wtf. I tried to delete my bitmonero folder again under program data/bitmonero and I still get this shit on resync. Wth? Anyone?
SYNCHRONIZATION started 2016-Oct-18 21:50:32.379171 [P2P6]ERROR C:/msys64/DISTRIBUTION-BUILD/src/cryptonote_core/blockchain.cpp:1835 Ours and foreign blockchain have only genesis block in common... o.O
This is ok to ignore. This happens when you restart the blockchain download from scratch.

if you type "seed" within simplewallet, it will show you your 24 words
thanks, that worked, and my wallet is like from early May.. Doesn't work for me. All I get is "unknown command". Yes my wallet has a seed. I deleted it from the log file long ago. The help command reveals nothing useful for seed. My help commend does show seed: seed Get deterministic seed
Maybe you have an old version? I downloaded the June 11 version from the first page. Try the link in this post. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=583449.msg8506566#msg8506566I think the first post has the same links (with outdated version labels) so I guess it depends on when you downloaded a copy.

I'm not getting in my wallet monero coins this to be a problem? I have done the upgrade to 0.8.8.2. Balance: 0.000000000000 unlocked balance: 0.0000000000000 Did try to type refresh? Yes Are you using a pool? If so which pool? de.minergate and cryptonotepool.org.uk Double check your XMR address. If it looks correct, contact the pool admins to see if there are problems with their payouts. Everything is correct but the coins will not arrive for the Wallet Like I said, please contact the pool admins and see if their payouts are working correctly.

I can't fathom dumping LTC for a coin with just a few months under its belt that is not even traded on Cryptsy.
My guess is that XMR trades about 80% of its volume on Poloniex. If true, this begs the question why a small(ish) exchange is the one with all the volume? Why not dump a coin that brings no volume and just costs money for support...makes no sense. First mover advantage, same reason BTC-E still has a lot of LTC volume. Who cares about cryptsy, they take months to add non Bitcoin clones and donīt have much volume anymore. The anonymity thing is rather suspect, too.
I don't use Monero, so I will give it the benefit of the doubt on the client capacities.
However, people with names send money to exchanges who require names and emails. They keep records of trades made. And as far as i know, you can't mine it in secret.
So it's not really anonymous, is it?
All altcoin exchange require are an email... no need to put your normal mail there and thats not an issue at all anyway, i also get cash from the ATM with my atm card registered on my name but can still spend the cash where i want. I think you simply donīt understand the reason why an online currency should be like cash. Not sure what u mean you canīt mine it in secret, the pool doesnīt see where the coins go to anyway and no one stops you to mine it through tor or whatever proxy... Re: Mining Your IP address is logged, and the authorities could grab that information. Isn't Tor too slow to mine any coin? Re: the cash analogy The same argument applies to all the other cryptocurrencies. Re: "All altcoin exchanges require are an email" This is not true, many require documents, or make it so you are almost forced to leave a mobile number or whatever. Increasingly, the bigger exchanges are regulating. What we mean by cash is that no one can look at the Monero blockchain and see who paid who. This transaction privacy is the main differentiator between Monero and Bitcoin. This is not the case for bitcoin or any alts derived from the bitcoin codebase. All transactions are publicly viewable. In parallel to the cash analogy for Monero, you can think of using Bitcoin is like credit card transactions that have been recorded and can be reviewed by other people.

Wow what happened to the hashrate on moneropool.com? From their front page: 08-13: Pool upgrade in progress. Mining works fine in background. Stats back at ~ 03:00 UTC.

Assuming you didn't do anything really stupid, that's quite a gap. It could mean that the author implemented it pretty badly. What CPU is it, perhaps I can improve the performance? 24 x Intel Xeon L5639 @ 2.13GHz (2 sockets). I checked hash rate with http://198.199.79.100 statistics Okay, er... wut? 24 x Intel Xeon L5639 -- 24 processors? Nah, he probably meant cores; typo (2 sockets) -- Wait, if he's running two Xeon L5639s... that would be 8 physical cores and 16 threads. Where is 24 coming from? http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Xeon+L5639+%40+2.13GHz&cpuCount=2Looks like it is 6 physical cores x 2 cpus = 12 physical cores --> 24 threads.

Okay, one feature we REALLY need in simplewallet is a command history buffer. It doesn't have to be persistent; it can start with an empty buffer every time. Having to retype things kinda sucks. And I automatically press the up arrow and get garbage that I have to erase.
This works fine in windows. It is broken in linux.

Guys, what is the blockheight now?
Trying to figure out how long it'll take until monero is fully synced.
Blockheight is now at 33649. You can download the blockchain as of May 8 in the OP to save time.
