2  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Governments compromising privacy on: November 02, 2020, 10:57:22 PM
The United States Department of Justice Office of Public Affairs has disapproved end-to-end encryption. Goverments generally like to compromise privacy and yet saying they are protecting peoples privacy. COJ concluded that 'we are committed to working with industry to develop reasonable proposals that will allow technology companies and governments to protect the public and their privacy, defend cyber security and human rights and support technological innovation'.

In July 2019, the governments of the United Kingdom, United States, Australia, New Zealand and Canada issued a communique, concluding that: “tech companies should include mechanisms in the design of their encrypted products and services whereby governments, acting with appropriate legal authority, can gain access to data in a readable and usable format. Those companies should also embed the safety of their users in their system designs, enabling them to take action against illegal content.”[5]  On 8 October 2019, the Council of the EU adopted its conclusions on combating child sexual abuse, stating: “The Council urges the industry to ensure lawful access for law enforcement and other competent authorities to digital evidence, including when encrypted or hosted on IT servers located abroad, without prohibiting or weakening encryption and in full respect of privacy and fair trial guarantees consistent with applicable law

I do not know how governments will be compromising privacy and yet saying they are protecting privacy. They want end-to-end encryption on social media and other sites to be disabled in a way they can assess users data, and yet saying they are protecting privacy. I am confused, why such big lies?

Are you even surprised? Governments will do what they want, when they want and how they want. Only trick is to beat them to their own game. How you may ask? Blockchain is the only answer. Over the years we have built many great blockchains. The issue with them all is not really scalability. It's just that they did not think enough about regulations but focused more on technology. Nobody can stop technical advancements. We all know that, but governments are going to come down hard on not just traditional tech companies like you mentiond about what is happening around the world but also on blockchain. So the only trick here is to hold the governments accountable.

How do we do that?

Introduce absolute privacy for all data, but make sure everything is visible on the public blockchain so that there is a reasonable amount of trust between "We the people" and the governments. Data and information is shared only when there is a legal court order.  This brings in a very big amount of accountability and also helps citizens enjoy privacy which should be a universal right. I like how Concordium has understood this and is experimenting with this very idea. I think they will succeed. At least that is the hope. Play by the book, by the regulations and make it an equal playing ground for commons and the Governments.

Incase of any malpractice or something "unconstitutional" they will be exposed. There's no way they can ban something if its 100% legit and legal. They need to play by their own rules!  Wink
3  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Strategy Game Development on: October 01, 2020, 03:05:46 PM
After the NFT boom, I think blockchain gaming will be very big. Blockchain gaming will be a Billion dollar industry We can already see this trend in countries like South Korea, Japan, China and many Asian countries.

Though this might sound like a good business, I would recommend against it, we are in the midst of a pandemic. We cant see the virus, but the virus is very real. What if the clothes being sold are infected? We would not only put ourselves at risk but the lives of others too.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sending in fake ID for KYC on: October 01, 2020, 02:31:25 PM
This is exactly why Concordium has anonymity revokers and also ID layer at the protocol level. This way there is no way one can fake the Identity. Check out more about the Concordium ID layer and how a public blockchain can still provide privacy inspite of being opensource and public.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Never invest in any cryptocurrencies! on: October 01, 2020, 02:14:15 PM
I think its a lack of knowledge that hurts people more than bad projects. Even scam projects can go up in value before dumping. Hence, education is most important in crypto before you invest in anything. OP you nailed this on the spot.
7  Other / Politics & Society / Election season, can't biometrics and blockchain be used for fair elections? on: October 01, 2020, 01:48:20 PM
With the Presidential elections coming up in the United States of America, it's time for the popular and cliche accusations by both parties, Russia intervened, elections are rigged and what not.  I think eventually it's just the people at the receiving end and a ton of tax payers money going down the drain.

This makes me wonder why we aren't using blockchain technology powered with biometrics and blockchain for elections. Elections play a very important role in upholding the values of democracy. If the election process is not transparent, secure and tamper proof then the reliability and authenticity of whole process is at stake.

Biometrics can be combined with blockchain so that there is no multiple voting by the same person or impersonation. Use of blockchain can ensure tamper proof process. I came across interesting models of public blockchain that can be utilized for this. Take the example of Concordium. They claim to have "regulatory compliance" by design and privacy and verification of users' identity. What this essentially means is, even thought it's a public blockchain there is still an option for enabling privacy so that the concept of secret ballot is upheld. So one can verify that the votes were cast but at the same time, we cannot know to whom it was cast.

Academic Research being conducted shows that they have provable and fast finality as an advantage which can be suited for enterprise level scale so this might sure be useful for Elections. When we have such options, I wonder why we aren't using it yet.

I think public blockchains need to push further for greater awareness and provide solutions to real world problems. Then people will start seeing blockchain and crypto beyond the misinformation that it is being used for evil purposes.

Blockchain is a boon and only when we use it for useful purposes can we realize its full potential. We might have more public chains that can probably get involved in proving solutions for such real issues.

We should even have ways to incentivize people for casting a vote, this will encourage all citizens from coming out and participating in a vibrant democracy.
8  Other / Politics & Society / Preventing identity cloning in security on: September 26, 2020, 07:09:30 PM
We are constantly being watched an monitored. Hackers are getting more sophisticated, and our identities are getting stolen. We need to take action NOW. If we don't act now, the monsters we created will come after us.

Identity Theft is a major concern in the modern age. With easy access to advanced technologies, replication and impersonation of information is relatively easy.

I strongly believe that the use of Blockchain Technology is the only solution to this problem. Use of Blockchain Technology would help us know how many times information was accessed. Who accessed it and what access privileges they had. This will not only help streamline identity management but also help bring in more transparency and accountability. It will also help preserve privacy.

Businesses are now preferring Blockchain Technology mainly for this very reason. I came across researchers from Denmark who were speaking about Concordium, initially I dismissed them and was quite critical. Later after understanding I think it might not be a bad idea after all.  Concordium’s innovative identity layer provides a compliance-centric balance between anonymity and accountability. They are designed to integrate with current financial and business systems that require knowledge of a user’s identity. And they provide privacy for businesses as well as individuals. So that increases accuracy with who accessed our data and why. If there was an illegal access the person can be tracked and reported to law enforcement. Since every account is linked with a real world ID there is no space for bad actors.

Through the development of unique protocol-level identity primitives, Concordium helps application developers, individuals and businesses build products that comply with local regulations, while retaining the benefits of a privacy-focused, public and permissionless blockchain.

I think this might after all be a solution to fight cloning. When we know our information is private and we can verify it I think theres no need to worry. What do you think? With more scrutiny by governemnts we need to "lawfully protect ourself" without unnecessary harassment from government too.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coin do you trust, BNB or ETH? on: September 26, 2020, 06:59:09 PM
CZ is a buidler and hence BNB is great. But Ethereum has the Vitalik and is deceralized. Ihate centralization uptoa large extent and CZ is holding the industry by the gun to a large extent.Hence, the final call would be ETHereum.

10  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What actually makes a token pump? on: September 26, 2020, 06:52:50 PM
To be honest, it lies somewhere between good fundamentals , Technical Analysis , all the way upto pumpamentals. Sometimes, it needs to be a pure shitcoin ponzi.  Wink
