21  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Am I being impatient with MTGox? on: January 22, 2013, 09:00:25 AM
I know you guys are aware; I'm aware that I've gotten no estimate of when it will be fixed in over three weeks and been constantly fobbed off with things about your developer.

Please give me an estimate of when your developer will be able to restore my account?
22  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Am I being impatient with MTGox? on: January 21, 2013, 03:01:20 PM
Do you have a link to her profile, I can't find her just by 'Natalie'
23  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Am I being impatient with MTGox? on: January 21, 2013, 03:00:21 PM
Thanks, I'll try!

Do you have an account balance with your old account?
Why not just create another account?

I had ~10 BTC, which at the time didn't have much value, now I'd quite like it back.

Seems that way  Roll Eyes Undecided

Personally I don't think 3 weeks to restore my account is acceptable.

Am I being impatient with MTGox or not?

27  Bitcoin / Project Development / AWS mturk, but paid for with bitcoins. Looking for alpha users on: January 17, 2013, 08:24:03 PM
Hi guys,

I've been working on a layer in front of the mturk api which allows you to pay for hits using bitcoin. . Basic features are complete and charging works the same as AWS; fee is only charged if the work is submitted. Rejections can be supported, but are disabled by default as this would be an easy scam and the only repercussions would be on me.

Just as Amazon Mechanical Turk collects a 10% commission on top of the amount you (the "Requester") have paid someone to complete your Human Intelligence Tasks (“HITs”), so do I. AWS's minimum commission charge is $0.005 per HIT, and the same for me.

So, in total using mturk via me is 10% + $0.005 per hit more expensive than using it directly.

e.g. a $0.20 reward for 3 assignments would cost: 3 * $0.20 * 1.1 * 1.1 = $0.726 rather than $0.66 directly on AWS.

I'm looking for two to three alpha users to try it.

Please PM me if you're interested

Russ

A jar of Marmite; apparently it's very different tasting to Marmite in the UK?

How much for a normal sized jar shipped to the US?

"15 GB of bandwidth out aggregated across all AWS services*"

= win

Until a DDoS hits you and your bandwidth consumption goes up to 100 GB a day or more ...

Or 200 GB a day....!

It's a free start, which might help OP seeing has they didn't specify bandwidth requirements.

He is asking for a CDN usually part of the reasons (if not the main reason) to go for CDN is DDoS protection.

Wrong.

That's not the main use case, or even his stated reason, to use a CDN. It's to speed up content delivery by having multiple edge locations nearer your end users than you could afford to yourself. The Anycast DNS / HTTP that usually accompanies helps with localized DDoS attacks.

But anyway; meh.

It's pretty easy to deploy one, we can do it and it'd be dedicated only to you (ie, your own CDN, no other clients on it)

Drop in a PM and we can discuss the bandwidth & storage requirements Smiley

I will probably just go with my regular host, and just buy a huge VPS or buy a shared hosting and a VPS and setup my own
Thanks for the offer anyway

What model is the 60GB OCZ SSD?

*EDIT

Just noticed you're in UK, shipping will be costly.

It's this an OCZ Agility 3 - it and I are currently in the UK but I spend most of my time in California, so if you're US based the shipping will also be cheap.
