Wallet Roadmap Released

We've been busy behind the scenes planning our future wallet upgrades. Please see below what we have planned:

  • Anon Functionality: After much research and discussion with technical experts we have identified and selected an anonymity design which we believe is suitable both for security and everyday use as an optional enhancement to our wallet (ie: it will still be possible to use the currently existing, non-anon, transactions). It is our understanding that our chosen design will provide a level of anonymity which will be more difficult to compromise than other existing anon-implementations. Further details will be released as the implementation of said technology matures.
  • Fiat conversion capability: Future versions of the wallet will add a dynamic fiat conversion system to the wallet for some of the major currencies in use (USD, EUR, etc). Such a system will make it possible for casual users to execute transactions like “I want to pay for a USD 499.99 TV" in DCM without having to resort to a calculator, making the use of our coins more practical in everyday life. The exchange rates used will be dynamically retrieved and updated through the use of APIs provided by cryptocurrency exchanges.
  • Accounting Extensions: We are planning to add accounting extensions to our wallet in an effort to make the wallet design and usage more appropriate for business use. These extensions will include the capability to define an account hierarchy and to assign transactions to an account as well as initially providing export capabilities to popular accounting software such as Quicken for the USA and Datev for Germany

We hope that our investors can see the benefits of such extensions to the usage scenarios we are aiming for: a cryptocurrency which is accepted by businesses and is suitable for everyday usage.

In case this was missed by anyone, from the previous page.

Edited to add: Maybe the ANN heading can be updated to highlight these new points?

I wonder why my wallet isnt staking. It is unlocked, I have mature coins (in wallet since 3 days) and the wallet says: "minting, expected reward in 1 secs" since 2 days now. Anyone can offer some help?

I have the same, at some point it will stake. (its random!) the calculation of the expected time is way off however.
The bigger the amount that is staking, the longer it takes as well.. If you leave wallet open for 1 year, you should get the exact stake % as promissed. On a daily basis it will be not very accurate.

Yeah it does seem to be totally random.  Some days I get coins......then sometimes its like 2-3 days between receiving stakes.

DCM is currently disabled on Bittrex.  I was hoping to move some coins off the exchange and into my wallet

https://bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=BTC-DCM  Huh
Works fine!

The market works, but deposits/withdrawals seem to be disabled. I'll take a guess and figure it's simply due to this (listed under Bittrex news):

Wallet server maintenance

Maintenance in progress, some currencies will be offline.

Thank you kindly.  I missed that last night.  Read?  What's that?  I can't read........

That's some great new developments!  Hopefully this gets DCM on notice, with the alt coin community.  Price is a bargain right now!

I can't sync the new wallet at all, stuck at 15024

Maybe your wallet has PoS blocks in it that are invalid.
So, it broadcasts those invalid PoS blocks to the net and the net reacts to it and treats it like a threat.
What you need to do is this:

* Close your wallet app
* backup your wallet.dat file and remove everything (including the wallet.dat file).
* Start your wallet and let it sync
* After your wallet syncs completely, close your wallet application
* replace the backed up wallet.dat file
* Start your wallet app.

If any of your coins are missing (and not showing any amount in staking label) then do the following:

* Open the rpc console (Help->Debug and select RPC Console)
* Type: checkwallet (it should show you what is missing)
* Then type: repairwallet (it will show you the same, but it should recover them at the same time)

Hope that helps

After the second attempt of deleting everything and redownloading the blockchain it finally synced for me.  Thank you for posting this.  I had some missing coins, and this retrieved them. I was kind of freaking out because it was 18k DCM.  I do have some mined coins that look to be lost. They have a "?".  Can these be recovered?  These were supposed to be delivered when I was having issues will my wallet.

Why the 1st one holding so much coins? 10 times to 2nd?
Thats Bittrexs address.

Im stuck on block 15009 as well.

After deleting everything but my wallet file and redownloading the blockchain twice, i finally synced up correctly.

I have had to resort to this method.  I tried the step by step provided by mindfox, but it's still getting hung up (even after downloading the blocks it shows out of sync).  So I deleted everything except my wallet.dat file, and I'm in the process of downloading the blocks (currently have ~10500).  I'll check my progress in the morning and hopefully I will be up and running.  Don't understand why I'm having such an issue.

Now I'm stuck on block 16398.  But at least I got past 15009.  Deleting everything and gonna download the blockchain....AGAIN.
When you say stuck, what do you mean?
Sometimes it takes a bit longer to distinguish between valid and invalid (orphaned) blocks and it's normal to have some delay.
Can you please describe what "stuck" means for you?

Thank you Smiley

Using your method it looked like everything worked.  However my wallet was still showing the incorrect balance and it was showing "out of sync", even though it was telling me that all the blocks were downloaded. With the other method, it showed xx,xxx of xx,xxxx blocks downloaded (97+%), but would not move beyond 406 blocks remaining.

I too have given up on chasing pumps.  The only way it can be the slightest bit successful, is if you're watching the market full-time.  It has to be a full time job.  For those of us that have full time jobs outside of crypto, this is near impossible.  I've decided on a few coins to hold for long term without worrying too much about it.

DCM was my higher risk decision.  Yes I'm down (and part of that the loss is pretty substantial), but I will continue to hold.  Not because I like getting beaten up, but because I believe in DCM and the dev team.

Did all that and all the coins disappeared (had a backup, so not concerned). Then ran a repairwallet function in console, and coins came back and syncing + Staking nicely.

Cheers for the info.

If I have to run a repair wallet function in the consolue, what is the command line used?  I just want to make sure I have everything I need tonight, when I try and repair my wallet.  Thanks in advance.

Ofcourse, the average volume has been under 2 btc for the past 2 days, there wasn't even the slightest dump. I am not worried about his actions, supposing he has the brains to (eventually) see he's not getting any revenge doing the things he's talking about. The only thing i worry about, is the involvement of the team on the market. They made an enormous amount of money on 1 day, they could easily help the volume & price set to above IPO price. But i'm not critisizing, just hope to see some more action (like in other crypto's). I suppose most work done right now is behind the scene !

I totally understand what you're saying, but if the dev team steps in to artificially boost the price, how does that help the distribution of the coin in general?  I guess, I'd rather the coin suffer a little bit now to weed out the weak hands and to solidify the base.  Get more distribution and people actually willing to hold their investment, rather then trying to flip it for a quick profit, and I think this benefits the coin better then the devs buying it up.  It's tough times right now, but we do have an active and INVOLVED dev team.
194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCM] Digital Commerce*MULTIPOOL*100% POS First Focused Multi-vendor Devs on: June 16, 2014, 02:54:40 PM
I think the only people selling below the IPO of 0.0001 BTC must be the ones who got their DCM for free. I bought many DCM at the IPO and no way I am going to sell these for time being. It is sad there are people here who are desperately trying to wreck DCM. Get a life.

Ikr, don't understand why someone would take revenge on the investors when having personal issues with a developer

So be it.  It's an opportunity to pick up cheap coins if you have BTC left.  It will recover.  The small core we have is pretty solid, and it will continue to grow.  We just have to be patient.  I don't think this coin will die (they have a lot of good ideas, and a very active dev team), but the core (us investors) needs to be solid.

If you have problems syncing with the new client, please follow these instructions.

1) Stop your wallet and wait for 5 seconds (just to make sure that it closed completely)
2) Go to the data folder of your wallet (for Windows: %appdata%\dcom and for Linux: ~/.dCom )
2) Backup the file "wallet.dat" to a safe place. This is where your coins are saved and by losing this, you will lose your coins
3) If a file dCom.conf exists, rename it to dCom.conf.bak
4) Delete everything from that folder except wallet.dat and dCom.conf.bak (if it exists)
5) Create a new file named dCom.conf with the following text
Code:
rpcusername=[whateveryouwant]
rpcpassword=[mustbecomplexenough]
server=0
listen=0
irc=0
dns=0
connect=209.126.71.235

6) Make sure that the file is saved
7) Start your wallet

It should begin to sync with that specific node. As soon as it finishes syncing, do the following steps:
1) Stop wallet
2) Go again to the data folder of wallet
3) Rename dCom.conf to dCom.conf.resyncsafe
4) Rename dCom.con.bak to dCom.conf (if it exists)
5) Start your wallet

Hope that helps

For Windows 7, that folder doesn't exist (Step #2).  For older versions I can find it this way, but I've never been able to find those files on my Windows 7 computer.

OK...I found it.  I will have to continue this tonight.  Have to go to work.

Mandatory Wallet Upgrade

Due to some statistical issues in our wallet, all DCM holders are required to update to the 1.02 version of our wallet.

Download link (for all platforms): http://dc-altcoin.com/content/downloads.htm

We advise our users that the 1.01 version of the wallet will not work correctly against a network comprised of new wallets.

This wallet fixes some, but not all, of the issues reported by our users. A forthcoming version will fix all reported problems; this future version will be transaction-compatible with version 1.02.

So I downloaded the new wallet.  I am currently stuck on block 15009, and it won't advance.  I've tried restarting my computer multiple times, but it remains on that block.  I will now try to re-download it, to see if that fixes my issue.

After re-downloading the wallet, it still remains on block 15009.  Why am I having this issue now?

Please confirm that you are on version 1.02

definitely on version 1.02

As far as the portal preview, I like it.  Would be nice to see two different models of the TV on the page, but I get what you're trying to do, and love the look and ease of being able to choose the currency up at the top of the page as a drop down.  If we do get vendors when this is up and running that sell USEFUL items like TVs and other real world electronics (DVDs, CDs, Blu-Rays, Video Games, laptops, game systems, etc) and even appliances, I think it could be a big deal.  I know I'd spend some crypto to buy items I actually use/need.

Edited to add:  Will the portal have an option to use multiple coins as payment?  For instance if you don't have enough DCM, can you use BTC or XBC, or even a CC to make the full payment?

Well, since this is a just a design, it re-uses the same image, text, etc for each product; this is quite standard for a PSD design. The detail view for a particular product will of course contain several images of the same product which can then be shown in some sort of lightbox popup. I hope I understood your comment correctly here.

As for your question for multiple coins: an interesting idea, I hadn't thought of that yet. After thinking it through, I think that such a mixed-payment feature would complicated the code quite a bit. So no promises on that one, but we'll keep it in mind.

Thanks for your feedback.

Gotcha.  You understood my comment correctly.  I did not realize it was SOP.  And thanks for taking my idea into consideration.  Hopefully you can find a way to work it in  Grin, but if not it's understandable.
