1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Profit Taking Strategy on: May 06, 2021, 06:11:24 AM
We hear it from the best time and time again...

"Take profits on the way up"

But how do you do that, is there a formula or strategy to do this.

I have a goal in mind, and when I hit that number I said I would take All profits out and leave the rest in.

Let's say for the sake of ease one coin is 100% and it's £1000 profit... All in all £2000 in that project. Let's say my target is £2000 profit or 200%.
We are 4 months away from the date most people seem to think the bull run might end (though 2020/2021 is no normal year with corona).

Should I take 20% of profits now, and then see if it dips back and if it does spend that £200 buying back more of the same coin, or just simply bank that £200?

Or just take 20% / £200 of the £1000 current profit (or whatever) and bank it 'safe'.

Like ADA for example, I have noticed that when it peaks, it trundles on top for a while then will drop to usually a higher low, which is good, but I missed an opportunity to buy back more coins or simply take advantage of a pump.

Hopefully you are still with me Smiley

Every reply here has been about investing in "bitcoin"...

Even $1200/$1400 in BTC now is not going to get you any real gains? CMON.. BTC would have to hit say $300,000 to get anything that would at least support you for at least 6 months.. forget "life changing money".

Let's say BTC is $60,000 end of March... It hit's $200,00 end of year maybe... That's only 3.3x or something. Turning your $1000 into $3000 or so.?

Much better in a lower cap or mid cap like Eth, Ada, UNN Smiley
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Guy using bitcoin to cover his tracks while running from the authority on: March 06, 2021, 06:36:53 AM
The only thing you need to remember tho is that Fiat currency is ALSO used by criminals, peedo scum, corrupt government scum and banker scum ... So there is no argument that BTC is going to end the world of God abiding good to do Christians and socialist governments because everyone is inherently bad as is all forms of monetary exchange. Everything and everyone is open to corruption. If we were all trading in bags of compost, compost would be open to corruption.

If you can't understand that then you don't understand how this short experience called life works.

6  Economy / Speculation / $2.5 million BITCOIN... What would that do? on: February 26, 2021, 07:26:17 AM
Just read the usual article BTC to hit $2.5 million blah blah...

If it did, could the world handle that many millionaires? Wouldn't inflation kick in? Just like the raising of the minimum wage is a con because as soon as that happens, the price of commodities just follow the same percentage. Fiat currency just loses value every year.

So would a $2.5 million BTC actually be more like $250,000 or even $50,000.... I just can't see 50% of the world's population being millionaires.

So a nice little buying opp right now?Huh Or is it??

I am eager to buy up some ADA because I see big things for this project... It has come down considerably -

Would it be best to dollar cost average in over 3 days or buy now in lump sum??

What are the strategies for this?? TA is not my strong point... yet... Plus it's never 100% accurate anyway..

9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Doge or Bitcoin? Which to buy? on: February 20, 2021, 04:35:15 PM
The thing is with $10,000.... Into BTC at $60,000.... BTC would have to hit $120,000 before you 2x your investment... Some alts or platform coins are doing 30% to 70% a week or month. BTC may be the better long term hold maybe (though maybe not) but just depends on your risk appetite is.

Why not look at ADA (CARDANO) personally I think this is the best mid cap coin, or Etherium right now, with $10,000 you can by 5.5 ETH and you can can sit back and watch the money come rolling in Smiley
10  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Decentralised Government - DEGOV on: February 18, 2021, 11:11:17 AM

Is DEGOV a possibility?

No, it is not possible. At least not over the long term. Extremely weak governments such as what you describe will ultimately get overrun by stronger governments looking to expand. Look at what happened to the Indians in the early days of the United States.

Native Americans were centuries behind in technology and were outmatched by the settlers. The people absolutely would fight back against an attack. We don't need an organized military to do that, we just need some Americans that aren't braindead and still care about their freedom.

Decentralized governments will ultimately have a weaker military and will be less able to fend off attacks from stronger governments with a strong military. Decentralized governments also will not be able to spend as much to develop the 'latest and greatest' in terms of military equipment, so it would quickly become outmatched.

Unfortunately that is true, the only way around this issue would be if all the decentralised countries would work together. If all the countries are in the same faction and have defense alliances in place than the military aspect wouldn't be so important anymore. Eventually humans should evolve out of then need for war and start resolving our conflicts in a civilized way.

OK this is getting deep now. The purpose of any government is to deal with all of the admin side to society. Their roles are just glorified admin roles.. Their purpose is to work quietly in the background, nothing else. But what has happened is they are the naughty cashiers who started to take 50p when no one was looking, then they pumped their steals to £1... now they are just outright taking the piss.... If not all aspects, then some aspects need serious consideration in regards to decentralising, such as voting for one... As well as where your taxes go (take Texas for example, gas pipes not maintained over the years, they opted out of updating the gas pipes with winter insulation to most likely syphon off millions in off-shore accounts - to the tune of hundreds dying of no heating or water - in America in 2021?!)

Voting is definitely something that can benefit from blockchain technology surly??

Unless the lying politicians wouldn't want this very important counting act to be done by very smart and truthful algorithms?

@franky1 love your breakdown about how money could be allocated, and surly if this was implemented it would be so much more beneficial for society. No 'hands in the bag' or 'dirty dealings'?!

I'm telling you now if a project comes out that promises to solve and implement this, sell your house and put it all in!
12  Other / Politics & Society / Decentralised Government - DEGOV on: February 17, 2021, 06:22:54 AM
OK well writing anything like Etherium or Bitcoin is way out of my league so this one is on the table. Please remember me when you launch and grant me 10 million tokens.

The trend here seems to be Decentralisation. This is the whole movement here. So would it be possible to decentralise government. Two key events led me to this idea.

1. Reading Texas mayor Tim Boyd's comments on his constituents:

“No one owes you or your family anything; nor is it the local governments responsibility to support you during trying times like this! Sink or swim, it’s your choice!” he wrote. The town, with a population of about 4,000, is located in Mitchell County, where many were left without power as record-setting cold weather batters much of the state. In a subsequent post, Boyd apologised, writing, “I was only making the statement that those folks that are too lazy to get up and fend for themselves but are capable should not be dealt a handout.”

2. Listening to a Russell Brand talk on building better societies.

Is DEGOV a possibility?

Let me know if anyone is building this. Smiley

15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cheap Thrills And BITCOIN Shills? on: February 15, 2021, 03:49:01 PM
that's why videos on youtube are only for added entertainment. We don't take what famous YouTubers say seriously. due to the fact that their videos will be out of date and out of date as the market develops. they only aim to find audiences and customers. that's all, and nothing more. so you have to be very clever in responding to the YouTuber phenomenon who often talks about cryptocurrency and always checks the date the video was uploaded.

Massively. It's worse than watching those Saturday night sing and ring contest shows... None of them predicted the recent correction did they.

16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Cheap Thrills And BITCOIN Shills? on: February 15, 2021, 03:27:22 PM
Are we all in agreement that 98% of the 'crypto experts' on Youtube have no idea what's going on?

They use clickbait titles like "BIGGEST OPPORTUNITY IN DEFI" or BITCOIN ABOUT TO "EXPLODE / DIE", they are the ones smashing it in crypto but only through youtube ad revenue?! Or most of them shill their own coins.... I have seen huge pumps in coins they are hyping up on the video, the coin pumps just before the video is released.

Do most people on here stay away from them?

Can anyone share REPUTABLE sources or is everyone on this pump and dump scheme?!

19  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Investing and Trading Strategies. on: February 11, 2021, 09:53:23 AM
I guess there's many ways to do this. Let's say you invest £500. Your goal is to 10x you investments and happily pull out.
You invest in 5 coins. £100 each.

You track your investments and see that on your £500, you now are overall 100% up and see you have made £500, so £1000 in total.

Would you pull out £500 or would you leave it all in to grow to your 10x?

Any strategies here I can get to know?
Some people have the habit of pulling out their capital when they made enough profits and some others have the habit of pulling out the total profits and leave their capital to grow again so it all depends on individual requirements from their investment but leaving the capital along with the profits you made or simply invest the profits on another coin is called compounding and which is more effective than any other strategies.

Nice one.

In the above example... Let's say £100 was invested in a coin.. And it went to 100%, would you 100% be a good exit point to take out wither the profit or initial capital (don't suppose it matters here)... Or would 150% be better? Again it's down to personal prefs aint it!
20  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Investing and Trading Strategies. on: February 11, 2021, 07:21:37 AM
If I'm treating that capital as dead money, I wouldn't pull out any of the amount as long as I'm fine not doing it and I'm not in need of any amount from that investment and diversification. But if I'm very conservative and there's a need for me to take back my money at least and enjoy the profits that I've made, I'll take the cash and leave the remaining amount just as your example. It will depend to the situation that I'm currently facing. If I'm in dire need, I'll take profit and leave it but if I'll follow my behavior and I'll apply what I've learned in my experience, I'll keep it as is.

Yes one plan was to let the initial investment (100 in this case) do the shift and create 100% of itself, then pull the initial investment out and put that to work somewhere else (another coin) and repeat.... Would that sound like a logical step or is it doomed?
