2  Local / India / Re: An Easy way to understand Bitcoin on: September 17, 2022, 09:56:06 AM
i have looked far and wide for a lot of blogs and videos on this topic;
for me personally "whiteboard crypto" has really been the winner.
the style in which this guy presents is really eye catching.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is it possible UST recovered ? on: May 17, 2022, 08:47:22 AM
i dont think UST willl be able to pull back a recovery anytime soon;
with the new revival plan proposed by Do Kwon, optimistic LUNA hodlers are dearly hoping that things will get back to normal.
but I personally feel that's not happening due to the spike in market cap over the past couple of months.
UST has lost too much trust among the community and trust is something very hard to earn back, especially now that people have taken losses.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: German Bank announces to support Bitcoin; says it's important to own private key on: April 30, 2022, 12:28:56 PM
Recently, a famous German Bank (Volksbanken Raiffeisenbanken, Bayern Mitte) has announced to consider offering Bitcoin services. It happened a few days ago already but it’s a very bullish news if you look at 2 facts:

1. All Volks- und Raiffeisenbanken in Germany will be likely to follow and have around 30 millions of customers.

2. How it was announced:

  • All employees will be educated in workshops about Bitcoin, including the most important topics.
  • Andreas Streb, board director, said „sooner or later, Bitcoin will be important for every Bank and every company“, so he suggested to start adopting it as soon as possible because it’s important for him to stay ahead of foreign players or even local startups. In addition he wants to offer a safe, established environment for his customers to avoid the risk to get scammed by shady foreign exchanges or getting hacked.
  • Only Bitcoin will be offered:
„We will only offer Bitcoin, not other Crypto assets. Quite simply because only Bitcoin is really a decentralized blockchain application and from our point of view only Bitcoin offers sufficient security against manipulation. All other crypto assets are not comparable to Bitcoin. Above all, they are not decentralized, but there are companies or business models behind influencing the respective Crypto value.“
  • Most important point: it’s important to own your Bitcoins:
„The most important topic when trading or storing Bitcoin is to be owner of your so-called private key, (secret key allowing access to your Bitcoin). This is where our first considerations were made.
Which trustworthy solutions can we offer for our customers? Many crypto platforms only give limited or no access to private keys because all Bitcoins are centrally stored on behalf of the customer.
[…] Bitcoin centrally stored by platforms is of course an interesting target for hackers. This also counteracts the decentralized storage in the Bitcoin blockchain. That's why we were looking for solutions in which the customer keeps his private key himself and can therefore own his Bitcoin himself.“

It’s a very bullish signal if a board director of a German bank points out what’s important about Bitcoin (education about Bitcoin’s tech, supporting a really decentralized coin (no shitcoins), not your keys not your coins).
We would expect such statements from most long-time forum members, but it’s surprising to hear it from a board director of a German bank.
100% bullish.

It was published here (German), very recommended read (if you translate it): https://www.profil.bayern/12-2021/praxis/bitcoin-wir-lassen-unsere-kunden-nicht-alleine/

This will give Bitcoin a long-term push because of the German bank’s support about it alone and not other cryptocurrencies. It’s very bullish for me in my opinion. Hopefully in a slow but surely, other crypto-friendly banks would also do the same thing.

Here in the Philippines, there are only a few banks who are friendly to Bitcoin (and there’s even one bank named UnionBank of the Philippines who had its own government-regulated Bitcoin ATM). Hopefully more banks would embrace and accept Bitcoin in open arms, but it’s not going to be easy and swift.

Germany is all over the news.
just read an article which read "Germany Drops Plan To Extend Mortgage Term For Tax-Free Sales Of Crypto To 10 Yrs"
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Without banking bitcoins will be work on: April 12, 2022, 08:35:24 AM
Nowadays bitcoin is connected with banking process. If bank not available. People can't change Bitcoin. So coming future it possible for changing this process. Kindly any one explain me. I need to know. Kindly support and give your adivoce. Nowadays banking is connected all country people and change the all country's currency.
Why would people want to exchange their bitcoin for fiat in the first place? That is the main problem that should be first addressed to answer your question. Instead of building a circular economy based on bitcoin, in which people will never again have a need for fiat on/off ramps, they still are trying to exchange a more reliable currency for a less reliable one. I see no reason for doing that, except for them seeking short-term profits or maybe there is the absence of necessary infrastructure or legislation to spend bitcoin directly on the things they need. Anyway, bitcoin is not battling with banks per se, it is meant to replace a flawed and obsolete system of central banks, which is, by meddling with money, artificially causing inflation, cantillionism, and other terrible things that make the poor poorer and the rich even richer. When this system is finally replaced, and we switch to bitcoin, banks will be more competitive and, therefore, more cautious about giving loans that may end up unproductive and cause bankruptcy.

this is just my thoughts, we understand the value of Bitcoin as long as its compared to something which is fiat.
or how else would we comprehend the value of BTC?
6  Local / India / Re: Woman From Hyderabad Loses Rs91 Lakh In Crypto To Cyber Fraudsters; India on: April 07, 2022, 06:43:01 AM

A woman from Jubilee Hills lost Rs 91 lakh to cyber fraudsters who hacked her crypto currency account and looted it.

According to the police, the woman, who was into digital trading opened an account with ‘Binance’, a crypto currency exchange, and invested over Rs 91 lakh.

“A couple of days ago, she found that someone had hacked into her account and transferred crypto currency equivalent to Rs 91 lakh. On a complaint, a case was booked and investigation going on,” Hyderabad Cybercrime police officials said, adding that someone who was familiar with her account balance could be behind the hacking.

Damn, that's a huge amount to lose. I wonder how the woman lost such a big amount because users generally have to undergo 2FA authorization to login and then withdraw the amount.
Even if it's someone who the woman already knows then she would have received the code to withdraw the amount.
Unless she had disabled 2FA from her side which is ofcourse a very bad idea considering she was holding such a huge amount in her account.

Quote
In a separate case, a man from the city was duped of around Rs 30 lakh by fraudsters who lured him into investing in crypto currency business. The victim received a message on phone from a person who asked him to invest in the business and told him to transfer some amount into a bank account.

“Believing the person, the victim transferred a small amount on different instances into a wallet. However, when he was unable to withdraw the profits, he grew suspicious and lodged a complaint,” police said. A case was booked.

Coinshots is a News and Data platform for crypto, this is our first port to BTCtalk, hope you guys like to stay updated. Smiley

Now that's complete foolishness. Why would the person deposit 30 lakhs into a crypto business which he is not aware of.
You said that the vistim transferred small amounts on different instances but an amount of 30 lakhs is definitely not a small amount.
Didn't he verify whether he is able to withdraw the amount just when he had around 10 thousand or something.
That would have saved him a huge amount.

this is something that is happening more often than one thinks. My wife recently got lured into a "get rich quick" crypto scam scheme. They get you to deposit money, then download an app and simply show that balance continually increasing in that app, if you get greedy you deposit more money. Boom! suddenly one day these guy just stop.

8  Economy / Speculation / Re: Btc price moving too much on: April 06, 2022, 01:43:48 PM
The ukraine and russia war has really brought the whole world's eyes to crypto, especially BITCOIN.
the problem I feel, is that government is still not ready to accept crypto and does not have enough laws to contain the crypto widespread. (personally, I don't they can control crypto)
Due to the sudden spread of crypto knowledge BUYs started to take place which got Bitcoin to start its upward movement.
the market sentiment seems bullish, but you never know!
9  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Acoustic Insulation for Mining Rigs on: April 04, 2022, 01:54:51 PM
minimizing the sound generated from the mining rig will be important .
read an article sometime back today on some locals from a new Zealand town complaining and protesting against a new mining company.

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who are the top crypto influencers on: April 02, 2022, 10:52:58 AM
well crypto big shots are definitely CZ, Elon Musk, Mr Dorsey, etc... but I feel one of the biggest and OGs among youtube influencers is Altcoin Daily.

12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Writing down seed phrase: printer ink or pen ink ? on: March 21, 2022, 08:40:38 AM
saving your seed on any kind of mobile app or note on a PC/Laptop is absolutely not advisable.

I personally feel the safest is a diary, but I have had people have an opposite view on this.
but a diary is way better than a piece of paper, I'm sure you have faced the issue of finding an invoice or some paper on which you have written a phone number and now can't find it.
I keep my diary really safe so if you are that kinda person, I would suggest a diary over a piece of paper and please write using a BALL Point Pen
13  Local / India / Re: India Celebrates Festival Of Colors 'HOLI' In The Metaverse on: March 19, 2022, 01:21:35 PM
Lol! I didn't realize that TATA can be so dumb to spend money on such nonsense activities rather than an actual promotion. Possibly they are sitting on some serious amount of cash which needed burning for something! This is utter nonsense to be honest.

I believe it is better to give dividend to their shareholders instead of burning cash on metaverse. This entire imaginary world is a hoax and nothing else! Elon Musk has a better word for metaverse - marketing buzzword!

There is high a possibility of FOMO, I see in this Metaverse entry of TATA.
The metaverse is still just budding. Time will tell.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Avoids De Facto Ban in Europe on: March 19, 2022, 01:08:50 PM
At times i feel, Governments still feel there is someone sitting and operating the BITCOIN protocol.  Grin
They issued the bill to ban proof of work expecting Bitcoin’s protocol to change to proof of stake as I read in some article some time back.
Glad the vote went in the opposite direction of the EU’s expectation.
