays legitimacy to the situation and allows everyone in here the same opportunity

b) We might get more people trying to fix it

140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN: [OPAL] | POS | Opacity: Anonymous Encryption Suite | ROADMAP PHASE 2 on: October 10, 2014, 09:38:25 AM
This is definitely a concern for us, and it's a very tricky subject.  Some features will be closed source, but things like stealth that affect funds will always be open source.

I will not install any crypto wallet that is not open source.

I highly suggest you release two wallets then, a bare-bones "open source" wallet, and then a enhanced wallet, as a separate git branch that includes the extra features.

Some people just want to buy & sell coins with a wallet and aren't interested in using any of the features.  (That's me)

I heard that you might be changing the protocol + chain to accommodate some of these new features. If not, then perhaps I can just install an Onyx2 wallet and stay open source that way instead?
