1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and LETS on: March 15, 2010, 07:22:01 AM
Personally, I've heard about LETS before, but I can't quite recall it. Could you give some more information about LETS?
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Make your "we accept Bitcoin" logo on: March 01, 2010, 07:21:54 AM
Please could someone perhaps design a Bitcoin 'banner' 468 x 60.

On it.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New icon/logo on: March 01, 2010, 07:09:00 AM
When you use SVG or another vector-format, you don't have the problems you discribed when scaling the logo. Perhaps I'll give it a go in Illustrator.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Make your "we accept Bitcoin" logo on: February 23, 2010, 06:17:43 PM
A bitcoin image in the shape of a credit card. Inspired by the Me.com account payment page.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UI improvements on: February 22, 2010, 08:04:42 PM
When you merged the "your addresses" and "the other addresses", how can you see the difference between them? Perhaps it is better to build version 0.2.5 myself, but does anyone have a guide to build it on Mac OS X 10.6?

My Dutch translation is almost finished. I will send it to sirius-m this week.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: NOD32 detects new heur_pe in Bitcoin on: February 15, 2010, 07:20:32 PM
I thought so, but my boss wasn't so pleased to find out I had a "virus" on my computer. I will add the software to the "identify this as allowed software" list.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / NOD32 detects new heur_pe in Bitcoin on: February 15, 2010, 03:52:43 PM
Using hitman pro, the anti-virus tool detected a new heur_pe threat in Bitcoin. Is it possible that Bitcoin contains code of worms/trojans? Or is this a false positve.

Code:
bitcoin.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Bitcoin\

probably unknown NewHEUR_PE virus
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Make your "we accept Bitcoin" logo on: February 08, 2010, 08:24:43 PM
A simple "we accept Bitcoin" image.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Make your "we accept Bitcoin" logo on: February 08, 2010, 08:22:59 PM
This one is inspired on the PayPal, secure payments logo.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin client and website translation on: February 08, 2010, 07:28:28 PM
Thank you for the offer to help translate.  That is probably the best way you could help.

I'm willing to help you translate to Dutch. Just let us know, when it's possible!
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Repost: Request: Make this anonymous? on: February 07, 2010, 07:19:50 PM
You could use TOR if you don't want anyone to know you're even using Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is still very new and has not been independently analysed.  If you're serious about privacy, TOR is an advisable precaution.

Tor is a extra layer of privacy and anonimity, but it isn't the ultimate answer. Check out http://www.torproject.org/download.html.en#Warning, to understand what Tor does and doesn't do for you.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Make your "we accept Bitcoin" logo on: February 07, 2010, 07:14:19 PM
Everyone open your graphics editor and make a "we accept Bitcoin" logo. A good looking logo (preferably better than mine Tongue) would be really useful.

Is there a high-res bitcoin logo? Or a vector-image?
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Make your "we accept Bitcoin" logo on: February 07, 2010, 07:12:36 PM
I took a shot. Small, clean "btc accepted" sign. See attached file.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Suggestions to significantly increase bitcoin's users on: February 04, 2010, 12:11:52 PM
For several months, I've tried to reach the eCache website. Only once did it work! (and only through meshmx.com, the .onion did not succeed). eChache is a beautiful currency, but an unreliable website, makes it hard to trust/use.

I've seen a TorBank on the onion-layer of the Internet, but I don't know what currency it uses. Their site stated that TorBank should become the number one paymentservice in onionland. But it is in beta/alpha/whatever-status.

PeerBlock lets you control who your computer "talks to" on the Internet. By selecting appropriate lists of "known bad" computers, you can block communication with advertising or spyware oriented servers, computers monitoring your p2p activities, computers which have been "hacked", even entire countries! They can't get in to your computer, and your computer won't try to send them anything either.

This is a continuation project for PeerGuardian ! We probably don't want block certain lists, such as Educational etc., but this can help to reduce any hacker and scammer activity towards the Bitcoin networks valid nodes and help to protect our wallets Grin

I'm not sure why anyone would should be blocked in a bitcoin-community. Who desides who's bad and who's not. Bitcoin doesn't allow incoming transactions that will reduce your amount (a negative payment).

I also started thinking about how Bitcoin 'service' providers might go about verifying new business whilst remaining anonymous. We can use P2P VPN applications to communicate and, for example, verify that a new contact actually has 10,000 Bitcoins to buy/sell by viewing the Bitcoin App. on their desktop ! Grin

Nice to see, that the possibilities of Bitcoins are explored. I have a question, though. Would you like to see P2P VPN communications build-in?

More suggestions to follow...

Please, post them here.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Marketplace on: January 27, 2010, 04:17:00 PM
I think that a digital currency will most likely be used first for digital goods (e.g. software, mp3's, movie rental, etc.). When usage increase, people will begin to use it to buy/sell non-digital goods (e.g. books, computers, houses, etc.).

When one trades Bitcoins for dollars it actually stays digital, at this moment. New Liberty Standard trades with PayPal (digital dollars). The service BTC 2 PSC is another way to get digital currency (digital euro's).

I believe that it is too risky to trade anything non-digital with Bitcoins, because there's still a lack of trust in this new currency. When a currency is not backed by trust, it has no value.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Payment server on: January 27, 2010, 01:23:17 PM
Wallets already support multiple bitcoin addresses.

You should check out "Options/Change your address" in your bitcoin app Grin

riX, you are absolutely right! Embarrassed

Now all I need is a command line version of Bitcoin.

Command line is on the to-do list after 0.2.

Satoshi, when we may expect the new command line-abled version of Bitcoin? Or is it possible to compile Bitcoin 0.2 in a way it can be used by command lines?
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Payment server on: January 27, 2010, 11:56:17 AM
This means that a server can process one payment at a time. Unless a server is capable of having more than one bitcoin address.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Payment server on: January 27, 2010, 10:44:44 AM
Instead of an ip-address, an unique bitcoin address should be created, and is also way less vulnerable. This is all that is needed for the server to keep track of incoming bitcoins.

Unfortunately you can't attach a message when you send to a Bitcoin address. It's possible only when sending to an IP.

And:

I think it was some technical limitation. Satoshi could tell more about this?

Is it possible in Bitcoin 0.2 to attach messages when using a bitcoin address?
