1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: antminer S1: connect via LAN, setup WWAN, but can't access via wifi on: April 26, 2014, 05:05:59 PM
I caved. I just drilled holes, climbed in the top crawl space and ran cat6 to the other room. My next problem is, it stops mining after 30 mins (beeping sound).

Chain 1   Fan 2220  Temp 39
Chain 2   Fan 0       Temp 42

I have a honeywell blowing air on it. I only have one mining pool set up.

Beeping means it doesn't have an active internet connection.
2  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Antminer S2 $3199.- / S1 u$s 286.37 - #1 Bitmain Distributor - 112bit.com on: April 26, 2014, 04:58:40 PM
I have recently (within the past month) bought 2 S1's...

Within a few weeks BOTH failed (1 due to a bad controller board, 1 had 2 bad "banks" of 8 asic chips (16 total).

It's been a week with the RMA department and they had me take pieces from one to make 1 working one, and finally got the go-ahead to ship the other one back (which arrives to them on Monday).

I likely wont see a replacement for at least another week.  Needless to say I am currently loosing my ass.  Bye Bye ROI.

I have expressed this concern about my ROI due to THEIR faulty product to Bitmain Customer Service and every time they ignore me.  I asked questions within the RMA emails and they responded to everything BUT my requests for either a coupon or a couple miners pointed at my pool while the RMA process is happening.  It's like they read it and just laugh.  I didn't ask for anything outrageous, I simply asked to be compensated for a failure in their product.

I thought they were a stand up company, but now I am having my doubts.  Maybe the prices ARE to good to be true, especially now that it has dropped even more.  I spent $950-$1,000 ish in product around the beginning of the month, and only have about 1.5 weeks of actual mining since I got my miners... As of right now I cannot recommend them.

Something must be going on internally as I used to hear good things about them (which is why I chose to do business with them). Unless things change FAST, they likely could get to the point where they can't honor ANY of their promises.

**Positive Note**

The only reason why I am still giving Bitmain a shred of hope of redeeming themselves is because of Juan @112bit.com.  1 of my units I ordered from him, 1 I ordered directly from Bitmain.  Juan IS what customer service should be.  He always gets back to me quickly, is understanding and you can tell he actually cares about his customers.  He also has been helping me with BOTH units even though he only sold me one of them.

Thank you Juan!

New price for AntMiner S1: 0.855btc each one, shipping cost included.

Anyone know how long an RMA request takes?  I sent Bitmain an email and was wondering what other people's experiences were. I have 2 unhappy Antminer S1.

Thanks!
6  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: April 16, 2014, 09:49:51 PM

Depends on how many Watts it's drawing, the voltage, and the efficiency of the power supply.

Well, I got 3rd last week with a prediction that was WAY off... Thanks China.

***************************************

This Week:

Bitcoin will rally HARD and peak to just above $470 before settling on $450 at the weeks end!  There looks to be no more news that China can dump on us!

I am hating and loving this daily rollercoaster of luck.  160% one day to a 20+ hour block.
9  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: April 14, 2014, 03:41:33 AM
The system/software field will never update.  I asked this question a few pages back.  You can verify the version by typing a command in the SSH shell.  cgminer -V, I think.

PERFECT!!! , This was my error. I can see the it.

cgminer 4.2.2a

Thank you very much.
Regards.
Antuam

I'm glad that someone got to you!
10  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: April 13, 2014, 04:02:14 PM
Tip:

If you haven't upgraded your CG miner to 4.2.2a I HIGHLY suggest you do.  I did 24 hours ago, and my HW error rate is 60% lower, and temps 2 deg C lower as well.

Don't know what changed, but I like it!

I followed the directions below TO THE LETTER and it worked like a charm!

I got 2nd in this weeks LTC giveaway!  I got my .3 LTC right after he messaged me.  I can say 100% he's not a scammer in his giveaways.  I, in no way (besides this thread and 1pm) know the op.

********************************

Time for my entry into this week's giveaway! Grin

I think Bitcoin will go up to end the week around $480 (we may see a temporary spike above that before profit taking).

Why?  People are starting to realize that China is only 1 country.  If Bitcoins aren't allowed there they are still allowed in most of the world (See Canada's Session on it)!
Also, due to Bitcoins being down to sub $400 for a touch, I believe a lot of people have bought in at that price and are now happy to sit on their BTC or spend it as the price goes up for "discounts (due to appreciation)" on items.  This keeps BTC in the market instead of having be converted back to local fiat currencies.

Opps, the news out of China is confirmed and expected and people are still selling fast but not panic anymore!

Ya, it looks like Chinese investors probably sold off some BTC (that down spike was HARD, but then people took advantage of the lower price (which is to be expected).  It will get to $480 and higher... just not this week Smiley

Hello!

I have created a free raffle here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=568410   The drawing is on April 30th!

Portnoy, could you add it to the list of free offers (for the month), I would really appreciate it so it doesn't get buried.  If not that's cool as well, you do a lot of work on this thread and I don't want to add too much more!

Thanks!

right on the main page, it says current shares. this is the most accurate you will get.

but my current share states this number 11253501 and it keeps on increasing every time i refresh. It cant be 11.25 Th/s cause i dont even have that much power.

11253501 is your shares, not your hashrate

No, you have to enable icarus for support to be compiled in. At runtime don't use any icarus options though.
I don't know what you mean? So you put it icarus enabled in the bat file and run it. then somehow disable it?
If yes, how?

As one of the awesome moderators pointed out if you are running windows you don't have to worry about enabling Icarus.  What he is talking about is the timing options and the baud options.
16  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer u2 Easy Setup Guide on: April 11, 2014, 02:37:10 AM
Please do not use icarus options at all with these as the only thing you're likely to do is make it worse. Those options are of zero utility with the antminer U*s.

I have found that setting the baud/etc can help a bit on some of the u2's but yes, generally the only extra command line that's worth it is setting your freq via --amu-freq.
17  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer u2 Easy Setup Guide on: April 11, 2014, 02:34:38 AM
These can NOT be used for scrypt mining, instead buy a dualminer USB if you are looking for something cheap which mines scrypt.

oh man, you just saved me, I was moments away from submitting the order. Going to look into the one you requested.

If you want to get into script mining I would suggest looking into a Gridseed.  I believe http://zoomhash.com/ has a sale on them right now for $150ish, then use coupon code zoom2 for 7.5% more off.

(I am not affiliated nor do I get any money from zoomhash, they just have good prices).
18  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer u2 Easy Setup Guide on: April 11, 2014, 02:32:35 AM
where do you place the anu freq?
Code:
cgminer.exe --Anu-Freq:250 -o stratum+tcp://sha-256.megamultipool.com:5000 -u mikerbiker6.1 -p x --icarus-options 115200:1:1
this is my config file, I am trying to make it run at 2gh/s but when i run it, it pops up and immediatelly disappears.

*Update, now it is working, I am using this now:
Code:
cgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://sha-256.megamultipool.com:5000 -u mikerbiker6.1 -p x --icarus-timing=short --anu-freq 250

Spot on, --anu-freq can go basically before or after the pool/username/pw info.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will anyone admit that bitcoin is looking like a sophisticated ponzi scheme? on: April 11, 2014, 02:30:32 AM
Bitcoins are a currency.  It only becomes a type of "scheme" if we keep linking it to Fiat currencies.

IF the time comes where WE decide the a BITCOIN is a BITCOIN and people that buy and sell goods for Bitcoins keep fixed prices (accounting for inflation) then the market volatility will go AWAY.

People are treating Bitcoins more like Stock instead of a currency.  Until people change the way they use Bitcoins, there will be volatility.
20  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 0.893 BTC for 180GH/s on: April 09, 2014, 05:20:28 AM
Anyone else NOT been able to access bitmain's website?  I check it every couple of days to see if anything is in stock again, but getting nothing today. Huh

Yep, down. They were up and selling early today. If you go to 112bit they have listed over 2800 in stock for $404 USD, I would pay with BTC but I use Coinbase not Bitpay.  Undecided Dang, I need one more.

I ordered earlier today, hope it doesn't get messed up...

Ditto. I payed in full but didn't recieve a confirmation email. BTC is gone from the address I sent to.

As long as it's on the blockchain to the addy he gave you it's likely all good Smiley
