1  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: mmpool.org - 1.5% fee DGM/PPS - tx fees/vardiff/merge mine/tor on: July 19, 2018, 10:18:29 PM

someone is running 450th at it.

and finally a fix!

2018-07-18: NiceHash or high difficulty miners can use port 3334 instead of 3333. Starting difficulty on that port is 1,000,000.

I will point 1 ph asap.
Sorry about the delay in getting this done. I've had unreliable internet for some time and haven't been able to get onto bitcointalk. As you've noticed high difficulty miners are supported now and I'll work through the backlog of other issues.
2  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: mmpool.org - 1.5% fee DGM/PPS - tx fees/vardiff/merge mine/tor on: December 13, 2017, 12:05:43 AM
If possible would their be an advantage to merge mine with bitcoincash. And also it seems UNO has a lot of blocks not accepted, are you seeing that here
It's not possible to merge mine with bcash due - their coin does not have the necessary functionality to be mined as an aux coin. UNO probably is getting blocks not accepted because they hard forked recently - if pools haven't updated their software then they'll be invalid.

I guess it's a good idea to lower the payout threshold, as the Price of Bitcoin is drastically higher then back in the day when this pool started.

Will the merged mining feature be activated some time again?
I'd like to reduce the minimum payout threshold but fees are high and the pool currently absorbs the fee. I need to think about what affect lowering it will do.

The plan is to enable merge mining again but it's a medium term plan, not a short term one.

Pool will be down for a short time while some maintenance on the servers goes ahead. I'll edit this post when it's back up. I expect about an hour.

Edit: Pool is back up now.

The hot wallet is being topped up and the BTC should be available for withdraw when that's done.
Did you post in the wrong thread?

I bumped the minimum difficulty up for nicehash but it sounds like there are still issues. I'll look at running a higher difficulty port specifically for nicehash.

Block 484629 was found by a5d78fff earning them an additional 1.75135770 BTC from the transactions fees for the block. Coins are now available for withdrawal.

So min difficulty requires is 65535? I can set it to that if that's the solution.
I've restarted the pool with difficulty set to a min of 65536.
8  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: mmpool.org - 1.5% fee DGM/PPS - tx fees/vardiff/merge mine/tor on: September 11, 2017, 10:41:59 AM
Looks like the fix has solved the main issue but there is still a minor incompatibility problem. nh frequently tries to establish additional bridges and occasionally fails to get it over the "min. working difficulty" of 65535. We still have to pay for the failed connections. According to the Order Details page the Delta value is between -1 % and -3 % all the time (Delta: "difference between measured pool speed and paying speed.")
So min difficulty requires is 65535? I can set it to that if that's the solution.

In other news, block found! It is being processed and payout will occur soon.
9  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: mmpool.org - 1.5% fee DGM/PPS - tx fees/vardiff/merge mine/tor on: August 19, 2017, 01:35:16 PM
small question about the payout specs.  I just have a small antminer aimed there which barely got under the
payout threshold last block.  I noticed my payout was a bit more than the DGM that I had earned, and was wondering
why.  Is that because of the shares paying out some TX amount?
The DGM shown in the user stats is an estimate. It probably underestimated in your case and at the time of the block solve you were entitled to more of a share.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: August 06, 2017, 06:06:01 AM
even though ppl appreciate all the work you put into dvc and you deserve to be compensated for it, usually any coin over 2billion, unless it has a superstar devs or strong dedicated team, will be looked upon as a pumpanddump coin (exception: dogecoin but even that coin is not taken seriously. unlike dvc ripple and stellar got dedicated team) where the starter devs' only interest is to make quick bucks and get out. this coin has shown that(look at our historical chart). all the evidence shows dvc has not been for the community.
You're thinking of this coin as if it is like other coins, but my understanding is its history is different. It was created to reward people working on open source software or writing articles on devtome. It wasn't created to "make quick bucks" or to pump and dump. The way it works is open source developers get their devcoins and they sell it as a way to make an income off their software efforts People who want to support the open source devs buy devcoins. By buying devcoins they are creating price support for the devs selling it. Buying devcoins is like donating to open source software. That few people are propping up the price is probably more a reflection of not understanding the reasoning behind the coin.

New developers should define what they want the new coin to be. Is it the above, or something different? If it's different, they should create a new coin. Markm being an original designer of the coin doesn't need to start a new coin to continue it - they already have it. What's the point of calling a new coin 'devcoin' if it's completely different from current devcoin and is just like every other coin?

An understanding of why devcoin hasn't gotten more popular would be a good discussion. I see lack of keeping the client updated, the distribution of coins to developers isn't very transparent, devtome authors got large amounts compared to others, devtome didn't pull in the advertising income that was expected and the lack of understanding that buying devcoins off developers is a way of donating to them.
11  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: mmpool.org - 1.5% fee DGM/PPS - tx fees/vardiff/merge mine/tor on: July 15, 2017, 11:01:43 PM
nh have changed the minimum difficulty to 2^14-1.
I've changed the pools initial difficulty to be 2^14. That should hopefully resolve the issue with nicehash.
12  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: mmpool.org - 1.5% fee DGM/PPS - tx fees/vardiff/merge mine/tor on: July 15, 2017, 10:52:26 PM
nh have changed the minimum difficulty to 2^14-1. That's why all the inactive or partially active orders are now marked as "Dead" most of the time, and nh deletes them after a while.
I already tried changing my username to "<username>+32768". The mining pool's overall hashrate then looks correct but my hashrate is zero and the shares don't turn up in my statistics. What is the correct way of setting the initial difficulty?
Definitely don't change your username - unless that is the exact username you registered. Otherwise the hashes get accepted by the pool but assigned to no one. The stratum protocol has a way for the miner to set a suggested difficulty but I guess with nicehash that isn't possible. I can bump up the initial difficulty if it's useful.
13  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: mmpool.org - 1.5% fee DGM/PPS - tx fees/vardiff/merge mine/tor on: July 10, 2017, 01:42:16 AM
I did hit the sixth one last July and got 0.055 btc Grin
The difference in the transaction fee reward is definitely noticeable from last year vs this year!
14  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: mmpool.org - 1.5% fee DGM/PPS - tx fees/vardiff/merge mine/tor on: July 10, 2017, 12:38:20 AM
He is going to have to end  the winner take all on tx fees.
Transaction fees are large enough now that the system will probably have to change. At some point transaction fees will be the majority of the reward and then the existing system becomes more like solo mining and less like pooled mining.

The likely solution will be to have the transaction fee included with the mining subsidy when the score is calculated for the share submission. This unfortunately removes the 'bonus' aspect of being a block finder though. Perhaps some mix of the two.

Block 474762 was found by user a5d78fff earning them an additional 1.70101753 BTC in transaction fees. Coins are now available for withdrawal.

I'm processing the block now. Expect the announcement of who got the fees and release of the coins shortly.

(2) Withdrawing NMC comes up with a "connect: null" message box.
This should now be fixed. Please let me know if there are any other withdrawal issues.
18  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: mmpool.org - 1.5% fee DGM/PPS - tx fees/vardiff/merge mine/tor on: June 27, 2017, 08:31:07 AM
and an updated version of the pool software.
This is great news. The NMC withdrawal issue is still there, though.  Cry

The pool is now running bitcoind 0.14.2
This is the perfect opportunity to have a look at namecoind 0.14.99  Wink
Latest commit 14 hours ago at the time of writing this post.
The software updated was the ckpool pool software that the server runs for the stratum proxy. Next is the front end software which will fix the NMC withdrawal issue. Now that we're on the latest BTC and hopefully there won't be any major refactorings for a while I can finish the merge mining work.
19  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: mmpool.org - 1.5% fee DGM/PPS - tx fees/vardiff/merge mine/tor on: June 27, 2017, 02:49:25 AM
There was a few minutes of downtime as some pool maintenance was done. The pool is now running bitcoind 0.14.2 and an updated version of the pool software.
20  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: mmpool.org - 1.5% fee DGM/PPS - tx fees/vardiff/merge mine/tor on: March 20, 2017, 01:23:46 AM
There are two issues at the moment:
(1) mmpool.org/statistics shows the wrong Difficulty value.
(2) Withdrawing NMC comes up with a "connect: null" message box.
Thanks for noticing (1). This was a caching issue on the webserver and has been fixed. (2) is a bug when namecoin balances hit a certain amount. I can process a withdrawal manually if you want until it gets fixed.
