It was well played by Newcastle, but they couldn't score, which eventually could cost them the 2nd place if Manchester United wins their game.
2nd place? As far as I know, Newcastle will drop to 4th place if Man United wins the match against Chelsea. 
Arsenal is in 2nd place, no other team can overtake them now. You should count how many remaining matches, EPL only has 1 left matchday.
Today, Newcastle really dominated the match but I can't say they played well when they failed to score and win the match. 3 points should be on their hand because Newcastle has a stronger squad and they played at home. I think their fans will be a bit unsatisfied because everyone expects Newcastle will win with big scores against a team in the relegation zone.
But they could now officially celebrate their qualification for the Champions League 2023/2024. It is now 20 years ago that they took part in that competition for the last time. This is an exciting milestone and maybe only the beginning of a new Newcastle United era.
Yep, it is a great achievement. No one predicted that Newcastle will perform very well this season. Next season, they will play in UCL, I assume everyone expects Newcastle can give a surprise again in UCL.

That was an example of thinking too fast while typing and I was having a look at the table to see how far they will finish the season behind Arsenal and then I typed 2nd... No one predicted it because Newcastle has a team with several unknown players. Or maybe not unknown, but not very well known to the broader soccer audience. I can say that I wasn't aware of most of the names on their team. But when I watched their games I thought this could work out for them. They have become a feared opponent very quickly and the EPL understood that Newcastle is not easily beaten by anyone.
There have been several rumors about some big names considering to join Newcastle, but that is still only rumors. Now everything is prepared for strong players to venture the step to join Newcastle.
