1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The future of Bitcoin is set with the launch of Bitcoin academy in Brooklyn? on: June 11, 2022, 01:39:45 PM

It's a very small step in the right direction. However I think that a more general financial training center, maybe with bitcoin playing a bigger part of the curriculum, would be more beneficial for the people who might be attending. It takes money to make money sort of thing, what good is bitcoin education if you do not have the foundational blocks of training in all kinds of other finances. There are many ways to lose money in the world which people need to be aware of and it might not always be taught well at school.
I kinda like the idea of a financial training center with Bitcoin trading being the most important part of the curriculum like you said.
It's obviously not logical to teach a course without showing or illustrating how it can be applied in the real world.
2  Economy / Economics / Re: Who will Replace Russian Gas Supplies to Europe? on: June 10, 2022, 09:47:40 AM

Did anyone watch the German protest against the petrol price hike?
That was a very powerful protest - people left their cars on the road and avenues and walked back home. This has blocked the road and avenues. What a wonderful protest they did.
That can be seen in a unified country where everyone has one voice and tries to come together and rule out an existing problem.
Though the same can't be said for some other countries where the population is much and about 70% aren't interested in the economical issues of the country.

African countries have been tipped as the best option because the continent has some of the world’s deepest gas reserves. But Africa might not replace Russia because of insecurity and lack of infrastructures.

Who will replace Russia?

https://www.aljazeera.com/economy/2022/3/1/analysis-can-african-gas-replace-russian-supplies-to-europe

And for the topic at hand, it is clear that the gas deal between the U.S. and EU is important, but won’t be able to make up the shortfall from Russia, former U.S. energy secretary Dan Brouillette said
In order words the US can't replace Russia in terms of gas exports as well.

3  Economy / Economics / Re: Unusual Situation as Russia’s Ruble bounces back as world best per fiat currency on: June 10, 2022, 09:13:50 AM

The answer is natural resources here! Russia is a part of OPEC plus countries and has one of the biggest oil and gas reserves. So now America's dream is coming true when they see EUR is dropping faster than expected. Because that's was always the gameplan of US. Russia has told ass their buyer to pay in  Rubles and as a result their buyers have started selling their euros against Rubles to pay Russia for their oil and gas bills. As a result, EUR is standing at all time low and Russia is getting the benefits of strongest Rubble ever. US is happy because EUR is weakening and UK is happy to prove that Brexit was a correct decision.
So in order words, the current market condition favours US as they still remain above the UK in terms of financial stability?
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The future of Bitcoin is set with the launch of Bitcoin academy in Brooklyn? on: June 10, 2022, 09:08:14 AM
The founder of financial tech company Block Inc., Jack Dorsey announced he is collaborating with the rapper Jay-Z by launching a Bitcoin Academy in Brooklyn. The Bitcoin Academy’s mission aims to empower and provide education to the region. The project’s website further details that residents of Marcy House, located in Brooklyn, New York will be eligible for free courses and other benefits like internet data plans.
I think this is the motivation we need to help create awareness in their various countries and educate our people on the benefits of cryptocurrencies.
Thoughts?

5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin to the rescue again on: June 09, 2022, 02:42:17 PM

The best way to open their eyes and absolve them of their ignorance is to do something that they will remember in a positive light. The Bitcoin donation is one of many ways to get them to adopt Bitcoin and then they will undoubtedly try to convince other fellow political parties

I think this is the point the OP was trying to make because apparently bitcoin is not legalized Nigeria as of the moment.
So with the "kind gesture" of that young investor towards the presidential candidate in the light of showing how positive bitcoins can help the economy, can bring about the mass adoption of bitcoins or rather cryptocurrencies as a whole in that country.

what is the fate of young investor Gaius Chibueze today?

By fate, do you mean what he stands to gain from all of this?
Well that would be
1. For his personal interests; The OP stated that the money was donated to aid the political campaign of the politician because he believed that the aforementioned politician had the potential tp move the economy of the country a bit faster.
2. To ensure adequate publicity of cryptocurrencies; Like I said earlier, He may have done it to ensure cryptocurrencies can be generally accepted in the country.
And there are still other things he gains such as publicity, influence, etc.

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Optimism got hit hard on: June 09, 2022, 01:40:56 PM
The problem was on the trust. 20 millions was quite small but if you are seeing the market and these days people are starting to distrust the platforms that have gotten bad news. OP was a new platform and this news already given very big impact to the trust from the community. Trust is everything in the crypto. Your project can't survive without the trust from the community

This point is quite true because for the community to buy and invest in your project you would have to prove how legit and transparent you are.
And for the Optimism project, their recent activities stands to create FUD in the community which is bad for business.

If we take into account that the capitalization of the OP coin is 3.5 billion dollars, then the stolen 20 million are not critical for the coin from a financial point of view. Therefore, the decrease in the value of the coin should not be considered as a consequence of hacking, since the price of the coin is constantly decreasing after the initial pump.
I don't even think we can call it hacking because from what I've read, it says here that the mistake was on the part of the OP team for sending the tokens to the wrong address in the first place.

According to what I found online, Russia ruble has not been in its best since the invasion. Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, ruble price increased during that time, since February 25th and got to its pick on March 11th which is its peak (on the the graph below). Ever since March 11th, ruble price has been on the decline and fall more than the price it was before the war.

10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: taking out a loan for a sports bet on: June 09, 2022, 10:41:04 AM

I will not take such risk of betting using a borrowed money, because that is too risky and if you bet carelessly you might lose that money in an instant so be careful.
Tbh, the chances of ones success in betting with borrowed money is really low
So the OP should know this and refrain from such no matter how good of an analyst you are.
11  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Discussion Thread on: June 09, 2022, 10:38:23 AM

Sometimes I wish the team will go on relegation but then I know it is the players who will suffer it more as those wicked souls who parade themselves as administrators will move on once the team goes down on relegation. This is wickedness.
Unfortunately that's life for you, especially when the abusers of these rights are in a higher position than you. There's absolutely nothing you can do but keep playing and hope for a change.

I did not get to see that match live though I read it was a great game. It was the same way relegation threatened Heartland FC of Owerri trashed Akwa United in Owerri in their last match.

It is rather unfortunate that Akwa united let my hands down in their last match against heartland FC with a 1-0 loss.  Grin
But that's football tbh where the predictions are usually unstable
12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Minor Protection From Gambling on: June 09, 2022, 10:21:39 AM

We know there are casinos that suspect some users are minors but they are just allowing them because they make money out of it.

But its hard enough to trust a casino and then they are adding a 3rd party to scan the IDs. This time its not just the casino that have your data but also this Incode. Why the Germans will allow this, its all up to them.

Exactly!
Most casinos are fully aware that majority of their users are minors still they allow them to join and freely access every feature of theirs no minding the implications of their actions.
They just have the one rule of making money at any cost.

Will this kind of technology can trully protect minors and prevent them to access gambling sites?
I doubt it can

In my opinion, the government should not rely exclusively on technology to protect minors from entering a gambling site via the Internet. Also, it is not enough for the government alone to implement such measures, as others must become engaged in educating children about this issue. This is why I believe that conducting large-scale debates aimed at protecting minors from joining gambling would be useful!!!

However the sad reality is that some governments especially in the African part simply do not care about all of these, and the minors on their own part may see this as an opportunity of making money.
So in that case, who educates who?

13  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will Russia Emerge As The Next Dominant Superpower on: June 09, 2022, 10:06:49 AM
Both the USSR and USA enjoyed the luxury of surviving World War II with their territories and economies largely intact. Profiting handsomely by loaning capital to other nations to rebuild. While the rest of the world toiled under debt and reconstruction efforts.

To avoid this, I think the united states would do well to keep its economy strong. As a hedge against russian encroachment. There isn't much alternative deterrent.

This point here rules out the fact that Russia can become the next dominant superpower in the world.
As we see that the USA is one country that tries as much to avoid wars and conflicts which they are well aware can lead to economic depreciation. While Russia on the other hand seems not to care what goes on and what doesn't in their economic status.

If global markets are devastated by a crisis, russia is (in my opinion) the number #1 prospect to emerge as the next dominant superpower.

This statement here can be backed by this as we see here that the opposing movement of the Russian rubble has caused alarm to the American Economists hence the post.
14  Economy / Economics / Unusual Situation as Russia’s Ruble bounces back as world best per fiat currency on: June 09, 2022, 09:49:20 AM
Quote
Two months after the Russian ruble fell below a U.S. penny, the transcontinental country’s fiat currency is the best performing currency worldwide. American economists are baffled by the “unusual situation” because a country facing stiff sanctions typically sees its fiat currency decline in value, but Russia’s ruble has done the exact opposite.
Source

Now my question is how often can we see a country's Fiat currency currency thrive despite the harsh economy in the country?
15  Other / Archival / Re: What do you expect from bitcoin in the second half of 2022? on: June 09, 2022, 12:05:10 AM
I don't really see much prospect for Bitcoin or any cryptocurrency for that matter for the second half of the year as the global economic situation is depreciating. Many countries that the major whales below to are currently facing some challenges. And with the red candlesticks portrayed on exchanges, I would say getting a new ATH in the second half is seemingly impossible. (I stand to be corrected though) lol.
16  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is your fill the bag Bitcoin price? on: June 08, 2022, 11:43:19 PM
So am putting this question to you what is your set price to buy more bitcoin during this dip?
For me, there no fixed price to buy Bitcoin during this dip.
However, with the price of BTC being 30k at the time of posting, and if I am following my binance chart well, then I would say buy at or below 28 or 25k. Though I doubt if it'll ever drop below that price again

hold the same opinion, bitcoin in a way is like any other product, if a very expensive house you have been wanting to buy was given a 50% discount what would you do? Would you wait until the discount raised to 60% or would you run to buy it right now? The truth is that you do not know if the discount will ever reach 60% as there could be someone which buys it before it reaches that point, so even if you could eventually buy the house for a cheaper price the opportunity right now is so good that you cannot let it pass.
I agree to disagree with you as well
Well you can buy the house at a 50% like you said and the price drops by 15% and remains that way over time what do you think your friends who were patient untill the very end would say?
And at the same time you can procrastinate and stall all you want waiting for the so called price dip you need and before you realize it, time is already gone and the price is always on a steady rise while you were wasting time waiting for a dip.
But the whole point of this is that, you should buy according to the plan that favours your investment strategy
Like for a long-term hold, buy at the current price and hold
And for a short-term holder or trader, wait for the dip (don't forget to do your analysis to know how long a dip you can buy from)
17  Economy / Speculation / Re: Reason why I put all my money in Bitcoin as a newbie on: June 08, 2022, 11:22:35 PM
I advise newbies to rely only on highly decentralized crypto Bitcoin. Until you learn enough to decide which risk to take and which not to.
This statement here is already a risk in the sense that, bitcoin BTC as you've most likely read is a cryptocurrency with very unstable potential. Where your funds can be reduced to the bare minimum although it usually bounces back to it's previous position or greater as we've always seen. But that's no guarantee for short-term investments.
And don't forget to always invest what you can afford to lose.  Smiley
18  Economy / Economics / Re: Taking loan during high inflation? on: June 07, 2022, 11:40:31 PM

But the question is what if you do not own enough money for investing? can you take a loan and invest?

I wouldn't take or even recommend taking to someone else because taking a loan to begin with already an emotional stress or tie as you would always have it at the back of your mind that you're owing wherever you may go.
Secondly, using such loans to invest in cryptocurrency is considered very unwise from my own end. because no matter how good of an analyst you are, cryptocurrency would always shock you by taking a more positive turn than expected or a negative altogether.
And at the end of the day you would still have to pay your Lender and with the high inflation as fore-mentioned, that would be a massive loss.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BNB price on: June 07, 2022, 10:27:38 PM
This is cryptocurrencies we are talking about mate
We all know how unstable they can be.
So reaching BNB reaching $1000 may look impossible but, if we were to refer back to BTC which was about $0.0008 for one and today it's more than $30k then I can say that the capabilities of the BNB coin are yet to be discovered.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is it the right time to invest in cryptocurrencies? on: June 07, 2022, 10:20:17 PM

The economic pains of Covid-19 experienced in 2020 are experienced in many countries. Many countries are going through hard times economically and will. In these periods, salvation will of course be profitable investment planning. When I look at the crypto market for this period, the general comments are in the direction of BNB investment advice.

Do you think it makes sense to invest in BNB or another cryptocurrency?

What else can you suggest in line with the analyzes made on the subject?
There are things you need to consider before taking a decision to invest and these might be
1. Taking into consideration the current market condition is
2. The economical effect or how positive or negative this change would affect your financial status
3. The type investment you would be getting into whether it would be long-term or short-term.
After considering the above opinions, Then you can choose which coin would suit your investment strategy. But I wouldn't recommend BNB for long-term.
