41  Economy / Trading Discussion / Trading options on: December 30, 2020, 07:42:53 PM
I haven't seen much here on trading crypto options.

I was looking into Binance's options trading feature, but I find it curious that it's only available on the app. Also, I have my suspicions about it being very one-sided and even rigged by the house.

Recently I heard about Deribit, too. How are your experiences with them?
42  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Market Cipher on: November 19, 2020, 10:23:38 PM
It was a genuine question, I have nothing to do with the product. Just looking for indications as to whether it is a valuable tool or a bunch of technical indicators that anybody could find on Trading View.

As a relative beginner to crypto, I have the feeling (based on interactions in this forum and with people I've talked to in person) that the crypto space suffers from a lot of unproductive suspicion.

I understand that there is a lot of manipulation going on, and on several different fronts, but as more lay people get involved in crypto, the more naive inquiries (mine above) are going to appear in this forum.

Market Cipher

I've heard a bit about this lately.

Does anybody here use it? Or have you in the past? Is it worth it, or can one simply look at technical indicators on one's own?

44  Economy / Exchanges / PrimeXBT experiences? on: November 10, 2020, 01:32:16 AM
I'm considering whether or not to use PrimeXBT. Apparently this exchange is registered in Seychelles and St. Vincent (for the lack of regulations). I've heard a few unhappy anecdotes, but not much else as to whether this is a safe and trustworthy platform that I can trust my money with.

Anybody know anything about this one? Any experiences to share?
45  Other / Off-topic / How does the government track crypto for tax purposes? on: July 29, 2020, 11:21:16 PM
Obviously transactions on the blockchain are public and addresses can be tied to info provided by exchanges. But what about creating a second wallet or multiple wallets that are not connected to any exchange or traceable to an individual? Or can multiple wallets be connected (for example by Chainlink) in ways that I can't imagine because of my limited tech knowledge?
46  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Gov'ts and Institutions buying up Bitcoin on: July 23, 2019, 12:42:04 AM
What do we make of the coverage of institutions and governments quietly buying up large amounts if Bitcoin? Is there much reliable info/coverage on this? Seems like this might not be getting the attention it deserves. Or maybe I'm just being led on by suspicion/curiosity.

Opinions? Inside info haha
47  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Help address a little naive Scepticism on: July 13, 2019, 04:26:33 AM
Hi Community!

I just joined because after having followed crypto and Bitcoin specifically I wanted to dive deeper now that so many are saying that Bitcoin has bottomed and bigger institutions seem to be coming on board.

I am not a tech person and not a religious libertarian, but I am definitely sympathetic to, and partly share in, the passion of the latter.

What I am immediately curious to know is how some of you address the arguments made against Bitcoin. Of course we have all heard the old "Bitcoin is for criminals" jive, but I think there are a few serious arguments that the layman is curious about.

(So steel-man instead of straw-man, if you could!)

In my case, I was wondering about the following:

1) Is Bitcoin environmentally sustainable? (Argument: the amount of energy required for computing power in mining is inordinately high).

2) If it does not transition from being an asset speculated on to being used primarily as a currency, does that make it akin to a pyramid scheme or ponzi scheme with nobody in charge?

3) Are miners "painting the tape"?

4) What is the best criticism you have heard made against Bitcoin?

5) As it has not experienced a full business cycle before, what is most likely to happen to Bitcoin once the recession/depression that is around the corner finally hits?
