We wanted to launch on the eighth but we ran into some problems and everyone had to go for the weekend, then today we had a problem with the genesis block until about an hour ago. It's now been fixed and everything is ready to go but the main developer is offline so we're going to have to launch tomorrow.
Yeah, but you take 86,8 days worth of mining to yourself as premine while you can't even launch a coin on time. Besides, it's not like you're offering anything new if you're even serious. We're not taking the premine for ourselves, we're using it to fund development and the trips to Africa. We're not contributing anything in the way of technology but we are looking to put the same technology to use in a unique way with potential to help millions of people. If it doesn't work then that's unfortunate but if it does then it will make a real difference in the developing world. lol right.. |

a higher coincap for more features seems fair and would create more demand.
Maybe you should think of some sort of block reward reduction to establish a higher Price on the long run.
Atm 100 coins for all features on all exchanges is way to cheap to achieve.
I like that concept. You created some value with the trader ap.
Its just underpriced atm imo.

Dev: Last Active: July 26, 2014, 10:02:50 This is kinda unacceptable for a active Development anyway. No Release on the 1rst of August nether and no information at all. Thats just poor and a wasted opportunity to create some confidence for the long run. |

I have a purely speculative question to you guys...in the long run, what prices do you thing Octo will achieve? Just curious, since the prices keep fluctuating very much and my market trade history spikes up and down. Regardless...I'm planning on holding my stash of Octos  It may feel like a lot of fluctuation but in reality this is one of the most price stable altcoins that has been around. The price has held steady since the release of the coin in March. That is really good when it's strictly based on a good dev team, an active community and potential success from 8 apps. I haven't seen another coin really stay this stable. I mean it has stayed between .002 cents and a little over a penny the whole 6 months. That's not bad support for such a long time when you haven't had any of the apps released and also had some long moments where the devs weren't posting updates frequently. You also lost a large amount of volume when a well known exchange was robbed of Blackcoins, went bust, sold to new owners and now has disappeared until a recent beta exchange and promise of re launch. I mean Bittrex has done a great job of keeping Octo going the last few months and really turned into a decent exchange while we have been there. When I started buying Octo, I expected to reach and maintain of at least 50 cents to a dollar once you see the apps releasing and updating. I do think there is potential for much higher numbers and if we reach them then great. I buy like they will reach a dollar and that's what my return will be. There have been plenty of coins reach $5-$45 that surprised everyone. Peercoin, Litecoin, Blackcoin, Auroracoin, Darkcoin and Anoncoin are some examples. Granted they didn't maintain these prices forever but it shows that you could have a Darkcoin moment and be selling some of your coins all the way up to $16 and back down to $5 which would definitely be huge gains for us all. You can't count on that but the potential is there. Darkcoin set between 30 cents and $1.50 forever before it's rise. It's a risk/reward basis and I think that Octo will pay off in the long run. Technically at the prices we have bought at it could hit and maintain 10 cents and we all profit 10x plus which isn't a bad investment... We will see soon. Let's just hope we can get some good returns before March of next year so we can all celebrate in Vegas! All in all Octo is very stable...you're right. I've been in the Altcoin-market for 6 months now and I never had such a good feeling about a coin (besides the established ones). I really hope Octo will be a game changer and deliver some great software/apps that give the Altcoin-scene sth. to be proud of...and restore my faith in this great technology  Right now I'm really fed up with most of the Altcoin-scene and "shitcoins" since it's become a total joke! There is so much potential for digital currencies besides only trading it for BTC! Some of it is a joke. Some of it is one and done P n D schemes. But there's a lot of good ideas in the alt scene. Some are great ideas. Some are also poor execution. People get in such a rush and cave to pressure from buyers and investors. I think Octo is different cuz they said from the beginning it wouldn't be a P n D. We have yet to see huge dumps from anyone including investors. Yes there were some minor ones like the one this week and there were issues with the multipools but they have faired through all of those. I think slow n steady n quality will be a winner. Octo has the potential. If you build an ecosystem that is user and business friendly there is always potential. You don't have to be the best or the newest, you just have to have the whole quality package where all the apps work well together. It will be exciting to see how that turns out here. 8,88$ or gtfo.^^ Btw: A timeline is a timeline. With all these runnings Devs atm it would be a huge boost in trust to release an annouced update right on time. Just saying. |

1. Protection from Asik.
2. Fight against inflation.
3. Marketing.

whoa timewarp back to a few days ago! 1. no. There is no protection from asic's, as I've said in the past (you're welcome to search my posts) the use of asics in the long run are actually the protection, not the problem. 2. I agree that we should be cautionary when dealing with inflation, but as someone else has said the best way to combat inflation is further adoption. I fully agree with 8bitcoder's (the dev) comment about NOT changing the block reward. Changing the block reward would set a very bad precedent. 3. We don't necessarily need marketing, but we definitely need the information to be readily available, and clear. Again, feel free to search my posts or go to the top of this page to see my opinions on that. cool man, cool. Even doge and ltc getting dumped like hell because of all this asic hashpower and mp swapping pools. So why not going in the pos direction ? Scrypt is a dinosaur anyway imo and there are prolly some test fpgas already for x11 and cons. So pos & Pot could be an option. This is easier to realise then mass adoption overnight. lol Just get rid of scrypt atleast. RDD more then doubled the price after the announcement of PosV. 500Mhash Scrypt Miner already incoming and they will dump as long as its been profitable and do some serious bloodbath to a lot of coins before dif raise can compensate that. |
