1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitcoin Powered Heating System on: November 05, 2014, 12:12:55 PM
I asked a similar question to this in October when the C1 was announced.

Unfortunately I have NO technical knowledge, but thought that with the C1 already being watercooled there could possibly be a way to connect these to a water central heating system? Plan was to buy 3 of these and then in theory the whole house would be able to stay at a steady 18 degrees throughout the winter.

Like I said though, no responses so i'm keeping an eye on this thread.

Good luck

Could these be linked up to hot water radiator system?

Thinking of buying 2 but if this is possible then 4.

Unfortunately I have no idea about plumbing so is this possible, and if so easily done?!?
3  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer U3: Decentralization continued. Order now, Ship on Nov. 5th on: October 21, 2014, 01:23:24 PM
The 'Scalable' and 'Hassle Free' comments contradict each other in relation to a single set-up.

Which is it for a single miner?

And, if it does need a controller PC just for one unit, then what is the point?
4  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer U3: Decentralization continued. Order now, Ship on Nov. 5th on: October 21, 2014, 07:47:38 AM
Does this use a web UI like all other Antminers or can it only be used with a direct connection to a Rasb PI or PC??

If Web UI then I will order a box, as could have one running in each room as a small heater for the winter.

Any plans to allow S3 coupons to be used? (would rather use coupons on this, seeing as S3's are more expensive now than they were in August even with a coupon lol).

Thanks
5  Economy / Digital goods / Bitmain S3+ Coupons FOR SALE on: October 17, 2014, 12:45:35 PM
Hi guys,

I have 20 coupons in my account, i'm going to use 10 and sell the remaining 10, so these are for sale if anyone would like them.
As your probably aware, each coupon is worth 0.0325 off the value of a new S3+.

0.0199 each or 0.17955 for all 10.

Send me a PM if your interested.

Thank, Stephen

So frustrating ......luckily I only had about 1 Btc left on the site, but this was due to finish on Saturday!
I withdrew $118 dollars in September, so only about a $300 loss but still a bit of a kick to the teeth.

To be honest I probably would have reinvested, but very frustrating as I was so close to a possible withdraw.

Feel very sorry for all of you guys who stand to lose a lot more than me....one of my clients at work (who recommended the site!) had £20,000 invested so i'm hoping that he managed to diversify or withdraw!!

I'm feeling slightly less bitter as I have been lucky with my multi-arbitrage account (up 0.5Btc) so overall I am probably only slightly down in fiat terms.

Any one have any recommendations for an alternative site that offers a similar service but without the risk of a scam?!?!
7  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: October 15, 2014, 12:33:16 PM
Hopefully it will remove the cost of shipping for those who have ordered previously......although I doubt it!

Still don't understand the cost though i.e. Batch 11 v Batch 9

2 units (delivered to UK):-
Batch 9   cost 1.160 Btc, at $500  =  $580
Batch 11 cost 1.663 Btc, at $397  =  $660

So, they are making more money today per S3 than they were over a month ago despite the fact that there product has lost value (gone from being slightly profitable to loss making for the majority of users).

Cost should be a maximum of 1.46 Btc ($580/$397) assuming same dollar equivilent cost.

BITMAIN - any explanation?
8  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: TECHNOBIT support tread + customer feedback- 800 Ghs enclosed miner -399 EUR on: October 03, 2014, 12:33:05 PM
Shame about the power efficiency being poor (compared to S3 etc).

Would love to buy from a European company instead of Chinese, especially as no need to pay any import duty (20% for products imported from China to the UK).

Hope that your next miner will be more efficient and then I will definitely buy some from you.

All the best! Stephen

So what makes you think it should be less than $400? People like you years ago made fun of bitcoin and said the same crap.
Who said about less, buddy?

I agree with you!! Smiley Smiley

I'm glad the trolls who can't math agree with each-other. My recommendation Sally & Rabin is that you each buy 2 S4s immediately before Batch #1 sells out! You're absolutely right, Bitcoin will be worth an incomprehensible sum of $local_currency in the future! And you are too terrible at math to realize than rather than being a millionaire with X million, you will only have .75*X million. But you know what? That's okay, because you'll still be millionaires, and that's all you'll see, and that is probably enough.

In the meantime, we have irrational actors running a substantial percentage of the Bitcoin network, like Sally and Rabin over here, who are a substantial part of the reason why the hashrate (and thus the network difficulty) continue to go up at a break-neck pace despite the profitability per-coin-mined going down. And irrational miners are the reason why the hashrate will continue to trend up at such a substantial rate. So buy your S4, buy two. Mine 'till your heart's content, it makes things tougher on reasonable miners, but not substantially. And you'll have spent far more time, money, and energy getting to where you end up than I will have, and you'll still have fewer Bitcoins than I. So I'm cool with that.

Great post!!!

A little harsh on wannabe miners (like myself really) who want to get in on the mining game, but, definitely justified in relation to the crazy price of the S4.....although for me it would be .35*X million due to shipping, import duty and high electricity costs! Wink

Crunching the numbers - even at a reasonably optimistic 10 % difficulty steps, this will lose a miner -3.239 before it becomes loss making/obsolete on the 6th February at $0.15 per kwh.

If paying $0.12 per kwh you would lose -2.887 by the 5th March, or at $0.10 per kwh a loss of -2.604 on the 14th April.

These depressing stats are based for you lucky boys in USA who have no import tax........for me in the UK the machine would stop being profitable on the 15th December!!! And would cost me a loss of -4.559 (original cost of -4.987 including shipping and import tax!!!).

DEPRESSING!!!

Anyone who has had a look at the colocation offer (saving a large amount of money due to the minimal shipping charge) this works out at a loss of -2.577 come the 5th March, at which point the hosting fee ($0.125 averaged over 6 months) would become more than the income generated per day.

So, unless you had free power why would anyone be buying these??? Even with a discount code these still lose a minimum -2.377 bitcoins and are obsolete in 6 months and one week from now!

Basically, after crunching the numbers, these need to be 0.91 Btc per unit to be in with a chance of just making a ROI (unless power is < $0.10 per kwh). Obviously, this price is unrealistic as shipping needs to be paid and Bitcoin need a price of atleast 1.5 Btc per unit to justify not becoming another Bitfury and keeping them all to themselves.....but the current price of around 4.16 Btc (including shipping) shows just how much they are trying to take advantage of people that may not fully understand the way the mining game works as this sales price is a 357% mark up on the 'break even price' for people that don't have any import tax to pay......the bitcoin world has gone mad, and unfortunately I think that the hobby miner is officially dead.

Buy coins and pray  Roll Eyes

So.....anyone have any idea how much shipping will be for this!!

Doubt I will buy, for the reasons that most people are saying....but it's nice to dream!

Hi Ian - don't suppose you have a link to where it says that the 1 year contracts will be upgraded?
I had a look in my account area and i haven't received any notice on there or in my emails.

Thanks,
Stephen

Hi Stephen.

It was something that was posted in the forums.
I believe on Facebook too.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=602022.msg8763406#msg8763406

Your contract doesn't change to lifetime until the day your existing one ends.

Ok, cheers Ian. If I can get within $50 of a ROI, which might be achievable in about a years time (espeicially if there is a nice increase in BTC & Script prices) then I will be happy lol.
13  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: September 25, 2014, 01:17:37 PM
Strange that it would disappear.

Normally even after selling out they stay listed for a week or two.
14  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 2TH/s, Batch 1 on Sale this week, shipping before Sept. Ends on: September 25, 2014, 01:13:39 PM
One aspect that I like is the $200 coupon for existing S2 owners, with the intention to still have an upgrade in future (S6 kit?).

Although, this price should be the base price for everyone to be honest. Then this would be worth a gamble to some, rather than an instant 'no thanks' at the current prices.

BITMAIN - Please rethink the additional postage charge  at the very least!
15  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 2TH/s, Batch 1 on Sale this week, shipping before Sept. Ends on: September 25, 2014, 01:00:38 PM
OMG.....literally cannot believe Bitmain!

We all thought that the price was taking the piss yesterday, but now they say that this doesn't include shipping!! ha ha ha.

Are they actually going to sell any of these outside of China?
16  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 2TH/s, Batch 1 on Sale this week, shipping before Sept. Ends on: September 24, 2014, 12:16:48 PM
Unfortuanately, if they wait much longer not only will it be annoying but more importantly if shipping is delayed by the same amount of time i.e. two weeks these will be even harder to make any ROI   Huh

ANOTHER UPDATE

So, my Btc balance finally passed the 1 Btc threshold and I requested a withdrawl at 12:45 UK time. Looked at my wallet at 3pm and it was in there!!

I really do think that the opening poster should change the thread title, as I have now been able to withdraw all of my earnings and my original stake (except the 0.016 as only whole numbers are able to be processed as mentioned a couple of weeks ago).

Anyway, if the crude web interface is overlooked they do seem to be a good website, and not a con as previously stated.

Thanks,
Stephen
19  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 2TH/s, Batch 1 on Sale this week, shipping before Sept. Ends on: September 20, 2014, 11:24:46 AM
Bitmain are probably waiting for the Btc price to rise back to $450 before they announce pricing and specs.

Ironic that by mining with the equipment themselves and selling on the majority of coins mined in there super farms they are devaluing the coins. Would probably make more money by having smaller mining operations themselves and selling the stock to the public, as at least most home miners tend to hold onto a percentage of coins mined, which in turn helps to add upward pressure onto the Bitcoin price.
20  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: September 15, 2014, 10:17:41 PM
Leaves a bit of a sower taste that someone who orders on the 19th will receive within a day or two of someone that ordered beginning of September.

Weird choices made by Bitmain

Actually ... I'd say weird choices by those placing pre-orders.

M

If there was any other option then I and most other people that want reasonably reliable, small footprint and cost effective hardware ($50 less per unit would be nice though!) would take it.

I'm guessing you know of another miner that has a similar price point and price per buck that is available from stock then?
