So any idea why my Firefox remember password function doesn't work anymore and it did before ?
I just can't get a remember password prompt whatever I do...

I don't know. It works for me on Firefox 3.6.

Is anyone else having this problem?

I'm using Lastpass and it had the same problem.  I looked at the link it was trying to connect to, the URL was very long.  I must have "remembered my location" while I was in a forum and not just at the home page.  That could be the same thing that happened in your FireFox Houdini.

Edited: had the wrong name
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Witch Bitcoin Symbol? EVERYONE VOTE AND USE!!! on: July 14, 2011, 06:19:58 PM
Have we decided if the symbol goes before the number or after?

(I'll just use B as the symbol) Do we write B7.12 or 7.12B? Or do we write B7,12 ?

Most currency's say $ amount.. or (Euro symbol) amount.. but it would be pronounced dollars 15 which no one says here...In the US as I know of. But Bitcoin..being the new amazing currency it is should be pronounced 7.12B and if you are out of the US please tell me why a comma is used instead of a decimal?   Huh

what ever happened to registering with the (I assume I will get this wrong) International Symbols Org?
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gold Not Money According to Fed -- It's an Asset on: July 14, 2011, 04:27:23 PM
So....what's wrong with saying gold isn't money?

That's not the question. The question is why Mr. Bernanke wants it not to be money. That's not really a question either, but I digress.
I heard he doesn't want candy to be money either!  Why does he hate candy?  What's his angle???

I love bashing the Fed as much as any long bitcoiner, but really, I have to agree with Bernanke on this one. Do you think gold is money? No. Do you think T Bills are money? No, they're assets. This is true. We HOLD gold, we don't use them as a medium of exchange. We have and will, but today, we generally do not.

I agree, I think it's realistic to say anything of value is an asset, however, the liquidity of that asset is the real issue.  I can send Gold, BTC, a small business, and cash.  However, which asset is most liquid (or to say it another way) which asset is easiest to spend?
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gold Not Money According to Fed -- It's an Asset on: July 14, 2011, 04:22:28 PM
Gold isn't money because it was not issued by Mr. Benanke
Bernanke has no right to issue money.
The only institute that has the constitutional right (and duty) to issue money, is congress.

And Congress has given that authority to The Fed
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would you like to see out of vendors? on: July 14, 2011, 04:10:39 PM
As the owner of a (small) venture that accepts bitcoins, I need to point out that after the MtGox hack it's a scary idea to have prices automatically change base on the exchange rate. Say for example the price were to crash back down to 0.01 again, the price on the site would be hugely inflated, and drive away potential buys who might not even know about the change of the exchange rate.

I would need to have a fail save built into the code "change <> __% within 1 hour = stop trading in BTC.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Biggest Pyramid Scheme Ever Devised! on: July 06, 2011, 08:11:04 PM
But you are saying that the US treasury doesn't take all the profits which was made mostly from the US treasury?

look, we can't teach you the complexities of economics on this thread alone.  you will have to do alot of reading and studying on your own time if you want to understand what money is.  it takes a LONG time and this thread is getting too long too.

i would start by reading the Creature From Jekyll Island by G. Edward Griffin and then move to Mises.org for an understanding of the gold standard.

But it's backed by the full faith and credit of the USA... That all you need to know.  What could possibly be wrong with that?
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nigeria may be forced to adopt bitcoin on: July 06, 2011, 08:06:39 PM
After getting my Nth Nigerian scam email, it occurred to me that nobody sane would be willing to do business with anyone in Nigeria using PayPal, eChecks or even Mastercard. Nigerians may be forced to use Bitcoin because it's the only form of payment anyone can trust!

I certainly know it's the only way I would sell anything to a Nigerian.

Wait, are you saying the Nigerian Prince has Bitcoin he wants me to redeem for him?
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Attention! This address is stealing BTC now! on: July 01, 2011, 01:39:30 AM
my client sent 0.46 btc to this address today.. by itself.
im on win7x64 with latest updates, scanned the whole pc, checked open ports and autoruns.. and nothing.

i need help cus this is serious, if my antivirus and 4 anti-troyan apps say my windows is clean and it clearly isnt, there is something wrong.

Try MS System Sweeper

http://connect.microsoft.com/systemsweeper

I have run it on a number of computers at the office and home.  I have seen reports of people finding Root Kits (RKs) that normal AV is not picking up.  You burn it to a CD and boot from the CD.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if... on: July 01, 2011, 01:22:58 AM
What if you went on a 3 hour boat tour, got lost at sea in a storm and ended up and an uncharted tropical deserted island with no communications. You had a comb, pocket knife, baling wire, duct tape, some WD-40 and you were taught by McGroover how to improvise in any situation. What would you do next so that you can mine and trade bitcoins?

Build a new boat.

you forgot to add the professor, Maryann and Ginger...
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ATTN] Clarification of Mt Gox Compromised Accounts and Major Bitcoin Sell-Off on: July 01, 2011, 01:01:10 AM
Has anybody checked whether jed's password was one that's been publicly leaked yet? I'm interested in how strong it was...

If it was not publicly leaked, that would be of interest.  I would like to know where the BTC went, and what about Keven?
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mt. Gox to open trading in competition with churches around the world... on: June 26, 2011, 07:39:50 PM
you do know that bitcoin is the mark of the beast, right?  looks like you're going to hell regardless.

Since the Mark will be required to buy and sell, it will likely be under the control of the anti-Christ. That would be difficult as this forum can't even act as one voice.  Unless the mining pools are controlled by the anti-Christ? I know some on this forum think so.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Down to zero it goes! on: June 26, 2011, 07:04:59 PM
i can't read the mind of the central bankers in a foreign country.
"So you think that money is the root of all evil?" said Francisco d'Aconia. "Have you ever asked what is the root of money?"

Actually the quote is, "The LOVE of money is the root of all kinds of evil."  Money is not evil, it is what some people will do to get money. That leads to all kinds of evil.

13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Successfull Callapse on: June 26, 2011, 06:52:12 PM
I don't see why your focal point is on the productivity of miners.

It doesn't matter how many miners are mining, as long as there are still miners. BTC are being generated at the same rate no matter what.

BTCs may generate at the same rate but, as it takes more and more to generate them it is not worth it to mine.  Miners cashing out is the problem.  The more miners decide, I'm done, the more pressure on BTC.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ! Mt. Gox PASSWORDS List Released - Your Password Could Be Here - Check ! on: June 26, 2011, 11:57:59 AM
From Reddit

Quote
If you haven't changed your password on other sites from the MtGox debacle, you should.

I found this through IRC a few minutes ago, chances are it's already been passed around a bit before a public paste.
Edit: It looks like that amounts to about 14.5% of all the passwords available in the accounts.csv file.

Check to see if you are on the list.  Keep different passwords for everything.   I did a search and did not see this posted.

There are actually people who have not changed their password yet??? I changed and my PW is not even on MTGox.  come on people, this is a no brainer, CHANGE IS GOOD!!
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gox me baby! Where are you? on: June 25, 2011, 03:26:30 AM
Fun Fact: MTGox derives from its original acronym usage - "Magic: The Gathering Online Exchange"

How many people just face palmed after they searched it and found out it was true?

Fun fact: the current owner isn't the original owner

New owner, new address, new country, new rules... just another day in bitville?
16  Other / Meta / Re: Kill the Politics forum on: June 24, 2011, 09:37:23 PM
I'd be happy to see the politics forum go, if it would stay gone. I even have it ignored. But I suspect that such discussions would crop up again all over the place, which is why the forum got created in the first place. Perhaps instead it could be made completely inaccessible to newbies (and search engines).

I vote for this idea.  maybe in the profile you turn on access to "Other or Controversial forums" and you can't turn it on until your Jr. level or something like that.

I thinking you need to be 8 years old to ride that.

20  Other / Off-topic / Re: Greek savers rush for gold on: June 24, 2011, 06:17:52 PM
The question is, will that happen in more places around the world including the US?
