Op, how long did it take you to create such a good video like this?

Again, it's hard to say. I started drawing the graph around early 2021, and the idea slowly developed, and I wasn't working on it all the time. I think the drawing was about 1.5 months of work, and the rest of it was another 1.5, maybe 2 months?

I just changed the title and I'm going to change the thumbnail for something that will hopefully attract more clicks.

You have skipped many details from the past TBH, but those are minor thing that newcomers won't find interesting enough.

Yeah, the video is super heavy with details anyway, but I wonder which details did you mean?
I'm in this space since 2018 so I had to research about everything before my time

I didn't really understand why you think bitcoin is a boring topic for most people.
I am sure that this topic seems rather complicated to them. You need to know English perfectly, the basics of how exchanges work, and also be a bit of an IT specialist. I mean that the topic of cryptocurrencies is difficult for people, because it covers many narrow areas from different fields of knowledge. And not knowing any of these topics can scare off any person to the point that he will not start trying to learn something about cryptocurrencies.

From talking to many people, I find that it's mostly women who find the subject boring, unfortunately. (of course, it's really the fact that they lack curiosity and don't want to listen)
For the average person, it's scary like you said. people's entire lives are dictated by money, but they're not ready to face the truth and understand that the money they believe is real, is more of a scam. new technologies and technical know-how are scary.
Economics may seem boring, because people have zero grasp of them, and they think economics means just math.

I'm curious is that all of your drawing and your voice over?
I did the drawing, camera work, editing, script, guitar playing and audio effects. Hired a voice actor, bass player, drummer, audio mix and after effects guy.

is this drawn on actual paper and there was a trick of video camera and various angles?
This was all drawn on the wall in my old apartment living room, and then shot from up close. No animation involved besides some after effects that were done later.

How long you create this video?
I started the drawing probably at early 2021, I just wanted to see the full bitcoin graph on my wall, it gradually morphed into the idea of the video. I wasn't constantly working on it though. it's hard to say but there were probably about 3 months of full days of work in total.

you did not talk about how the price has fallen already which makes it cheap to buy again because the price of bitcoin is $26000 now and you uploaded that YouTube video not up to an hour ago.
There was a gap between finishing the drawing, shooting it, having to erase it (left the apartment), and then doing all the sound recording, editing, video effects etc. also there was not enough space on the wall past 2022, since I gave 2021-2022 more space then previous years. so yes it's just a bit outdated unfortunately but that's not the point, even if it was relevant to yesterday's price, it wouldn't be next year anyway.
the ending of the graph does get close to the 16K days, and in the ending of the video with the electric vision of the future it goes down before it flies up, I drove my animator crazy insisting to get that point right.

Aside from some misspelled words,
Which words?

Thanks to everyone for the fantastic reception and detailed comments!

Yes, there is much more to cover in order to fully grasp what Bitcoin is, it's almost impossible to do so in one video.

This whole project only started because I wanted to express my burning passion for the bitcoin revolution so I drew it as fire (and also wasn't satisfied with looking at small graphs on screens). Then I realized the potential for a cool video, developed a script and added the drawings around it accordingly. The blockchain-roller coaster was a late addition for example.

I did try to include many different element that are presented in a story format:
-banks always fuck us over
-btc isn't controlled by banks and govermnet
-it was a collaborative process that grew organically
-dollar is inflationary unlike btc
-halving cycle
-other coins are shitcoins
but mostly the biggest point I was trying to paint is that the short term volatility is mostly caused by people just being clueless and hyped/FUDed, and that in the big picture it gets bigger and stronger after every crash - while the dollar keeps getting debased.

I threw in all the 'big headlines' at the end (decentralized, democratic, incorruptible..) to let newcomers know - there are so many reasons why bitcoin is great and strong, but with some mystery about it, having the narrator tease explaining it in the next video (also to force myself to keep creating content). Again, it's impossible to go into everything in one video.

So yes, it's about price (the video is basically a price chart!) but it's so much more then that. Yes, it's not enough to get someone to invest, but having watched the video, some new info will sink in, a seed will be planted, and then the person's mind could be more open next time they hear about bitcoin, some curiously may arise.

So as a promised sequel I intend to break down all those headlines. It will make for a more informative video, but hopefully the roller coaster video will lead some curious people to it. I will need to think of new creative ways to make it visually interesting and to keep people engaged.

One of the biggest issues that I find is that Bitcoin seems to boring of a topic for most people...technology, money, socio-economic issues...
So for the past year and a half I've been working on this piece of art that turned into a newbie-friendly, fun and colorful mini movie,
that takes you through the roller coaster ride of bitcoin's 13-year history Smiley

3 years ago, a good friend has showed me a 17 minute long interview about bitcoin.
I didn't know much about bitcoin, and the video explained what it was really about.
It's a social-economic revolution against the tyranny of the hierarchic powers that are in control.

My life changed completely after that.
Suddenly all I cared about was spreading the word and changing the world.

I must have watched it more than 50 times. Turns out that I wasn't the only one who's life has changed after watching it.
The interview has become a cult classic among the Israeli community.

Since, I haven't come across any other video that managed to explain everything that newcomers need to know about bitcoin.
Unfortunately, the video is in Hebrew so not many people can understand it, so I decided to translate it.

Not just that - I made a new version of the video with an English voice over, and added tons of nuggets.
it took months to complete and I'm very happy to finally release it as a Bar Mitzvah present to Bitcoin Wink

Looking back, it's incredible that this interview is from 2014. Seems like a prophecy.
It's a treat for maxis, while it's aimed for newbies as well.

I hope you enjoy it,

6  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Question about confirmations and reorg on: February 19, 2021, 12:26:40 PM

 • Insufficient fee
 • invalid transaction
 • poorly connected wallet
is there a list of such bad wallets to beware of? or a list of 100% good wallets?

Very, very low as long as you can access pretty much everything else on the internet[/li]
what do you mean?

If there's a re-org and the transaction goes back into the mem-pool, would it be confirmed automatically later?
Almost certainly.  That's WHY it went back in the mem-pool instead of being deleted. However, in MOST cases, it will already be confirmed in the re-org.
so I can conclude that if I pay a solid fee amount and wallet is not faulty, the odds of the transaction being confirmed are > 99.99%?
and the say there's a re-org, which is also rare (1/2000 blocks? less?), then still, it will almost certainly be confirmed eventually
which would make the total odds extremely low.

Three weeks, because I INTENTIONALLY paid an insufficient transaction fee. I was not in a hurry, and just kept re-broadcasting the transaction until transaction fee requirements dropped.
which wallets can make you do that?
7  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Question about confirmations and reorg on: February 19, 2021, 12:17:40 PM
non-standard transactions, fees are too low, miner's preference, etc. No one can really tell you the odds of it happening; generally miners do not actively exclude specific transactions and non-standard transactions should not happen if your wallet is functional. I vaguely recall there's one mining pool that mines non-segwit transactions exclusively.

For it to be never included in the block signifies that all of the miners collectively do not want to mine it and it's almost always because it is invalid or non-standard.**
what's a non-standard transaction?
could a fee be too low if I kept the default fee, using a good wallet? Or would it only happen if I lowered the fee myself?

Weeks.
What fee did you pay?

Possible. How much fees did you pay? The minimum fees for a good propagation is 1sat/vbyte and can increase depending on the mempool capacity (which I assume isn't the case). Poor propagation is not all that common anymore, what wallet are you using?
*Non-standard transactions can still be included in a block but they require explicit participation from a miner that is able to mine a block.
don't rememeber which transaction was it, it was either 1980sats for a 1262500sats transfer, or a 3936 fee for a 9900000 transaction..one or the other, using edge wallet.
is edge a recommended wallet, or is it just good for noobs?
8  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Question about confirmations and reorg on: February 15, 2021, 02:07:09 PM
Hi guys (and gals? Tongue)

So here's what I'm Wondering;
After a transaction is made, is there any chance it won't be confirmed at all? If so, what would cause it not to be and what are the odds of that?
If there's a re-org and the transaction goes back into the mem-pool, would it be confirmed automatically later?

Also, what was the longest period of time you had to wait for a confirmation?
I once made a transaction that took almost a day for it to be confirmed, and if I remember right it also took a long time until it even appeared in the recipient's wallet. could it have been the result of a bad wallet? It was about a year ago so I don't think the network was very busy.

Thanks!
9  Economy / Exchanges / what does total(btc) mean in kucoin? on: January 07, 2021, 12:28:09 AM
Hi. I just started using KuCoin, in the order book there's 'Amounts(BTC)' and next to it 'Total(BTC)', not sure what does that say exactly.

Thanks,

[...] I can't only select "Check now", [...] I connect my ledger, enter the pin, it's unlocked, but nothing is happening on the ledger live, and I can't continue.

There seems to be some of kind of connectivity problem between your Ledger and PC. I would try doing something as simple as rebooting the computer. Some other app in the background could be interrupting the connection.

Oh right, the USB got disconnected. That's it I'm good, thanks so much for the help!

btw
what's the difference between segwit and native segwit?
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Restore Ledger Nano X with passphrase (seed) on: November 14, 2020, 02:44:44 PM
So I reinstalled Ledger Live. I open it and go to "restore device from recovery phrase", select the nano X device, and the instructions are as follows:

Since you forgot only your Ledger Live password, choose "Skip device setup" instead of "Restore device from Recovery phrase". There is no need to create a new wallet or restore an existing one since your device hasn't been wiped.

OK so I'm asked if I know my PIN (yes), my seed (yes), and if my device is genuine - I can't only select "Check now",
then it asks me to connect and unlock the device, and shows an animation of a ledger being connected with usb and entering a PIN.
I connect my ledger, enter the pin, it's unlocked, but nothing is happening on the ledger live, and I can't continue.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / [SOLVED] Restore Ledger Nano X with passphrase (seed) on: November 14, 2020, 02:28:16 PM
Hello.
I'm using Ledger Nano X, and I forgot my Ledger Live App password so I can't access it. I do have my 24 words of course.

So I reinstalled Ledger Live. I open it and go to "restore device from recovery phrase", select the nano X device, and the instructions are as follows:
1.connect ledger nano X (ok fine)
2.press both buttons as instructed on your ledger nano x screen (guess they mean TURN DEVICE ON)
3.Press both buttons to select Restore from recovery phrase (WHERE?)

here is the problem - there is no such option on the device.
all I the option I have are:
"bitcoin" (that's for accessing the wallet which I lost the password to), "install app", and "control center", which has the following settings menu:
General (nothing useful there), and Security (Change PIN, passphrase, auto lock, reset pairings, reset all).

I'm guessing maybe I need one of the reset options?
I'm definitely not pressing anything that says "reset" before I'm sure what they do exactly.
The support on the ledger website is useless.

maybe I'm supposed to start with "set up as new device" instead of "restore device from recovery phrase"?

Thanks in advance, hope I was clear enough.
