that's odd, i can't start win wallet anymore online (w7-64), offline it's ok EXCEPTION: St13runtime_error value is type str, expected obj ......\digitalcoin-qt.exe in Runaway exception Bittrex has disabled the BTC-DGC market and the wallet has a connection to that market. I don't know if the "market" piece of the wallet can be disabled, but starting it off line is a good workaround to at least get it started.

You're correct. Very little activity, mainly because there is no dev currently.
DGC is a good coin, and would be much better with a dev who could spend some time on it and give us something to be interested in.
There is no pump. DGC has had a very stable price for a long time. Always around $.01.

A bright idea for once, Your correct we all did. That plan was the plan we were following, until you decided you wernt happy with the changes in the DGC Foundation as documented here: https://forum.digitalcoin.co/threads/1699-Why-I-m-Resigning-the-Title-of-quot-President-quot-of-the-Digitalcoin-Foundation/page2I dont believe non coders are second class citizens, however your extremely stupid to be telling people their coding is shit when you dont know how to code yourself. BlockchainMechanic, you really should let DGC die its slow death, most of the team tried to bring it to life and were brought back down. A V5 would just really be stupid Ahmed Just repeating what I've heard. Admittedly I really don't know much other than what I've been told. I don't know why you're quoting that guy, but I was asked to engage with him by multiple people. One thing for sure though, is that you're still trying to keep people away from DGC and I don't understand why. Whether it's code or attitude, not sure, but comments like this: Approval IS needed from me and xawksaw. Submit a PR. If all works okay then it'll be pulled in and approved.
Ahmed
And responses from potential developers like this: Well it seems you have a great coin there, however I see your problem, having read both threads, and venturing into the DGC IRC.
The biggest issue I see is a few bad apples you have that are very disruptive and one unfortunately is one of your Dev's, and having the likes of gamegear sat in the IRC and being shoved right up ahmed's arse is a recipe for disaster.
I know as I have had dealings with both in the past, and it has not ended well. Have made it very difficult for DGC to evolve. Blockchain Mechanic, if you do decide to work on DGC, feel free to call on me for any assistance I can provide. There are likely still a few supporters who may also be willing to help in any way they can. TT

I should have just kept my comments to myself.
Many people, including Ahmed, spent valuable time and energy working on DGC.
I was heavily involved in what I thought was an effort to establish some mainstream legitimacy for the project.
Only plan, ever, was to make DGC into a well functioning respected currency, but as Ahmed says I'm a second class citizen because I have very little coding knowledge.
After spending hundreds of hours and a ton of money, I've taken to the sidelines. No real plans at this point except to continue keeping things alive waiting for someone to take some interest.
I do still own a little DGC, but never owned more than 5% of the total supply. Now it's maybe 2%.

not sure where you clicked. but latest code is here: https://github.com/DGCDev/digitalcoinThere was a proposal for DGC V4. But me and the other devs were driven away by a certain individual controlling most of the money supply and forcing his ideas on all the devs/users. Ahmed I know you're not referring to me. You and other "devs" were happy to work on the coin as long as you were getting paid, but other "devs" called your work amateur. What ideas did anyone force? Domains, forum, block explorer, and the last remaining permanent node (the one that allows the android wallet to remain functional), are all still active and up to date. No thanks to devs who were driven away.

Have had some unrealistic offers, so still looking for the right person who can turn Digitalcoin around.
TT
The market value of these coins is 27 BTC and you are looking for 40 BTC. The market is also extremely illiquid, barely over 1 BTC of total bid support, your stash of coins is probably worth 5-10 BTC to the right buyer. Thanks for your assessment. It is very difficult to accumulate this much DGC, even over time. Because like myself, anyone who holds any significant amount of DGC is unwilling to sell. If someone has the wherewithal to develop and promote this coin, it will easily go over 6K satoshi, where it was just a few months ago. It's been much higher than that in the past. The Chinese market is much more liquid, and would sell on BTC38 if I wanted to unload, but that's not what I'm trying to do here. This sale is for a dev or group who wants to put some effort into it and multiply their investment. TT

I am sad to say it, but I no longer have the time to be active in the Digitalcoin project. I've always admired this coin and many of the people involved with it, and still feel that it has significant potential, but it really needs someone to spearhead development and advancement, and when that person or group gets behind this coin, it will go far.
In order to encourage involvement by someone with the desire to advance DGC, I am selling my entire stake in DGC as one lump sum totalling approximately 1.1M DGC or 4-5% of the current supply, for 40 BTC. As an added bonus, buyer will receive ownership of digitalcoin.org domain name and the @DigitalcoinORG twitter account, at no extra cost.
At present I am unwilling to sell less than the full amount, or negotiate on price, but may be willing to do so in the future so feel free to make any offers.
Price is subject to change based on significant moves in DGC/BTC/USD exchange rates.
Please PM or post here if you have any interest.

UPDATE
Digitalcoin qt wallet deserves some attention. There is one small bug and some unfinished functionality, plus a facelift would be nice. Looking more and more like this will happen soon. Details as more become available, and more community input is welcome.
There has been ongoing discussion regarding core updates. Currently planning on making changes to the difficulty adjustments to correct block time irregularities, and a possible change to the block rewards that will not change daily coin production. Current approach would be more of a 3.1 update while setting up for V4.
Actual difficulty adjustment techniques are being considered by people much smarter than myself, but the intention is to smooth the block times which vary too much, and improve the overall performance and stability. All opinions are welcome.

It's a shame on the entire community that innovation and hard work is met with attacks and thefts.
When someone works for several years, with peanuts for profits, then realizes he's become a target for nefarious actors, I guess this is the only option.
Seeming more and more that it doesn't pay to be fair and honest, and crooks are the only ones who succeed in this space.

This coin is good. I hope it does well.
I don't really believe in PoS, but then I don't know too much about it. Is it actually possible to implement multi-algo with some blocks being found on PoS...? How does difficulty work in proof of stake?
I've never fully understood how POS works, but it seems like POS/POW hybrids make a lot of sense from a user perspective. This coin looks interesting. Taking forever to download the blockchain
Has the blockchain finished downloading for you? TT

I posted this in another coins thread, but it was largely ignored. I think it can be of great benefit to DGC as well.
DGC desperately needs an additional form of mining to appeal to users who want to support and secure the network, but don't have the time nor funds to set up and maintain expensive mining equipment.
There currently isn't much incentive for anyone to mine anything other than multipools, or one of the TOP coins they are heavily invested in. With a very carefully calculated PoS reward (there may be something better than PoS these days, I'm terribly out of date...POS3?) it can appeal to the basic user. I don't think pure POS would be necessary (or would it), maybe hybrid?
Tell me your thoughts.
Agreed, and very much in favor of exploring this further. There has been discussion around this topic on the Digitalcoin forum, but limited input. TT

Message to whoever controls Cryptsy's BTC:
Contact me and I'll return the coins on your behalf to Cryptsy, don't need or want to know your identity, and I'll take a lower cut than cryptcrackhead. If you want to return all the BTC, I can pay you your split in unregistered securities, such as savings bonds, or whatever commodity you would like, such as rough diamonds, gold coins, las vegas/atlantic city/macau casino chips, maple syrup, etc. I can get you whatever works for you if BTC is too hot to handle.
This is the most brilliant post on this thread. Bravo! TT

Is this the real digital coin thread?
Where is their official thread. I can't locate it anywhere?
Did they all move off to their own forum and not leave a forwarding address.
This is the latest official ANN. Oldest that I'm aware of is: Topic: DigitalCoin.Co | Secure. Established. Active Development | v2.0 Released! https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=209508.0This was started by baritus. After that came: [DGC] Digitalcoin 3.0 | Multi-algorithm, Improved Blockchain Storage | RELEASED! https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=785601.0This was started by kenel So in order to be able to keep the OP updated we started this one, and a few of us have access to the Digitalcoin Foundation user account, so we shouldn't have to create another ANN if one person leaves. We do use the Digitalcoin forum a little more than BCT. https://forum.digitalcoin.coTT

Why do people keep money on an exchange again? Especially since we have wallets?
It's called buy and sell orders. Not sure there are too many other options for trading. TT
