161  Economy / Collectibles / Re: How to verify a Casascius coin is still funded? on: May 11, 2016, 04:50:51 PM
Very true Blazed, there's a chance that the websites are not displaying the most recent info. Always use more than one source for data.

Kinda related: An issue was brought up to me about a few casascius coins, however the coin was still showing up as unfunded. I checked the address against a few block explorer's and sure enough, no BTC. PM'ed casascius about it and it was a simple matter of funding the coins and Human error. It happens too Grin

165  Economy / Securities / Re: NastyFans: The Bitcoin Enthusiast Fan Club (est. 2012) on: May 06, 2016, 03:36:36 PM
Firefox is now flagging the Nastyfans site:

"nastyfans.org uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate expired on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 4:47 PM."

Yes, most things NastyFans are basically not working currently.  Luckily, this does not impact NastyMining operations.  Please remain patient as nonnakip finds the time to resolve the outstanding issues.

I believe the letsencrypt renewal or fix for this is just 2 command-line strings. I just went through this not too long ago. Having to recert every 2 or 3 months is a pain, but it does increase security.

The gamers arent here anymore. A steam group was formed a few years back, only got it up to 30 people. Maybe people like to keep their privacy especially regarding Bitcoin?  Grin

We used to have a digital awards vote for Howard Forums. Called it the Ho-fies.

Naypalm,

I have 1 BTC on a physical Casascius entacted. I look on your site and it shows active but when I go to blockchain.info it's invalid. Is it still a valid BTC?

Is your coin a newly minted coin? Please send me your coins address and I investigate further.

bought it in 2013. 133xyZkA

according to https://casascius.com/fulllist.txt from Mike, this coin has address 133xyZkAP69db3kMXqNTGQ4q2Km36mGbFS, which is still funded with 1 BTC

maybe noteworthy: https://casascius.wordpress.com/2013/07/18/firstbits-are-not-whats-printed-on-the-coin/

https://btc.blockr.io/address/info/133xyZkAP69db3kMXqNTGQ4q2Km36mGbFS

Thanks Molecular, I figured that was what was going on. Firstbits seemed to work well back then, but as more addresses were generated, then firtbits became unreliable.

This is another good example to other physical cryptocoin creators to why having a public list of addresses is useful. Especially if they only put part of the address on their coin.

Hey guys,

I have 10 S5 machines (11550GH/s) with Bitmain which is about to expire from cloud mining and I am thinking of donating those machines to NastyFans. I just want to see if there's an interest to accept them in? If the shipping costs to wherever your mining operations are can be covered/reimbursed, I'd be happy to arrange it once the machines have been decommissioned. Thanks.

Jet

Very cool!

Hey so I did what you requested and said I agreed to the things in this post, aka the terms, and the forum moderators deleted my post. I suppose I should not be surprised.

Anyway I am reposting to, again, state my agreement with the terms of this post.

As a side note I would like to see a website collection of all physical btcs, it could be a list of all types then when you click on a type it shows the known ones (if different enough). I also wonder if the silver Casascius coins are around to purchase these days.

Thanks

Very cool, I haven't seen this one yet.

Sorry about the posting issues, I've been out with the Flu this past week and haven't been actively online.

You may want to check out this website for info on various physical bitcoins. http://www.coinfirm.org/

I'll send you a PM soon.

Tried Adsense 10 years ago or so. I made $100 a yr for ads on one of my websites. The second year, I had it up to $95 then Google banned my account.
180  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Kialara Bitcoin Analyzer on: April 12, 2016, 02:40:16 PM
Great work! I can see that the Kialara list is still pretty small. Do you usually import the lists given to you by the coin creators or do all coin lists get updated by individual coin owners?

There is no list to date, however this allows owners to post their bar if they want it public, and scanned regularly. The owner of kialara does not want to release a public list and expressed that it is not needed because owners want their item private. I do not feel the same. A layer of transparency is needed with all physical bitcoins and their owners.
