41  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Australian wanting to buy bitcoins from fellow Aussies. Netbank/Paypal/Alertpay on: October 07, 2011, 07:00:19 AM
Hi Andre

While you're around I just wanted to ask you if your users should be concerned about the current strike-off action which is in progress against your parent company by ASIC?

http://www.search.asic.gov.au/cgi-bin/gns030c?juris=9&hdtext=ACN&srchsrc=1&acn=131700779

I realise that this could be the result of administrative balls ups - your ASIC records still show the Victorian address even though you moved your operations to Queensland - but it's a bit disconcerting and it would be a good idea to get it resolved quickly if that's the case.

This is the process that is undertaken when relocating to another state as we have moved from Victoria to Queensland (we have stated this on our site in the help section) its now out of hands and waiting for ASIC conformation to come through.

Thanks.

Andre

I travel there often, I do not have an Australian bank account (though I am considering opening one this trip).

I'd really prefer to deal in cash but the other two options you mentioned aren't out of the question.

What we have found is that the other two options are quite expensive up to around $15 plus in fees alone, not sure if you want to pay that much?

Hi,

I'm relatively new to this exchange and how BTC work, however i recently made my first deposit using the service Mtgox used to offer for Australians. I'm now trying to make a purchase however the option for Australia bank deposit has been removed? whats up?

I have searched but found no info :/

Thanks!
we are working on offering our users at https://worldbitcoinexchange.com the opportunity to withdraw AUD to MTGOX (instead of an Australian bank account)

Currently you can only deposit into our exchange from MTGOX

We have noticed recently a surge in fraudulent deposits of funds in Australia, so this might be linked.

Some of those have passed through our anti-fraud system (a bit less than AU$1000 worth of funds which we have taken as loss), which we have been tuning to detect this kind of fraudulent activity. We are working with our provider in Australia (Technocash) on reducing the volume of fraudulent activity (as we can detect those in advance with better accuracy, it becomes not profitable enough for fraudsters and they find other ways to cash out their illegal money).

Totally agree. we are seeing the same activity.

what's a 'fraudulent deposit'? do they try to reverse the deposit after they get their bitcoins?

I can only speak for https://worldbitcoinexchange.com ,  new users make a deposit to our account.....In order to by past the anti-fraud system the deposit is a little under $1000 dollars, then a few days later a withdraw request comes trough for that same user the user hasn't traded on the exchange but used the exchange to store money, then withdraw at a later date.

As we don't charge a fee to our users to deposit or withdraw funds on our exchange this would be an incentive for fraudsters to frequently use this services and its then this could be determined as a 'fraudulent deposit'  the bank red flags the activity and the activity is passed on to AML. (i believe this is what Tadehill is facing currently..... then again i could be wrong you will have to wait for there reply to this matter.)

In light of this..... and its not the only reason for doing the following, we had to re-set our Withdraw and Deposit Limits to deter such activity.

.....***Your done***....... we would anticipate the funds to be available within 1-2hrs on our exchange. (or instantly everything going well)

There is an API for redeemable codes that should help you making this instant, just let me know ( admin@mtgox.com ) if you need any help with this.

Thanks Magical Tux ill let you know when I'm ready to go.

try https://www.worldbitcoinexchange.com for AUD

they are still currently flying 'under the radar' so to speak.

Take a look at our "help" section heading "Account Limits" to see how we operate in regards to this matter.

58  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / accepting MTGOX withdraws and deposits via voucher - LIVE on: September 04, 2011, 08:27:47 AM
Hi Team,

Heres my idea now LIVE... alongside the launch of MTGOX new currency system id like to give MTGOX users the option to deposit funds to World Bitcoin Exchange (wbxAUD) via the MTGOX voucher system.

Heres how it will work

0) MTGOX users will complete a withdraw with in MTGOX using the redeemable voucher feature (requesting the withdraw in AUD)
1) MTGOX users will login/sign up to wbxAUD (its free)
2) Go to our deposit page.
3) Enter the MTGOX Redeemable code (received from MTGOX when you made the withdraw)
4) Enter the Value.
5) Our system checks it.

.....***Your done***....... we would anticipate the funds to be available within 1-2hrs on our exchange. (or instantly everything going well)

So your asking whats the benefits of doing this??? well i will try to explain:

1) Reduced withdraw fees out of MTGOX (currently $10 to withdraw to AUD banks from MTGOX).....would like your comments here.
2) Bitcoin/AUD Arbitrage Opportunities
3) More trading options
4) increased Volume on the exchange.
5) Withdraw to your Australian bank account (free)
6) The opportunity to withdraw AUD from wbxAUD to MTGOX at reduced rates. (technocash charges 3.96% to deposit to MTGOX)

Your comments and criticism are welcome please go easy on me!
