Slush just posted this:

Dear miners, the recent mining days showed some bad luck. The difficulty has risen again a few days ago, too. I am posting this as we have been receiving questions regarding the 3 invalid blocks and the extremely bad luck. There is no issue with the mining infrastructure. The luck will recover soon. Keep mining. Your slushpool team

Where was this posted? Why don't they ever post here anymore?

Yes I would like to know where this was posted, or did someone just make it up.
After the last few days you'd think the owners of the pool would have some comments.

Your correct on many levels, probably face book or an early post in forum, slush don't normaly post here,

look above your post and you might see some things coming back into line,, else FLAME ON PETROL HEAD

That Moment in time you realise you haven't done a count on block value and realised the guy running the pool makes more than you do a month, wilst you think you king of the pin you have know idea about,  that 2% will drive you nuts if the intelligence and nuts is in you

Mining between slush, eligius, BTC Guild, and GHash.io

Why is it when I switch back to slush they have a block round that last over 24 hours, but when I switch away they find 11 blocks in 24 hours? Huh Huh Huh

Anybody else ever notice that?

I think I discovered a new law of nature called "Miner's Revenge" or "Murphy's Law for Bitcoin Mining"

So you are the Jinx, problem solved.  Smiley  Smiley

Just by talking abou tit , your changing the pools luck,, LMAO,,

No but seriously,

The 12 hour and invalid blocks are a test.
They tempt you go elsewhere, hoping you
will do better.

There is no pool, anywhere, that has all
good days. Math just does not work that
way.

well if that was true wwii would have ended differently.  don't confuse luck as in slot machines with math.  if math worked this way we would never have put a man on the moon in the 60's.

There are different kinds of math. Probability and Algebra live in different worlds.

Algebra puts men on the moon, Probability wins the lottery. Sometimes.

Probability is a form of calculable math, when working with probability algebra is often used to display a formula.

Probability wins blackjack, luck wins lottery.

Sounds like you know math better than me, I was a Philosophy major.
Does it change anything in regards to pool  hopping?

You could do a probability on pool luck based on all the previous rounds, but solving a block comes down to luck > hash power, not very accurate unlike with counting cards which has a set amount of variables each hand, (Corrected) Slush uses a payout alg that stops people leaving mid round and still getting paid, I reckon there would be people out there jumping onto pools at near end of round, to make that work it would be a full time job. There really is no predictable end to a round.

I don't understand how bitminter can win block 312400 and our find becomes orphaned.

Slush reported 312400 at

2014-07-25 09:02:11

Bitminter reported 312400 at

2014-07-25 09:02:58

That's 47 seconds later than us. I can understand if the time between two pools finding the same block is very short, but 47 seconds?

https://blockchain.info/block-height/312400

Block timestamps should not be considered the actual times they were made.  The timestamp for the block is part of your header data before you start hashing it, and is based off the pool server's clock.  It also doesn't have to be updated as you continue to hash.  Blockchain.info used to have 'Received time' vs 'Timestamp', but for the last few months that has been broken and they just use the timestamp for both.

I don't know about them but reading a previous post on the matter I would research any pool you are thinking about switching to as this could be effecting more than us. All I know is it sucks.

Come to BTCGuild. Orphan rate is less then 0.01%

We haven't had that many invalids this year, just had a few of late. It has nothing to do with the pools functionality.

I reopened my account to use as a backup, enabled 2FA by scanning the QR code.

But it seems no matter how many times I log out an back in I'm not being asked for a code.

*scratches head*

If I understand your post correctly,

2FA is for changing the payout address, if set up, not for logging in.
Lol, either way 2FA is better served against login IMHO.

what can someone do to your login account if they can't change the payout address?
use their miners on your account?  don't seem too bad to me.
It's a preference, but to put a spin on it.

It's like sure, you can break in to my house... its ok because everything's bolted down so you can't steal anything.

It's the idea of just having someone "inside".

But if they don't steal or break anything how would you know to care. hue hue hue

And "It's the idea of just having someone "inside"." Dats what she said

Gotta luv it now all the S3's are shipping and the hash rate has normalised,

Conspiracy theory 1, Antminer burn the new units in on slush's pool.

the extra peta doesnt make the rounds go any quicker but the lack of that peta helps with coin in my pocket

Hi everyone i got an avalon in today with the openwrt web i will like to know how do i add slush's pool in there i tried and nothing is working. i do stratum+tcp//stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333 my worker and pass and its not working what am doing wrong i only like slush's pool
I passed this on the BFG miner thread earlier, might help not sure. The comment at the bottom "Edit" might help you head in the right direction. Source: http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=626361.280 .. nwools post and he is trusted source

"You can grab 703N firmware for BFGMiner 4.4 here:

https://github.com/nwoolls/BFGMiner-OpenWrt-Tools/releases

This image is confirmed working with multiple GridSeed, ZeusMiner, RockMiner, DualMiner, Hex*Fury, AntMiner USB, LittleFury, Butterfly Labs and Block Erupters ASICs.

Edit: note that, from what I've been told, the latest 703N hardware is difficult (if not impossible) to update to OpenWrt so don't go buying a bunch without doing your homework first. I had some older ones kicking around."

A google for "avalon openwrt" shows http://en.qi-hardware.com/wiki/Avalon and it uses CGminer,

I don't have anything Avalon here, so cannot comment, but if it does use CGminer you best bet is the CGminer thread, unless someone here has better info.

What he said ^^^^^

Cool, more coin for me, thanks!   Cool

I guess that's why my earnings went up the last two - three days; last evening was really amazing Grin

Uhm...  before you get paid, the whole block needs to be CONFIRMED 120 times and that is with most pools!

It can take a few days for the 120 confirmations to go through for you to cash out your earnings.

If you want to get paid automatically, move to a pool that pays you without needing the 120 confirmations like BitMinter (donations needed for perk).

This is because the pool owner wants to make sure they don't pay out on orphaned blocks as this can cost the owner a lot.

Pool owners don't get paid on orphans, so they don't normally pay it; they're usually fast few second or couple minute blocks.

More of a kick in the crotch than anything but you also don't want an orphan of a 10 hour block; there goes your day's profitability.

Paying orphans shows confidence in their system; orphans should/must be rare anyways.

A few days ago, there was an orphaned block every 2 hours at GHash.io (resolved now); imagine if you were mining there that day or so?

They don't pay for orphans either, as far as I know, only BTC Guild and BitMinter let you cash out your earnings as they appear on your stats page.

Relax, you'll get your pay, pool owners wouldn't be in business still if they were ripping people off Smiley

100 confirms is required. ,, am just being retentive here.
