1  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin will replace oil and Gold on: October 01, 2021, 12:47:06 PM
I'm actually looking for the ways on how btc will replace oil, and economics is the only thing I can think of, but how?

For gold, it is by means of investments where gold is stable but is nevertheless not better than btc.
2  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Christians should participate in politics on: October 01, 2021, 12:36:24 PM
In my own opinion i do not think you need to force christians to participate in politics if it's against their will  because they have their own beliefs and principles. Politics involves corruption and i know that they are real evil especially when they hold such power to control everything. They're liars.

That's why i understood why christians don't want to support such system.

As a Christian myself, I don't think that being in this religious group is a reason for not voting and such. Christians believes in mercy, salvation, and forgiveness as such we don't want to judge others for any reason that you might think of.

Christianity or any other religion will never be a reason for any individual to stop from participating in this government changing activities, it is their own personality themselves.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why people are buying when the price is going up and not when it is down on: September 13, 2020, 05:33:20 AM
I notice that when there the price is going up so many people are joining the train and they also buy because the price is going up and they are going to make a profit, why people are not buying when it is down when the price will eventually go up and they can make a lot of profit.  Huh

The transition of rise and fall is very unpredictable in the market, so that's what made it interesting and risky, so I can say for some of the people, the view of seeing a price going up, makes them feel like it will be an easy money and investment. But it is not, KNOWLEDGE is the key ,some of the people I know, barely understand the logic behind the market prices, inflation and deflation, in other words economics. So if we will plot the rise and fall of the market, you cant barely see 2 points that is not in zigzag, so as the people not know any of these things, they will believe what they want to believe, and the assurance they need for their investments.

But this is just always at the beginning of everything. Eventually, they will learn how to grasp every situation, follow the trends of events between the corporations, know when and where to invest, and lastly, to know how to control the flow of the money within the circulation.
4  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Oxford university vaccine trial paused after participant falls sick on: September 10, 2020, 06:55:39 AM

why does everyone have to freak out now?

There might be a very good reason why some freaks out now, and this is due to the influence of movies/films about apocalypse due to virus like resident evil. Most people can be easily traumatized by this movies, so the thought of this might happen will be quite alarming to them which  results to anxiety and panics. Another reason that I can think of is the reality that most people were only looking for the title of one article (may be part of the article) then will immediately spread news and rumors without investigating and researching for different angles of the report. Lastly, the current pandemic might be affecting most of the people's rational thinking as they are putting their hopes and trusts to the immediate release of a vaccine.

BBC News - Coronavirus: Oxford University vaccine trial paused after participant falls ill
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-54082192

Final clinical trials for a coronavirus vaccine, developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University, have been put on hold after a participant had a suspected adverse reaction in the UK.

Why are they postponing the trials if this is clearly a common for clinical trials?, especially that insignificant part of the sample size caught the sickness. Are they trying to hide something? or, this is a pause to see if the sickness is severe and might turn to something irreversible? Either way, Let's hope for the immediate release of a vaccine.  Wink
5  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: 1,500 restaurants in France start accepting bitcoin payments through Just Eat!!! on: September 10, 2020, 06:34:58 AM
According to this article the service cuts across 15,000 restaurants in France, not 1,500.
Overall, It's a good step forward for publicity and adoption as people would struggle less to find ways to spend bitcoins. They firm also plans to make inroads into other countries like the U.S, leading to more adoption.
But, this part of the article caught my eye;

...Payments using Bitcoin will be calculated based on the current price charged by Bitpay. However, if a Bitcoin payment is cancelled, the customer will be refunded in Euros, with payment being sent to a customer’s traditional bank account.

“When you make your initial payment, Bitcoin is already converted into Euros. The rate applicable at the time of your payment will therefore be the rate applied for reimbursement,” the website says.

If I use Bitcoin there is a likelihood that I wish to remain private, compelling users to divulge their bank details for a refund when an order is cancelled doesn't quite sit right with me. Understandably, they are using a payment processor, so all transactions made in bitcoins are immediately converted to fiat, they could however still hold some bitcoins in reserve precisely for this sort of situations.
Wow, cryptocurrency becomes more popular! This article can be a stepping stone for bitcoin to introduce in the whole world. It is not already a new idea that merchants will adopt the new mode of payment in order to convey some customers to buy. And as a customer, I think there are many customer right now specially those who are millennial will prefer to pay in bitcoin. We always look forward for cryptocurrency to become mainstream and popular in the world. And as pioneers, I believe we should be happy because we are already a foot step forward for investing in bitcoin.

As this was a good start for the bitcoin to be known in public, the safety guidelines of paying cryptocurrency might raise questions for the anonymity of the wallet, and the paying method itself, through bitpay. Many parts of bitcoin is still unknown to the many, and most of the users are partly just going with the flow of the masses as they see it as good investments. We can't just abandon the thought of thieves lurking around, waiting for a great chance to attack and claim your coins easily now that it is in public market. Commonly, payments through bitcoins are private and anonymous but in public, we cant think of it the same, as the government may interfere about the rules of payments.
6  Economy / Economics / Re: Our chance to reset on: September 08, 2020, 04:16:37 AM

Probably, every countries will pay attention in resolving future pandemic, government will focus in cleanliness and people become more aware in food and healthy lifestyle. Discipline is what covid-19 teaches to us. As of now, many of us are following the health safety rules imposed by WHO.

Many pandemics happened before such as black plague and yet people still doesn't know how to properly take care of the things that matters. Maybe for some who believes in the history may take precaution but still, only the people affected by today's pandemic will happen to be cautious about it after we came back to normal days. Next generation will probably make the same mistakes as ours did.

for me still COVID-19 is the worst thing that has happened in my life. Many people die every day, activities outside the home are limited,
it is difficult to earn money and life feels unsettled for fear of being infected by the corona virus.

I definitely agree, and you can add the opportunist government officials who noticibly does sketchy activities in this time of pandemic.
7  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Too much HODLing stealing opportunities? on: September 08, 2020, 03:38:20 AM
For noobs? You're calling noobs who use this term HODLing? Cap wearers on WO thread are almost using this term, I don't think they are noobs. In fact, they are good at predicting and showing technical analysis.

I think what he means is that, for people who doesn't know, or newbie, what the term HODling stands for. Its just that a misuse of words which can we say part of him. But for me, I understand what he means for that.

And I also agree that they are good at predicting, maybe just that they are thinking that it may rise again after the crash.
8  Other / Off-topic / Re: Your favorite soup on: September 08, 2020, 03:24:23 AM

I really love LOMI, it is a thick noodled soup with a very rich and thick broth, it normally has chicharon and chicken in it.

I also love BULALO, a soup where the broth is made out of beef shanks and bone marrow simmered in a very low heat normally overnight. for the taste, it is very light yet refreshing, although it is not recommended for people with high blood.
9  Other / Politics & Society / Re: what things make a good politician? on: September 07, 2020, 11:14:01 AM
"A successful politician does not have a conviction but he has emotions"
Ellen Glasgow

A good politician knows how to handle both conviction and emotion in any situation given. He/she must know how to balance this characteristics and follow what he thinks right with the supports and recommendations of his/her colleague.

Apart from these 2 characteristics, a good politician has the ability to accept the state of what he represents, and has the will to listen to the voices of the people.
10  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Latest allegations against Trump seems to be false in my opinion. on: September 07, 2020, 01:39:23 AM
Normally the Democrats produce a bunch of claims right before the election, and these are usually total fabrications. The idea is to get a bunch of negatives in the media that can't be refuted quickly enough.

Of course, in this case they've been doing it non stop for four years...

The fact that the first allegation provide proofs of trump being with someone who resembles his predecessor is something not to be ignored, and in fact needed to be saved. Allegations may only be completely true after it is complete verified, but as of the moment, the evidences shows the legitimacy of the allegations.

For you to believe that it is happening 4 years before shows that you disregard all the negative facts about the president, and just being amazed from what you believe and want to see from him.
11  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-08-01] How the FBI tracked down the Twitter hackers on: September 06, 2020, 08:37:46 AM
The story continues. This time the new victim is India's prime minister hehehe. I was always skeptical of the official story that the sophisticated hack on Twitter was done by teenagers. I speculate that there is something the authorities are not telling the public.

Being one of the most powerful men in the world offers no immunity from the tricks and wits of scamsters. This was evidenced a few hours ago after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Twitter account was hacked by “John Wick,” a few weeks after a wider attack was orchestrated against the likes of Binance, Coinbase, Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Warren Buffett, and Kanye West. The hacker in the present case “appealed” for donations to the “PM National Relief Fund for COVID-19″ in Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Source https://eng.ambcrypto.com/donate-bitcoin-ethereum-generously-says-indian-pms-hacked-twitter-a-c/

The article also says that
Quote
Twitter also clarified that prima facie, there is no indication or evidence to suggest that the present case has any connection with the wider hack that shook the platform last month.

So maybe its either a situation where the hacker took chance of getting in the limelight the same time the wider attack happens.

And in this case, I do respect the intention of the hacker to donate generously to PM National Relief Fund for COVID 19.

Deleted posts won't be restored. Just move on and improve your next posts or comments. Try not post redundant and outdated replies.

I posted two times with a spot on reply that was most certainly on topic yet some fool feels the need to delete my posts.
It's rubbish.

Its either the moderator see your post unrelated and irrelevant, or your reply is broad yet vague that may relate but has too many flaws to be in that post.
13  Economy / Economics / Re: Famine is coming next ... on: September 06, 2020, 06:16:40 AM
Crazy world! First problems during the pandemic was when toilet paper was out and people started stock piling soap and toilet paper at home like crazy. It makes sense that food will be the main issue during the second and third wave of corona. Better to prepare ourselfs already and building up stockpiles. This will be so sad once people start selling a bag of apples for 100$. We should try to become self suficient again as a nation and not rely on imports all around the world.

The extended shortage of toilet paper was caused by a sudden shift in consumer demand. The country didn’t suddenly start using more, it’s just the place where demand originated changed. Production capacity is more than adequate, but it was split between industrial production and personal production (i.e., work and home). When offices and businesses suddenly didn’t need the industrial production anymore, producers had to shift production to meet the i teases home consumption. That takes time, the supply chains are large. But things have reached an equilibrium again.

As it goes for food production, we’re not really reliant on the rest of the world, so there’s no concern there. The US produces enough to feed itself and is a net exporter of foodstuffs.

I do agree with the 1st statement, people suddenly panicked to buy products that they thought they would need to survive the 1st part of the pandemic that results to overshopping of products they think that they need to stock as soon as the pandemic starts, needlessly thinking that most of the people in the country are in the same shoe. thus leading to shortage of products such as toilet papers, and soaps.

as for the 2nd part, I do not really agree for before, the US can produce enough to feed itself, but given that the world is in the state of pandemic, and US currently has 2.5 million active cases, the productivity of farms is affected by the virus, and the fear that the pandemic gives is really alarming. Though we can say that US will last for a period of time but will scarce if the pandemic continues.

This ignores how much food waste there is already in the United States. We’re nowhere close to starving. Not being able to get the type of meat you want is not the same as not having enough food to survive. People are inconvenienced by the disruptions to the food supply. Nobody is in danger of going hungry for lack of food. Out of necessity, there’s a lot of efficiency to be wrought out of the current system before a danger of hunger is even seen on the horizon.

There's a lot of people who don't believe in the said pandemic, that they quote "It is a way of the government to subjugate their freedom". This kind of people tend to do things in a lot in different ways other than what is needed to be done. therefore food waste will still exist even though we're in pandemic.

As for the scarcity of food supply, it MAY exist if the pandemic continues for a long period of time where the supplies will decline as the demand increases. People with below-average income may not be able to afford enough foods to feed their families thus results to hunger. This situation is if and only if the PANDEMIC CONTINUES FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME.

15  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russia plan to use untested vaccine against the coronavirus on: September 05, 2020, 04:06:41 AM
I'll edit the op in a bit because I have more information and they've only started testing it on 40k people in a stage three trial. I think it's been proven that his daugher and the supreme court judge haven't been given doses of the virus.

It takes at least 4 years to check for side effects from adjuvants. The very fact that they need adjuvants shows that they are not natural immunity boosters.

I hope the european vaccines come with some sort of meta analysis of trials being done. I think most places are working on the same type of vaccine (with similar proteins it's meant to be fighting against on the "spiky" surface part of the virus) so we will hopefully have enough information to at least confirm its safety.

If we can get the first 2 billion doses and then 7 billion, long term immunity might not be necessary to be tested - but I don't think many people are certain for the safety of the vaccine. I think opinion polls were around 40%.

Europe will have clinical trials for the vaccine and will study any confounding effects. I would feel safe about a vetted European vaccine or a vaccine made in the states because of higher standards. Even if 40k participants in Russia test out the vaccine, I'm not sure what the standard of their studies are and whether or not they have any oversight agencies -- U.S. has the FDA.

I think the United States won't get above a 50 percent bench mark in terms of vaccinations, but iirc, the CDC said herd immunity takes place any where from 40-70 percent.

CDC urges the state to have vaccines distribution facilities ready by nov. 1, as they launches the 3rd phase U.S trial

This gives hope that by nov.1, a vaccine will be available in United States but this gives the risk of unknown side-effects due to the rushed clinical trial that normally takes 4 years to be perfectly executed. Though given that we're in a pandemic, the rush for the vaccines is extremely needed.
