Our English pound symbol (£) is the letter 'L', and before decimalisation we had Pounds, Shillings and Pence, which were denoted as L.s.d or (£sd).
So, Lound, Shilling, Dence - nice and easy eh?
I feel the bitcoin symbol does look a little like someone has just added a pair of eyelashes to a bold uppercase B.

Its fine, all opinions are valid.
Although its magic internet money, a phrase coined by many bitcoiners as opposed to magic the gathering.
I personally wouldn't avoid the exchange because of that name but I think some people have a negative association now with magic & bitcoin being used together. I personally never used Gox and thus didn't lose anything there so I'm not that sensitive to it. Also, the "magic internet money" phrase is commonly used by detractors to shit on bitcoin and express that it's not "real" or concrete almost as often as it is used in good fun by bitcoiners. Just my 2 cents. If I became aware of the 'magic' ingredient in the name, then I'd be inclined to think the site was run by slightly less than serious individuals. The 'ex' part of the name also suggests defunct to me. Martin.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's 21million total coin supply hinders it immensely

It would be more convenient if Bitcoin were to evolve so that 1 unit (say BTC 0.0000001 or whatever) became synonymous with, and had a nominally accepted value of an everyday object such as an apple or a brick or something.
"Bitcoin? That'll do nicely! Your bill, Sir, comes to 4 bricks and 78 pins"

Greetings all and my first post here So... If things really do crash why do we have go around shooting each other - wouldn't it make more sense to carry on working, probably without actual £/$ pay and start cooperating, for our own survival and ultimately prosperity, with Bitcoin? It'd be the last thing the 'authorities' would be expecting of us and would deny them the option to call in the troops to keep the peace. We might take the opportunity to look at other options too http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-13725277Martin.
