21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Eth 2.0 can be delayed to 2024... on: July 15, 2022, 05:02:09 PM
It seems the merger will start on august 2022 and end on september 2022, nothing was said about the day they will unlock the millions of eth that has been locked since 2020. The merger will contribute a lot for the huge crash that is coming between september 2022 and march 2023 and that is what I predicted since 2020.

Hehe well at least it will be less boring than now, waiting patiently for this huge crash and get some nice buying opportunity.

IMHO the 6700XT is a better deal. They are newer, more energy efficient and have more mem,
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Eth 2.0 can be delayed to 2024... on: July 05, 2022, 10:03:20 PM
Cardano is a valid competitor of ethereum and perhaps will manage to take it second place on coinmarketcap, the announcements and proclamations of the imminent release of eth 2.0 and pos may have been obviously premature given the various tests of doubtful success so the delay until 2024 is plausible, possible to the delight of all miners

Premature? They have been announcing POS since 2017  Cheesy

25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How bad can it get? on: June 19, 2022, 10:34:07 PM
Below 10K for BTC is the time to start investing if you want to target the next bull cycle down the road in a couple years or more.

We do agree on one thing. POS = Piece Of Shit..
In the last month the price of ethereum has fallen -70%. With POS ethereum would be 70% less secure, but with POW the hashrate is almost the same. POW is using alot of energy, but prevents rich countries like China, Russia, Usa to enforce a killswitch in the network.. With the currently suggested Ethereum POS model they only need to buy 8% of the supply and replace the butterin code with the silent army code..

...then they kill ETH and make then BTC bleed to hell...

26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1070/1070ti retirement on: June 19, 2022, 03:27:54 PM
After 5 years of stirling service and a lot of modifications I'm retiring my rig of 8 x 1070's.  My remaining 2 rigs, each with 8 x 1070ti's are running at around break even so will keep them spinning a few more months, at least until the Australian winter is over.
I have special software that can enhance the profit of old Pascal/Turing mining rigs. Send me a PM if you're interested. I already doubled profit on my Tesla P100 rig, keeping it operational instead of having to sell.

Care to elaborate more on that "special software"?? I find it VERY curious that you could want so PM about that, sound very fishy.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: It is now that is decided who is going to win and who is not (mining) on: June 19, 2022, 03:25:48 PM
Indeed... Im mining BTC with my GPUs (well you know, I mine ETH and am paid in BTC). Only things that counts for me is BTC. I don't care about what is going on, but right now I have more BTC/day vs a month ago. Cheesy
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How low can BTC go this time around on: June 17, 2022, 05:17:05 PM
Last 2-3 I was under the impresion that BTC would tank to previous 2017 ATH, but I was thinking it could take WAY more time than that. Bear market is still not really there and we are already at that level, so 10k-15k maybe?

One thing for sure, I think we will have plenty of time to buy the bottom, it could stay flat 10k for a whole year I think.

I want to buy BTC, but really not in an hurry.
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum Will Not Devalue To Zero on: June 17, 2022, 05:10:00 PM
Ethereum is pretty much doomed for now, because of their goal to switch to POS and here is why:

1) POW create an economy, they will lose that.

2) If the switch fail, because of a bug or security flaw or whatever: it will drop big time.

3) If the switch succeed, investor like to sell the news so: it will drop big time.

4) When the switch is completed, are those locked ETH will come available and there will be a selloff for sure.

But of course it will not go to zero  Roll Eyes
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Vitalik Buterin sets date for Ethereum’s Merge on: May 27, 2022, 05:43:26 PM
My advice is much simpler than that:

SELL ALL YOUR GPU NOW!!

Hehe ehhe he
I think you are too late with your advice. In my country, prices for some video cards fell by 50% in 3 months and there are no new buyers on the market. And then there will be even more video cards on the market. So many gamers don't exist to buy this.

I wonder if in 2 months today would not be too late ?? Wink

I can be way more uglier than now.
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Vitalik Buterin sets date for Ethereum’s Merge on: May 24, 2022, 02:48:13 AM
btc crashed below electricity cost, so I'm waiting for that
I looked at this graph. Bitcoin mining revenue never dropped below the power cost, assuming 5˘/kWh, even with a Bitmain S9j ASIC with downclocked firmware 11 Th/s @ 750w. Mining farms were able to scrape by during the 2019-2020 bear market, especially if they had a more efficient Whatsminer M20S or Antminer S15/17. They weren't able to pay off the equipment, but they could at least pay the power bill. If they couldn't pay the power bill, they would just shut down.

Okay check 18-03-2020, it says 0.07 for 1 THash/s, just one example, in 2020 good asics were around 70 th/s, check this article https://www.advancedmining.io/top-5-bitcoin-asic-mining-gear-for-2020/ , january 2020, profitability on that graph on january 2020 was 0.15 so was double of the bottom in 2020 on march 18, so in that article it said a 73th top of the food chain was receiving 10.50 usd per day, 8.50 usd was power cost and 2 usd was profit, that was double than march 18 2020, meaning, in march 2020 as profitability was 0.07 and january 0.15, meaning profitability in january was double of march meaning that 10.50 usd per day in march 2020 was 50% less meaning, 10.50 / 2 = 5.25 per day, power cost still 8.50$, so $8.50 minus $5.25 = negative profit of around $3.25 when talking about the best btc miner available in march 2020, imagine the worst miners. That is just one example of how bad mining profitability got in 2020 march, yes after that bullrun started in july 2020 with eth, btc only broke through in november 2020 and that was not the only bottom, we had more cases where it was negative profit using the best btc miners available and like I said before, imagine the average to bad btc miners.

well at 7 cent power an s17 in summer 2020 was on the edge of breakeven

right now at 7 cent power an s17 earns $5.90 and burns $3.50

as an s17 pro with good firmware can do 50th and burn 50kwatts a day.

so the farm clears 2.40 daily per s17pro  if the loans are paid and the building is owned.

this is not taking into account paying the help and fixing dead gear.
Lets argue 40 cents a unit so that s17 pro clears 2 bucks.

price would need to go to 21k and stay there. and the 7 cent power miner is at break even.

do we drop this low maybe we do.

My guess is BTC will drop to previous ATH before the last bear market. So that would mean 20k$.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Vitalik Buterin sets date for Ethereum’s Merge on: May 23, 2022, 04:01:43 PM
People are wating for the bottom before they start buying anything, myself included, prices are very expensive yet to what it will become,
What determines pow coins prices are electricity prices
I think the lowest BTC price can go is $20k. I have started buying some of them. I'll save the rest of my cash for buying cheap video cards after PoS.

Energy prices should have no relationship with PoW or Bitcoin price. The number of coins being emitted is always the same. If electricity price increases, network hashrate will fall or grow slower. The only variable is the number of machines on the network.

Speculation determines the price of all coins. Hashrate follows price movements. If the price doubles, the hashrate will at least double, assuming block reward stays constant. We will probably reach a point in 10-20 years when BTC price is very stable, at say $2m, and mining becomes like any other business where the ROI is < 10%/year instead of 40-300% like today. Miners will only make 7˘/kWh while having to pay 5˘/kWh for power. 1.5˘ goes to paying for the equipment, 0.3˘ goes to employees, and the farm owner only gets 0.2˘ in the end.

By then we should have Antminer S39's that do 1500 Th/s each on an 800 picometer or so node.

"What determines pow coins prices are electricity prices" I meant in the bear market as in the bear market it has no hype, speculation or anything that makes any coin to rise. So in the bear market electricity prices means 90% for miners and pow coins.

"Speculation determines the price of all coins. 1.5˘ goes to paying for the equipment, 0.3˘ goes to employees, and the farm owner only gets 0.2˘ in the end."

About the above, while in the bull market yes. Anyway, I'm not buying anything yet, this might be another bulltrap before hehell? 40k might be possible, I'm sure there will be a last bulltrap before eth merge.

Can I receive a satoshi everytime you say that? I would already have a bitcoin since last november  Roll Eyes
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RTX3080 low hashrate on: May 04, 2022, 04:39:40 PM
A RTX3080 non LHR gives me 90MH but now its giving me 70MH I don't know what's the cause of it, I have changed my drivers and also change ro another mining software, I don't know what's next now, maybe I should reflash my hive OS, that's the last thing I haven't done yet.
Show your memory temperature or take a screenshot with Hive OS. When the memory overheats, throttling starts and the video card hashrate drops. Learn how to replace thermal paste and thermal pads.

34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 6800 XT vs 3070 TI on: May 04, 2022, 04:25:09 PM
Buy more 3060Ti or 3070, AMD cards will perform lower once ETH PoW is deactivated, Nvidia works better on other algorithms that's why I make that only very few AMD cards are in my rigs, most cards I have are Nvidia, you can use AMD cards like 6600,6700,6800,6900 to mine Ravencoin and Flux but performance-wise it's not as good as their Nvidia counterparts.

I still prefer AMD for now, even if they perform worse on other algo. Why?

1) They use less watts /MH

2) They are not limited now (no LHR)

3) Who really knows what the future in mining will be? Why trying building for later? IF ETH isn't minable anymore, others coins/algo will be flooded by new hashrate so nothing will be profitable anyway, even on NVIDIA side. At least with AMD they will cost less to run.
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bamboo: New crypto using ED25519 signing keys on: May 03, 2022, 01:28:37 AM
As mentioned we are now the first cryptocurrency to run a full node in browser over WebRTC.

This is pretty big leap -- a big barrier to entry to running nodes is the network setup -- the requirement that one have an externally accessible IP address -- Bamboo no longer requires this. Our vision is to have hundreds of thousands of nodes as literally anyone that has a browser can now host an ephemeral node, no externally accessible IP required.

You can try it out on chrome now at:
https://mrpandabear.org

Good job! That could break some barriers for some people and it would result in a geographically diverse node network: some located and running on each continents.

My advice: You should organize an invitation contest or something to grow your community. + Spread the BMB supply among more users.  Wink

Agree with that, how about an airdrop or something like that with that community fund?
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Using pcie power splitter on rx 6600 cards? on: April 24, 2022, 04:20:49 PM
Hi,

I got a couple of rx 6600 and really love them, they are running cool and trouble free and are very efficient (about 60w each, hiveos says lower, but let say 60w). Right now each cards have his own 8 pins pcie power cable, splitted to connect his own riser. This works flawless.

Only problem I have is it take a lot of pcie cable for the amount of watt really used. Only big PSU have more pcie cable.

I was thinking about using another splitter for the main pcie cable to run 2X rx6600, since they don't take that much juice.

So question is good idea or not?

Same question could apply to my rx 6700xt too, they use 2X pcie 8 pins each and are only using 100w, so problem is worse for the 6700xt.
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 4GB GPUs on ETH on: April 24, 2022, 04:12:52 PM
Those 4GB rx580s are still badass, if you have solar power or free electricity you can still mine Ravencoin, Conflux and Ergo, even Alephium, oh Flux is still there, these altcoins can be very big in future, I won't sell this graphic cards if I have them.

.... or easier ETC
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH merge postponed on: April 15, 2022, 01:59:10 AM
We will have the merger then the bear market then 18 to 24 months after that the bull market.

Hey you forgot to mention the bull trap soon  Cheesy
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can I use Asus ipibl-lb motherboard to mine ETH with an RTX3090 & is it worth it on: April 10, 2022, 01:49:20 AM
Should be okay if you can cool it. btw a 3090 will use 285 or more watts
I can’t believe I overlooked that Cheesy. I was so focused on whether the motherboard would be compatible. Thank you for pointing that out since the power supply says 250W max. By chance would you be able to recommend another graphics card that fits this PCs specs for a plug and play ETH mining setup. Either way I really appreciated your response. Thanks

Oh my... please do yourself a favor and find another hobby  Shocked
