Hmmm, I heard about that. Wasn't that project stuck because of financial stuff?

From the Trezor thread:
BitcoinCard (Mycelium) never took preorders, and never will. The delay reasons are "still looking for hardware advanced enough to fulfill our vision" rather than "had trouble with cases." What Mycelium is making is way more complex, but there is finally a finish line in sight... [...]

I also recall a post from Jan, saying something to that effect. Can't find it right now though.
With a little luck we may be able to show two very interesting hardware devices at the Vienna conference: http://cebexpo.net/
And let me add "Not making preorders doean't mean that we are not working on itGrin
62  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: May 14, 2014, 06:19:40 PM
You cannot change the local trader address associated with a trader account.
The encrypted trade history of your account can only be decrypted with the private key of the address the trader account is associated with.

In the wallet, one has the advanced options, beyond making all transactions on a single address.

As you continue developing mycelium's capabilities, do you foresee enabling more advanced functionality in local trader?

I aspire to building a reputation as a trader, and I wish to make many transactions in the coming years.  Making all the transactions at the same address brings up privacy concerns.

As you work to integrate HD in the wallet, in the same vein, please consider making improvements in the flexiblity of local trader; perhaps syncing local trader with the main wallet's HD, for example.

The thing that makes the Local Trader address special is that its private key is used for authentication purposes (using bitcoin message signing) and for encrypting the communication with the peer you trade with (using an Elleptic Curve Diffie Hellman variant + AES & HMAC).
The address you send from or receive with depends on the currently selected address just when you send / receive funds with the wallet. So the transactions used for trading only occur with the local trader access if this is where you store your coins. You can even put the local trader address in your archive.

Once we get to HD nothing will change from a Local Trader perspective, it just uses the wallet you have with its current settings. If it happens to be a HD wallet then it will use new addresses for receiving coins and change.

Hope this clarifies Smiley
63  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Kinda bummed about Mycelium's Trader app... on: May 14, 2014, 11:13:12 AM
I was loving this at first, till I realized that ALL my trades tie to one address.  When I receive money it goes to my local trader account.  Well, when I spent money, guess what, it went from the SAME account.

If I trade with person A, then that person will know my trade address.

If I trade with person B, "

If I trade with person C, who is really from a three letter agency, then person C will know EXACTLY how much I spent and received using Mycelium.  And that person could also trade with person A or B to find out what their address is also, effectively linking the trades with real people, and dates!  Why are dates important?  Well, having the date+amount makes it easy to calculate your TAX LIABILITY.

The blockchain will make it entirely transparent.

If you try to detach the Local trader account address, it will tell you that all your trade history will be deleted, but you can resurrect it by using the address again.

This is fucked up.  So, they have it set up where you can only be anonymous if you want ZERO trade history, and that means the trust/ranking resetting to zero after each trade.

I got a feeling this app wasn't exactly designed by a team of libertarians if you know what I mean Uncle Sam.
The address that the local trader account is tied to is only used for authentication your account using bitcoin message signing, and encrypting the chat between buyer and seller using an elliptic curve variant of Diffie Hellmann
The address you send from / receive to depends on your current address selection, just like when you normally send/receive with the wallet. If you happen to have your local trader address selected, then yes, this is the one being used, otherwise not.
Our next big feature is HD wallets, and using new addresses for every receive and change.
64  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: May 14, 2014, 11:05:51 AM
I don't think I see an answer to this question--

Is it possible to transfer your trader profile and reputation to another address?
You cannot change the local trader address associated with a trader account.
The encrypted trade history of your account can only be decrypted with the private key of the address the trader account is associated with.
65  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: May 13, 2014, 01:38:57 PM
Change is always returned to whichever address you have selected as your default at the time

That pretty much answers every question I had and resolves pretty much all of my issues as well.  If you just keep an empty address as the default it appears you are good to go.

This is a great wallet.  Thanks.
Not 100% correct.

Change always flows back the the address that contributed the most input. So if you have two unspent outputs on two different addresses and make a transaction that spends both outputs, then any change goes to the address that provided the most input.

So why is that?
If someone convinces you to import a private key that he also controls, then you will only send change back to it if it is the largest contributor. This way you never risk someone giving you a private key with 0.0001 and you send change back to it > 0.0001.

For cold storage spending (the trivial case where there is only one address in play) it means that it always goes back to the cold storage address.

Once we get to HD wallets we will have
1. Spending from HD wallet - change always flows to a new address
2. Spending from cold storage - change always flow back to your paper wallet
3. Spending from 'classic' addresses (the ones we have now)- change always flows back to the address that provided the most input.
(2 and 3 follow the same rules actually)

What is BipSS?

BipSS is a temporary name for the BIP for splitting a private key or BIP32 master seed into shares, aka Shamir's Secret Sharing.
The BIP is not yet finished or accepted. However we will demo it at the conference next week.
For now the implementation is in the repository along with Gf256 (Galois Field 2^8), which is the underlying technology, but it is not integrated with the wallet.
Have in mind that this code is bound to change.

Buy Ads.

Great! This is what I was waiting for! This is what I need when traveling, when I quickly need local currency in a foreign location I need to find local buyers.
The real deal is now available to members of the Mycelium Beta Testers group on Google+. With a little luck it will be generally available Monday.
68  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: May 08, 2014, 06:27:29 PM
Mycelium 1.2.5 is now out for testnet featuring Local Trader with Buy Ads.
If everything goes well we will have the real deal available to our beta testers tomorrow.

Also found this nice demo today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYzMjtoV1qM
(it is always better when you don't make your own demo videos)

Looks like the server's price API has a glitch - currently the EUR BitcoinAverage price is off by a factor of 1000.

I think it's not Mycelium Wallet : )

Yeah, seems to be a glitch on bitcoinaverage.com. Looks normal now.
70  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I no longer consider bitcoin as a decentralized currency... on: May 06, 2014, 08:08:44 AM
I'm not saying I have lost any faith but it is lost its touch since I was introduced in 09 if anything it has become monopolized.

What is killing the bitcoin are the multi-million dollar data-centers dedicated to mining, little to no acceptance as an alternative payment method, nearly impossible to keep up with difficulty increases, and limited peer to peer exchanges.

Tell me otherwise?
Local Trader was launched recently: http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/236k5d/mycelium_local_trader_is_now_available/
It is a person 2 person exchange built into Mycelium where you don't let a third party hold your coins or fiat.
... and is gaining traction: http://www.mycelium.com/lt/m/
71  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: May 06, 2014, 04:41:45 AM
Is it possible to get the traders location data?  I thought about a new layer on coinmap.org showing the mycelium crowd
Yes. I'll make a link with XML data available.

Raw xml map data: http://mycelium.com/lt/m/data/ads.xml
You are most welcome to add it to coinmap.org.
72  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to work with different wallets? on: May 05, 2014, 10:14:07 PM
If they have an android device they can spend from cold storage paper wallets using Mycelium
73  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: May 05, 2014, 10:46:46 AM
What does the Mycelium dev team think of the new "bit" unit? I'm a proponent of this change and would love the option to show µBTC as bits. If we want this change to take off, it needs to be supported in all popular wallets.

I read jgarzik's points here: http://blog.bitpay.com/2014/05/02/bitpay-bitcoin-and-where-to-put-that-decimal-point.html
... and I tend to agree

Andreas and I are discussing it and the bottom line right now: I am more or less for it, and he is more or less against it  Grin
However it seems to me that none of us have a very hard opinion on it.

The thing is that it is very hard to get a good picture about where the trend is heading. There is a very active bitcoin group in Vienna, we will start a live discussion there tomorrow evening, let's see what they come up with.
74  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: May 05, 2014, 06:15:31 AM
Version 1.2.3 has been in the beta channel since friday, and is it generally available now.

New wallet features:
 - In Cold Storage the user can monitor the address and balance before spending. Also, you can now scan a bitcoin address instead of a private key to monitor (but not spend from) it.
 - Added Slovenian translation and updated other translations.
 - Added donation button in about section. <-- try it out  Grin

New Local Trader features:
 - Map integration when browsing Local Trader ads. Zoom out to see nearby trades.
 - As a buyer you can refresh the price of a trade according to the market rate until it has been accepted.

No need to reviwe a 3 year old thread. Look up BIP 38.
77  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Bitcoin 2014 in Amsterdam on: April 28, 2014, 09:09:23 AM
According to the schedule there is an "International Affiliate Summit (By Invitation Only)" event Thursday from 9 AM - 6 PM. The actual conference starts at 6 PM.
Does anyone know what the requirements / purpose this event is for?

Is the limit set by the seller or MyCelium and how do you sell bitcoins?
The limits are set by the seller. Buying and selling is described here: http://www.mycelium.com/lt/help.html
