Will you be showing a map and pictures of the 100 locations? When does the ISK exchange go live?

We are making a time-laps video of the campaign. Can´t promise we do all the 100 sites but close to it. Isk exchange goes live in a week or so but the beta fase is open and we have over 100 ppl that signed up for that.

We will get you updates on different aspects of the adoption plans as soon as they are reveled and finished.

We are making a time-laps video of the campaign.HuhHuhHuh? blah blahh blah

Was there a date in that comment?

The video is being processed and it will be posted when finished.

To be honest with you, this kind of naive attitude like you have been displaying here plainly strips me of any desire to publish this video and just to have any kind of reporting here at all. I can't speak for other members of our dev group but personally I just post here in hope to engage with a community with the same interest and passion for cryptocurrencies as I have and is more from respect to the community here rather the need for it for Auroracoin's success. But when the only response from people here are of the selfish naive nature I would expect from my 4 year old son and a complete disrespect of the time and effort that I and others are putting towards this project then I stop seeing the purpose and usefulness of this forum.

The guys in iceland knows better, but I think we will get newspaper covering not long after May 1 - and from there we expect multiple media attention. There is very good things brewing that we can't disclose yet (media related) that would give auroracoin very good coverage and credibility.

Outside Iceland, medias are contacting us. At first i was proposing paid press release/article, but it is now obvious that it is worthless. We will get full coverage without asking anybody.

Where is all this? I can not see anything.

I am not talking about one or two newspaper, multiple media attention?

Where is the Saturday TV interview? Also, Where is the video about the but stop campaign? I have not seen a bus stop right in the city centre, all are in isolated area with no passenger, I like this coin to succeed but we can not talk without evidence as you lose credibility and people will think is al white smoke. You need to show to the world you mean what you are saying. Only words are not valid. Need to be backup with events and facts.

On top of this we have been interviewed with channel 2 news and visir.is / fréttablađiđ and those interviews are still to be aired.

there are also more media exposure in the pipelines that will be revealed later and yes it is bigger than all above.

Video
here is one bust stop:)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_BRAl7LcT0

Other bus stops. We have raw video files that were taken of the bus routes. It has not been edited into a time laps video. Anyone here want to take on the job?

Also it has been 6 days since we opend the exchange, 9 days since fork and multi algo.

Since ISX exchange open we have had 431 new users plus 120 from the beta = 551 total unique users. Only way to register at exchange is through island.is and no one can have more than 1 account.

We are very happy how things are going and will continue with our plan. There will be more news this month but all that is being worked on will be revealed once it is done.

We all know about those links.

You spent lots of money to do the bus campaign and you don't  or cant put all those videos together? you spent all this money and you can not show it?  Sorry bit disappointment and let down. Please be serious if you like people to take you serious from now on.

You are not organised, you do a big campaign for nothing. If you can not see it, It did not happen!

Well just in case you missed my post answering your original question about this then you can read that on the previous page. If you already did then I think you missed the whole point here. The bus stop campaign wasn't for you, it was for the Icelandic public which actually happened to see it so it really did happen for them.

So the fact that you didn't see yet! a video that I took a full day off work to prepare and then paid someone to drive around the city to shoot because I couldn't take another day off work to do, does not mean that we are not organised nor that the campaign is for nothing. What it means is that we are short of hands (I don't see a lot of people here jumping in to help) and we prioritise our work (organising it) and to provide you with this video has lower priority than attending to promotional work here in Iceland where people will actually be using the coin as a currency and are likely to help with the project. Leading to new pair of hands that are actually contributing to the project. That does not mean you will not get to see the video, it just means that there were other tasks were executed first.

This webpage from landsbanki says i as a foreigener can open a bank account in iceland

https://www.landsbankinn.com/personal/faq/

Is this true?

Yes but you need a social ID that is given specifically for that purpose and you need to be present here in Iceland to get it. Fairly standard I would guess.

"social ID" = "kennitalia" ?!?

Yes. "Kennitala" is your birthday example 12   Month example 05 and year example 93 than 4 extra digits ending with the decate you were born so standard kt =120593-2549

So I show up in some official place in Rejkjavik and request a kennitala (as a foreigner) for opening a bank account and they will issue one and put it into the database with certain properties that will allow me to use it for opening an account with one of your banks?

I think the application goes through the bank, the bank makes a special application for you for the purpose to create a bank account. You of course need to show a passport fill out and sign a money laundry statement etc. and I think you will then need to revisit the bank a few days later when the ID is ready and you can finish the process.

To the speculators on this chat:

Contrary to almost all other digital currencies, Auroracoin is primarily meant as a medium of exchange (transaction money). Hence, we need fewer speculators and more users. We will unavoidably disappoint the former, as all our activities are designed for slow adoption and growth, avoiding hype and price swings.

Auroracoin is a long-term project that aims to replace the ruined Icelandic monetary system with something better. As such it will have international ramifications if successful, but until then is best left to the Auraráđ Foundation and the Icelandic people. The Auroracoin awareness campaign that has recently begun will stretch over many months, and be followed by field-adoption activities over the next year or so.

We neither need nor want to prove anything to the outside world until we have adoption success to report. In fact, the less international attention the better, so as to keep the AUR/ISK exchange rate in check to facilitate adoption of Auroracoin among Icelanders.

Who are you? You speak like you work closely to the dev team

god.aur does work closely with the Auraráđ foundation. He is both a member and contributes extensively of his time and resources.

Great.

I have no expectations of any of you guys but I would like to know more about the big banks in Iceland and the foundations relationship with them up until now and into the future.

What relationship?

The foundation doesn't have any relationship with the banks for the exception of having a bank account for normal operations and I don't see the foundation having any kind of relationship with any of the banks unless they would start to work towards Auroracoin adoption which I think is very unlikely.

@Skarfur What time does the exchange opening daily in iceland?

What do you mean by when does it open?

The exchange is naturally open 24/7 but deposits and withdrawals in Króna are limited to 9:00 - 21:00 on bank days because that is a limitation of our bank system here.

Sorry to say guys but our main focus is not providing evidence for people here on BCT. We have had tons of requests from users since we opened up the exchange and started to have articles in the papers and news sites and spent a lot of time to handle that and to meet people.

You will not see mass adoption to Auroracoin in a week or a month this is more likely to take a year or two to get decent widespread adoption if you want to be realistic. Of course people outside of Iceland matter in all of this and it will be good to have a live foreign market with Auroracoin but again that is not our main focus and I don't see many people jumping in here to help. I nor anyone on this dev team has any obligation to anyone here. Nobody here is trying to sell or promising you anything. We are all with our day jobs, family and we donate a lot more of our time than we have to this project because we believe in the tremendous social benefits of a cryptocurrency project succeeding. If you like that idea and you like to contribute to this project in any way it's great but if you consider Auroracoin to be some sort of stock that you invested in and expect the group of people here that is donating their money and free time to try and make this project a reality to owe you something, then you are barking up the wrong tree.

I don't know if I sound rude here or not but that's certainly not my intention but I (just like others on working on this project) have reduced my real life work and I cheat my family of time to work on this project because it is something that I passionately believe in and I feel that if we can get enough people involved we can really make a difference in a push for a change. So it sometimes buzzes me a bit when people here act like I owe them something.

The video you mentioned has been recorded. I personally paid someone 1.000 AUR to record it for me because I didn't have the time. It has not been edited because frankly there hasn't been enough time as we are being drowned by work on the exchange, requests from people, we are organising a meeting and other events along with all sorts of development like merchant tools, new wallets, basecode cleanup and updates, website work, foundation work and just a whole lot of other work that needs to be done. Currently we just have so many hands and that is why we are focusing on people here in Iceland as we want to get more people to be really involved and to take part in all of this.

Regarding the TV news video then it was supposed to be shown on Friday but was delayed because the news schedule was packed. I got a message from the reporter saying it would be shown during this weekend but he didn't specify a day. Then as it turns out the weekend news were packed with drama in the upcoming president election that will take place in a couple of months so I wasn't surprised that it wasn't aired during the weekend. I'll contact the reporter today to see when it will be aired or if it will be aired at all. Remains to be seen and we will certainly let people here know if it will be aired and provide a link to it for those who are interested.

Again I truly don't mean this as a rude gesture towards people who are following the progress here, I just felt like I had to straighten out a few things. Smiley

Isnt 1% ISX service fee abit much, So If I want to sell 1000 Aur I need to pay 10 Aur to do that, or is it only for withdrawals Huh

The 1% is the trade fee. There is now withdrawal fee.

The reason for the high fee is the high cost to run the exchange. It requires quite a lot of servers behind it for redundancy and security and for obvious reasons we are hosting the exchange in Iceland and server resources here are quite expensive.

We plan to lower the fees and create fee levels when the exchange starts to make enough to cover basic costs.

Getting close to 50% of the daily volume on ISX. http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/auroracoin/#markets

It's picking up nicely.

I think it will dwarf the volume on bittrex soon.

How do I become a citizen of Iceland? ;-)

Here you go molecular

http://utl.is/index.php/en/icelandic-citizenship

So, you have to live in icland for 7 years and right after that you can start to trade on isx.is!)

You can also just come here in 1-2 years and have money to spend! How about paying for your hotel, flight, and all restaurants in 2 years with Auroracoin.

That sounds like a very good way to use AUR and to get more of it circulating in the Icelandic economy.

Probably some other spin offs too, such as a possible increase in tourism and other/additional money spent.

The important thing is to get AUR circulating in the Icelandic economy. If the Icelanders use it, then tourists can use it. Then it can be accepted for exports, and finally might be accepted for imports. High volume on the ISX might not really be the best indicator of AUR being used without exchanging it for ISK.

I agree on that. Take Bitcoin for example, it has decent volume but it's estimated that only about 5% of that volume is caused by real business transactions. The other 95% is just market trading/speculation and a gateway for other cryptocurrencies. So clearly volume is a poor indicator if a currency being used or not.

However a good supply on ISX and a decent volume would be more likely to stabilise the price which is a big factor. It's important that people can safely assume AUR has a certain value in their daily use. While AUR is volatile it creates uncertainty and makes it more difficult to use. So for that reason good volume and supply would help.

TV interview is saturday right ?  I would suggest someone record - add subtitle and share on youtube.

Is it an important TV channel and at what time?

I am hoping to see a massive pump in price over 150 000 sat within the month, if all this marketing doesn't do it I don't know what will.

There is only one thing that can create a decent sustainable price and that is real adoption of the currency. We are just starting down that road and though we are getting a lot of attention now it will take some time to get people to use it and for the economy to evolve. I would keep all hope of a quick gains here in moderation.

I'm very interested in your thoughts on the ISX exchange draining the Bittrex action? ISX exchange does ISX->AUR and Bittrex does BTC -> AUR how do you envision such a thing occurring? Also, in a globalized market how does the team expect to have AUR only for Iceland? How will "foreign" AUR be "imported" just for the sake of Iceland?

Getting close to 50% of the daily volume on ISX. http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/auroracoin/#markets

It's picking up nicely.

I think it will dwarf the volume on bittrex soon.

Don't know. There is place to grow in each market. Ultimately, AUR will flow to Iceland, but way to go. In the next months, there will be some challenges, and already great solutions being discussed. One of these challenges is how to get AUR back to Iceland ?   There is already a lot of AUR in Iceland, but we don't know yet how many will actually hit the market. So foreign aur will somewhat need to be ''imported''.

From then, i guess ISX will drain Bittrex action / lets work toward this !

Well just like with Bitcoin there are enough Auroracoin for the whole world in fact. We don't have anything against foreign markets and that a part of the economy exists outside of Iceland. The thing is that we are just focusing on education and adoption of Auroracoin in Iceland not abroad to create a real cryptocurrency economy in a small area. Foreign markets are more than welcome to the economy and in fact are important in any economy.

Take the Icelandic Króna for example it has no markets abroad. The only entity willing to buy ISK is the Icelandic central bank. Not a single entity in the rest of the world would even consider accepting ISK as payment for anything. This puts Iceland in a difficult position as we constantly need to export for more value than we import so we are able to have some currency reserves. This is a very unstable situation and if something disturbs this balance and we would empty our currency reserves, we would have to limit import and could have problems paying our foreign loans.

So like I said. We have nothing against foreign markets and are happy they are there. We have only just claimed that we are not serving these markets right now as our priority is to get Auroracoin adopted in Iceland.

Can a person from Iceland to transfer his auroracoin from bittrex to ISX exchange?

Also, will the selling price will be more or less the same in ISX and bittrex?

Anyone can send their Auroracoins anywhere they like. Iceland does not hold any limitation of cryptocurrency usage.

The price is likely to have some kind of balance but not necessarily. For example now the price in Iceland is going up and is equal to 69k sat. However there is limited amount of bitcoin flowing in Iceland so it's not sure that interested people will be able to acquire enough bitcoin to take advantage of the arbitrage.
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: AURORACOIN - Empowering Financial Freedom on: May 04, 2016, 03:32:27 PM
The 3rd biggest newspaper in Iceland http://www.dv.is/

http://www.dv.is/frettir/2016/5/4/opnudu-kaupholl-fyrir-auroracoin-i-dag/

There are also other interviews that have been done but not published yet, which is good as it's better to get a slow and steady exposure.

The registrations to the ISX have been beyond expectations and people are starting to do some slow testing. Trying to deposit, withdraw, buy, sell etc. and things have generally been going well.

Both ISX and Auraráđ are getting a lot of request from people who want to know more, use coins from their paper wallets, have new ideas and like what we are doing.

So all in all things are rolling slow and steady upwards like we hoped. Smiley

So what is the best Algo for GPU ?? or rather which algo is for Gpu

Can somebody also explain how this multi algo thing works  Huh

Well the algos for GPU are qubit, groestl and skein. Which of them are best I can't say. I guess that depends on your hardware, difficulty and mining software.

The way multi-algo works is that these 5 different algos that are being minded find blocks randomly between them. They each have their independent difficulty which is affected by the hash rate provided on each of these algos. This leads to a more stable and secure blockchain as well as offering people different options to mine the coin.

While you wait for our time-laps video of the bus campaign, here is a soothing video of auroracoin and and the sunset  Smiley

https://youtu.be/K_BRAl7LcT0

Very nice Smiley

But not a single passenger waiting in the bus stop? I did not see a single bus stopping there just a car instead.

People do not take buses? Smiley

Well this is a very remote place and I chose the place because it's remote and you can get a clear view of the sunset without any buildings in your way. The second factor is that the recording started maybe at 22:00 and finished some time past 23:00 so naturally there are not many people taking a bus at that time in this remote place. There were a few buses that went past though but not sure if they can be identified in the video as they were caught maybe in one or two frames when they drove past. The camera was set to one picture every 2 seconds.

What is the official github link? Seems like I am a wallet version behind.

https://github.com/aurarad/auroracoin

The wallet is up to version v2016.04.1.0 but the only change from 03 > 04 was a bug fix that occurred during import of paper wallets. Beside that nothing has changed.

Cool. I'll update once the algo profitabilities have normalised. So far, I think I've solo mined enough AUR to experience this!

Well I could definitely advice anyone who hasn't been here to have a visit. The attractions just depend on what you are really looking for. If you like to have something different to eat while here you should eat a sheep head and some rotten shark. Smiley

We gave the dutch guys some rotten shark when we were there for a visit the other day and it seems that they felt so violated that they have buried the memory so deep that they claim they have no recollection of this fine cuisine.

So if that doesn't shout out "I really like to try that shit" then I don't know what will.

Super! I'll find you a nice fat looking ammonia smelling piece of rotten shark and we'll see where fate takes us from there.

Thanks.
So 1 wallet per algo?! Weird.. I think in Saffron (first to use 5 algo chain), one could mine vs single wallet with all supported algos :/

Aaaaand... which wallet is latest? the one from http://auroracoin.is/?

The latest wallets will always be available on http://auroracoin.is which is the official site.

There will be an english site as well but it's still being worked on and we hope to open it soon.
