3  Economy / Collectibles / Re: MJB Monetary Metals coins to skyrocket in value? Help needed on: May 01, 2024, 04:20:28 AM
MJB Monetary Metals were coins minted at the "Mulligan Mint", which only operated for a very short time but were known for super high-quality rounds because they were minted using old Denver Mint equipment that they had aquired in auctions. They only operated for a very short period before shutting down due to a large "missing" shipment of silver, so coins minted by Mulligan Mint will very likely fetch a higher numismatic value simply because of their extreme rarity, in the future. They are highly counterfeighted, particularly the copper "circuit board" bitcoin logo coins which made it onto so many magazine covers, but they also include the "very first" bitcoin rounds to ever hold the bitcoin logo, even before Casascius coins, as noted in the encyclopedia of physical bitcoins. So those onese are super highly prized and they sell for upwards of $300 for a single GRAM of silver.

Do you have a picture you can share of the valuable coins.

Thankyou.

I just assume the government knows who I am and what I'm doing all the time, and just try not to do things that they might care so much about. Usually what they do care about involves massive amounts of untaxed money, so I'm pretty safe in that regard.

I have no qualms about paying my taxes, either. But then again I live in a very good country. Can't say the same of people living under the boot of a dictator like in NK Lips sealed.

What if the people in NK are the free ones and you inside a western democracy are the one enslaved?

Watch this film produced in NK to gain a much wider perspective on this issue: https://www.bitchute.com/video/xVdNPKAoxbp8/

Satoshi is not anonymous as other commenters profess to believe.

Satoshi is Craig Wright, didn't you peasents know?

Satoshi has returned, flipped his previous years of maticulious privacy and security measures, and has decided to make a loud bozo out of himself in a courtroom.

Craig is the real satoshi, obviously.

case closed.

I heard the news about Samourai devs being seized by the feds and nearly vomited in my mouth.

DO YOU PEOPLE NOT SEE WHERE THIS IS ALL GOING. WE ARE GOING TO BE LIVING IN AN OPEN AIR PRISON.

The case against Samourai will no doubt take YEARS to resolve, and the case will be RAILROADED into oblivion if they plead not guilty.

Either way, these talented men will not see the light of day for DECADES over this.

They will never be able to write a line of code again. Their lives destroyed by the out of control, unaccountable criminal government.

Bitcoin-fog mixer and now Samourai. To the Feds reading this, WHO IS NEXT ON YOUR HIT LIST???

Government locking these innocent men up is a DISGRACE and an attack on every single bitcoiner.

I’ve purchased several from Mida - many of the earlier S1 error ones that sold for approx $450 US each - haven’t been bidding recently as the ones now are selling for $1600-$1800 (although they are higher grades - mine were more MS64-65).

I recently purchase a 5BTC from him outside eBay and paid directly with BTC - no issues at all so I think he is trustworthy. Seems his supply is getting low so may only have a few more coins for sale - they were really great specimens.

I never personally understood as to why redeemed cas go for so much. Redeemed brass cas go for more than silver 2013 bf lealana which is nonsense. Silver > brass 24/7/365, but I guess some collectors don't see it this way.

Because no one wants coins that are stamped "BUYER FUNDED" Tongue

Not entirely correct, people still purchase "BUYER FUNDED" coins in large numbers. As of right now for LEALANA BF is about 70% of the market volume (excluding load value). People still want them although the purists may consider them to be less desirable.

Worth 0.001BTC by my appraisal.

Coming from a guy who thinks his pictures add .002 to the items value lol

Eclipse takes the best pictures in the physical Bitcoin space. Hands down.

The prices are set by the seller. Buyers are free to walk away.
my point is why say something is not worth what it actually sold for that amount? yet at the same time, increase the sale price of what you sell simply because you take a "better" picture?

With my primitive understanding of this collectable notepad (less than an hour of research), I made the split second conclusion that someone wrote "BTCitcoin" on a notepad and held it up behind bozo treasury secretary Yellen at a hearing. Is this an important moment in bitcoin history, absolutely. Does this warrant a price at auction of 16BTC, I would argue no. There could be much more to the story that I am missing but I fiind the valuation to be too high to stomach for a crude drawing on a notepad.

Buyer may be hoping to sell this later for more bitcoin? Who would pay even more in bitcoin terms for this then this sale price to make a "profit". Maybe the buyer is purchasing this to preserve it or add it to a personal collection. I don't know.

I would prefer vintage Cas and BTCC over Lealana all day, for multiple reasons. To name a few:
- Lack of customer service by Smoothie relating to buyer funded public keys, when COA or paper key is misplaced
- Flooding S&B with "rare," unsold newer release items, or colorful firstbits for a money grab
- Smoothie not responding to messages, even relating to newer release items
- ETC
- ETC

I believe Mida on Ebay sells those redeemed items on behalf of someone else. Whoever the original owner was had a huge collection, but I do not believe it was Mida. My guess is he takes a cut on sale price and deals with potential tax burdens depending on Ebay's stance in 2024.

This is an excellent list of reasons to avoid LEALANA coins like the plague.

The free market is attempting to sort out what is legit and what is smoke in mirrors.

The money will flow to the hardest form of collectable.

16BTC

WOW!

Indeed. I think as far as regrets go, in the future this will probably be the biggest of the buyer’s life. A million dollars on a pad of paper someone scribbled a note on. I honestly don’t care if it’s a signed civil war document. No piece of paper should carry such a value in my opinion. Still, congrats to all involved. That’s no small amount of money.

Worth 0.001BTC by my appraisal.

Could have just held onto the 16BTC and been fine for generations, instead you got a piece of paper with a scribble that got held up behind bozo circus clown yellen.

I fully agree regarding the 16BTC. That is generational wealth.

But people are free to do whatever they want with their money. Bitcoin is freedom money at the end of the day.

The dude that spent the 16BTC probably has 1600BTC

Drop in the bucket for some, but for most that is life changing money.

16BTC could set at least three generations up for total financial freedom. Depending upon the outcome of this whole experiment.

15  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [INTEREST/ACCEPTING OFFERS] Casascius Items: 1000 BTC, VOID, 25x3, 100 BTC bar on: April 25, 2024, 05:04:25 PM
Would anyone here pay 2.0BTC and up for an unfunded version of the gold 1000 cas, same as one MJ has listed?

That is high by a factor of 10.

You’re selling one for 0.2 BTC? Sold.

Exactly.

To very impressive sales on eBay this week,  im very exited about the .01 Lealana sale price

Casascius sale price :  https://www.ebay.com/itm/196292516496

Lealana Sale price:  https://www.ebay.com/itm/226043006256

I have the email address of Mida on ebay... If anyone wants to connect with him and purchase outside of ebay (taxes and fees).  Do so at your own risk, as I cannot speak to the trust of the seller (although I believe trustworthy), but I can say that the email address came directly from that seller.

Mida has been moving BULK over the past few months. Huge amounts of redeemed graded CAS.

Be careful ; There are certain unsavory characters here who would say that the 2.0 btc is a binding bid on your part and then take a screenshot as proof.  (Unless they want it more in which case you didn’t specify lot number. 😁)

My post soliciting if there are buyers at 2BTC is not a bid and I am not bidding in this auction. Please do not hold me at ransom because I am soliciting price discovery.

First data on the LEALANA grim reaper coming out. This coin first sold at stacks a bit over three weeks ago for $660.

Today, someone sniped it on eBay for $2250, pretty crazy turnaround for the seller here. The market should take notice!

We are seeing perfect PR70 grades being a smash hit among collectors as these grades garner the largest interest and the highest financial premiums. Some collectors are going for nothing short of 70 and paying top dollar!

-----

I am thinking about starting a running thread on eBay sales in this format with my commentary to I can compile a running price history that tracks the value of certain coins over time. Let me know if this would interest you.
