How much electricity do you think their computers must be using - more than a steel mill or something?  Grin

Don't the GPS satellites transmit an accurate time signal that could be used for this purpose?

824  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Help the bitcoin network by being a node. on: May 10, 2014, 09:16:22 AM
Is there any way nodes could be incorporated or 'housed' into future models of broadband routers? I leave mine on all the time, so it seems like it could be the natural way forward.

I see moderation has changed on this forum, LOL people don't speculate in the speculation category

Do you know that for a fact?  Grin
826  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Yeah, it's about the Bitcoin symbol. on: May 03, 2014, 08:36:49 AM
Our English pound symbol (£) is the letter 'L', and before decimalisation we had Pounds, Shillings and Pence, which were denoted as L.s.d or (£sd).

So, Lound, Shilling, Dence - nice and easy eh?

I feel the bitcoin symbol does look a little like someone has just added a pair of eyelashes to a bold uppercase B.

I have yet to see any man or woman of a different race to me.
Humans have a range of colours, traits and attitudes etc, but they're still the same race.

830  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: POLL: What to name UK Bitcoin exchange on: April 21, 2014, 07:03:27 PM
Its fine, all opinions are valid.

Although its magic internet money, a phrase coined by many bitcoiners as opposed to magic the gathering.

I personally wouldn't avoid the exchange because of that name but I think some people have a negative association now with magic & bitcoin being used together. I personally never used Gox and thus didn't lose anything there so I'm not that sensitive to it.

Also, the "magic internet money" phrase is commonly used by detractors to shit on bitcoin and express that it's not "real" or concrete almost as often as it is used in good fun by bitcoiners. Just my 2 cents.

If I became aware of the 'magic' ingredient in the name, then I'd be inclined to think the site was run by slightly less than serious individuals. The 'ex' part of the name also suggests defunct to me.

inbit.co.uk is short and sweet, so it gets my vote. The sort of word that's good for adverts "Get inbit!".

Martin.

You forgot to vote in the poll however

Now done.

835  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's 21million total coin supply hinders it immensely on: April 02, 2014, 04:10:50 PM
It would be more convenient if Bitcoin were to evolve so that 1 unit (say BTC 0.0000001 or whatever) became synonymous with, and had a nominally accepted value of an everyday object such as an apple or a brick or something.

"Bitcoin? That'll do nicely! Your bill, Sir, comes to 4 bricks and 78 pins"

Greetings all and my first post here  Smiley

So... If things really do crash why do we have go around shooting each other - wouldn't it make more sense to carry on working, probably without actual £/$ pay and start cooperating, for our own survival and ultimately prosperity, with Bitcoin?

It'd be the last thing the 'authorities' would be expecting of us and would deny them the option to call in the troops to keep the peace.

We might take the opportunity to look at other options too
