I always exercise caution when I am buying crypto assets right after a dip because what you think is a dip is actually the crest. So caution

The cause is not far fetched. Ethereum is a very popular platform(at least for now) so it is home for a lot of transactions from the DeFi space. So naturally the price of gas should be bumped up
