61  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [CONFIRMED] Australian Bitcoin Conference/Expo on: September 02, 2011, 07:29:08 AM
Hi guys,
Some fantastic ideas coming forward Cheesy keep em coming Cheesy

I have had to take a few days to sort some IRL stuff. But fully into getting this up now Smiley

This morning I met with an Event Organiser - had never heard of BTC but "gets the idea" Cheesy
he is useing his contacts to find a good (available at short notice) venue.

Suggestions include forming a "management committee" and dividing work into 2 "fields"  Administrative and Technical - volunteers needed.

Needed urgently is a "Bitcoin Infomercial" - contact me if you have knowledge skills to help with this, I have been given some good ideas on what to include, Suggestions welcome here too.

I envisage some talks by "Keynote Speakers" to be webcast a "panel show" from the keynote speakers and other knowleadgable Bitcoiners, this will need to be streamed live and have an interactive component so non-attendeers can ask questions as well.

We are also planning to have tables and or booths that Bitcoin businesses can hire to advertise thier business but also some general interest tables, hopefully someone can bring a rig down we can setup and mine with Wink again ideas and offers welcome.

We NEED to appeal to the general public, grey suit financial types and ppl already into Bitcoins
This is a great opportunity to get the Bitcoin word out not only in AU but worldwide if handled correctly. We plan to!
I see there is a EU metting planned for the weekend after AU would be awse to get some momentum going for the EU do as well Cheesy

until we get a Bitcoin AU 2011 email and site setup contact graet@ozco.in for further info , offers of help, sponsorship etc
It is early in planning volunteers from the Bitcoin community are needed to make it succesful Cheesy

more to come Smiley

Best
Graet

This is good to see Graet keep up the good work.

I think maybe the only missing piece in the puzzle would be automatic exchange to the merchant's local currency (e.g. USD) to have it be a complete worry-free (regarding exchange rates) solution. It might be interesting to interface with a Bitcoin exchange here.

Hi Jav,

Well done.

I'm interested in completing the missing puzzle (automatic exchange) and adopting your solution into our structure, id be interested to know if this would work with World Bitcoin Exchange, please PM me when you get sometime.

'Price' box looks good.

Impressive to get requested features implemented and live within 24 hours.  Smiley  Just please dont rush and Gox things up! Security and Accuracy when dealing with peoples AUD/BTC.

Hope to see some more volume coming in.

Hi Slothbag,

All new features are put through a testing phase on our dummy exchange before being released to the market on our live exchange, once we find that our requirements have been meet, launching a new feature to market can happen within 24 - 48 hours depending on the scope and complexity of the feature.

We want you to have the best experience when trading on our exchange, we have found the majority of our users come from mtgox, in order for our users to have the confidence to trade on our exchange we have mirrored some features (e.g 'Price Box') so the transition from mtgox to wbxAUD is easy and less confusing.

We agree not to rush things in the future we do pride ourselves on security and accuracy and we will en-devour to not put our users AUD/BTC at risk.

I hoped to have answered your feedback and appreciate all comments, this is what helps our exchange grow.

trade well - Andre

The volume is quite low. Perhaps, and this is only a suggestion, start off without charging any fees, once you have a larger customerbase that would be the time to introduce fees.

Britcoin has been completely transparent with this in that it is waiting for accreditation or something before it can charge customers, and now the volume is high.

Of course, the low volume may be due only to the fact that the exchange is incredibly young, of course.

Hey Sultan,

While we do charge a small commission to pay for server space, bandwidth, programmers, designers, and other costs, this division of the company is not profitable.

The reason for imposing such a commission is that we don't have the level of investors that Britcoin has to pay such costs.

We like to pride ourselves on transparency, be upfront with commission, code and who we are as a company.

We are a young exchange and yes your correct the volume is currently low, the exchange is increasing in activity daily, with a little over 40 users in three day's now and growing, as Australians become more aware of Bitcoin, we have forecasted for the exchange's volume increase within the next 3-6months.

We have had some positive feedback from users please goto the following link https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=37079.msg462831#msg462831

You can currently make Withdraws and Deposits via (EFT) for "FREE" to Australian Residents.

We thank you for your comments and hoped to have answered your questions.

Hey guys, I emailed you about your listing on the GLBSE, I was wondering what the benifits of investing are. Its hard to understand for me the way you explain it.   Is it worth it to invest if you're not in AUD?  Do you give out dividend?

Hey Bitcoin Swami,

Not currently listed with GLBSE only with Bitcoin Markets, we do think it would be good business to offer dividends and shares in our company but trying to understand the structure of GLBSE is confusing.

If any one would like to explain please be my guest.

Awesome.  This is now a great way for Aussies to get into Bitcoin with minimal fees.

Transferred some funds via Direct Deposit, funds appeared on the exchange within a few hours, had traded for bitcoin shortly after.  Trade commission of only 5c-10c is very reasonable.

My only recommendation is the Intersango trade page is bloody difficult to use, would be good if you could buy using price rather than total.

I am glad you like our simple low fee structure, Intersango software is working on the 2.0 version which includes these updates, plus much much more.

If you would like to offer suggestions of improvements to the exchange please do so here.

i just thought of a feature that would be really awesome that so far I've never seen done before..

imagine if you could just click a [TRADE] button next to one of the buy or sell orders to instantly agree to that trade, instead of having to go to the trade page and input all the specifics in detail just to take the other side of someone's offer.

I think we can make this work?

Well done Andre. This is a welcome contribution to the bitcoin world and the Australian community. Until Tradehill began trading in AUD I had contemplated setting up an exchange here myself, but it was more involved than I had hoped. I've never tried moving bitcoin in or out of Tradehill, so I don't know if that solved our liqidity concerns. But It's just fantastic news to have a home grown exchange with EFT support, so rest assured, I'll be there with bells on. Grin

Thanks, I would like to take this opportunity to also thank the Exchanges technical lead Chris More also known as dooglus in the forum, Chris has taken Intersango's basic exchange structure and improved security and user tools ten fold, I am happy to bring this exchange to the Australian Bitcoin Community and hope we can show the Americans we are a force.

Trade well - Andre
