41  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: NovaBlock, The Most Profitable Mining Pool on: December 06, 2019, 02:47:43 AM
Nova please check your pm's  Grin

Hey Nova,

wanted to get a little info on how the mining groups work in regards to worker name, is there a wiki

i have 140 th currently, adding 490 th in the next week, but for the new miners i want them to be on the same account but in the different group , its a new location so i would like to have the mining rewards added up in that different mining group so i can keep things separated as i add and build to my setup.

also what i was talking about with the  "workers tab "  when you click on the workers tab the list of workers will not auto refresh, at the top  "total Hash rate"  that part will auto update,  but the section next to each workers name  "hash rate 15min" should auto refresh at the same rate as the top "total hash rate". i like to keep that list up at the locations and my workers can see each units output , and with the new gear S17 pro's i want to have that list up and not have to keep refreshing it to see each workers 15 min avg hash rate.

i would also like to ask for a "dark mode "  theme option on the home page , basically so the background is dark and the text is light. look at  https://dero.herominers.com/#  the sun/moon button is the dark / light mode

and lastly would you consider having a top #20 Miner accounts , basicly like a leader board ,  and i only say top #20 miners because i dont think i could make a top 10 just yet. here is an example: https://bitminter.com/livestats/big

Thanks

examples taken in span of a couple min browser sitting on nova for hours - if i refresh the page is the only way to refresh individual worker stats

read this , most if not all my experience is with computer cpu / gpu , but it seems to hold true for most of these high end chips.

I recently was told that the only difference in all these different "S" models is that when the Chip orders arrive, Bitmain tests them. The most efficient chips from the foundry are assembled into the "Pro" units and the less efficient chips are earmarked for the T's and E's and etc etc. I don't pretend to know about "chip quality" or manufacturing processes. How plausible does this sound to someone who knows this space?

this is exactly how it works,  some chips from the die's will have near perfect traces and have the ability to keep a constant temp at a certain frequency

the under performers will heat up under the same settings , so those chips need to be set to run at a lower freq to achieve adequate cooling so as not to

over heat and destroy the chips,  just like the s9's    the 13.5 units have an average 600 set on freq,  the s9i's have 650  so each board running 50hz faster

will yield that .5-1 th  +

this is some what common in chip manufacturing , in my years building computes you will see some of Intel's chips not do as good in the benchmark tests and

those same chips would always be hotter compared to the cream of the crop

SWEET , Love the work !! im glad i found this page ,

going to be deploying a bunch of gear and want to try to do the same

in braiins it has cron tabs and i have edited that through winscp

to curtail very low to no draw during peak hours when i get charged the most per kwh

and back to optimal/full settings during off peak at a lower kwh rate.

are there any examples of file edits ect for the s9/i  and s17pro's

Thanks

Update :

when does the s17pro firmware go live ? do you have any testing results ect,

is there the ability to buy the firmware ? instead of dev fee ? for s9/17
50  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: T17e review. on: November 28, 2019, 09:28:45 PM
im kinda glad i didn't get the s17e or +  it looks to be a beast but not super efficient,

cargober with tesla watt got me a great deal 1750 shipped s17 pro , only using 9.5 amps @ 240v  pushing 55+ th,

the turbo setting is lack luster, the boards were doing 18th each , on turbo they went to 19.5 th each, and the uint was drawing 10.2 amps @240 v

so the turbo setting is not worth it ,  but i cant wait till  slush pool adds the s17 sires to the Braiins Os Firmware, i like the real-time graphs and such

with out having to refresh the page to see the real time shares and est hash rate and temps

i didnt get a chance for coupons but i dont plan on ordering in the next few months

so now i have 7x s17pro @ 385 th   and    14  s9/s9i's doing  196 th  , starting to make a dent  Grin Grin
51  Bitcoin / Hardware / S17 PRO REVIEW - FROM CARGOBER on: November 27, 2019, 10:29:14 PM
Just got my s17 Pro units today  Grin Grin

all 7 arrived in good condition from fedex

only have the power in my garage for 2 units to run at a time

i might go get another breaker so i can run these for testing over the thanks giving break- weekend, since its raining in so cal it should be nice and cold .

well here is what you came to see ,  they are smaller then i thought and the loudest part is the small fans on the power supply units  .

i moved the jumper , as for a test i did the bitmain firmware re-install via the T9+ install then update to s9x verson of firmware ,

did just fine ,and ive flashed 12 other units but they were all regular s9 13.5    ,   this seems to be just the s9i miners i just bought from ebay

OK so when is the s17 going to be supported  Grin Grin

with free kwh i usually run them @ 700 mhz   factory settings are usually in the 630's to 650's ,

but same with the bitmain fw and the 2+ th settings

56  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Braiins OS: open-source mining firmware [S9, T1]. New release includes AsicBoost on: November 26, 2019, 06:02:16 PM
you should try doing the freq at 731  and the volts at 9

i over clock my s9i's  and get 15.5-16.2 avg th

and last night i set them to 65% freq scale and the fans stay within 10-20% speed and 11th
so they are not really noisy, and my garage is kinda warm in the morning

i have a little issue i cant figure out,

have 4 s9i miners , booted using sd card, clicked install nand option ,

reset jumper and re-boot and from there i cant get back into them ,
not sure if its not booting from nand or somthing , but when i put the
sd card back in and boot with jumper in sd card boot posision they
work just fine  , what could be causing this  ?

Thanks
FM

What kind of hashrates are possible with this firmware?
Also should I update to the latest dev release or stick to latest stable (?) build?

you can crank the freq and power up , stick with stable release

just boot it, flash nand option , reboot and edit services > cgminer = add pools and there you can adjust volts and freq, or use scale option and start at like 1.10  and go to 1.15 and 1.20 and so on

and set the desired c temp , its the best firmware as it loads faster and gives real time gui so you can see if the hw errors start stacking up then adjust cgminer settings

NOTE : if you have freq and power settings and then change the scaling option the scale will apply to the chain settings
