1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: January 21, 2014, 11:00:56 AM
The red led indicates a +12v supply failure.
The 6+2 connectors on some psus have the +2 section wired with +12v and gnd instead of 2 gnds as the sockets on the avalon are using.
Plugging in the pcie connectors with this type of +2 section shorts the +12v bus on the psu causing it to go into an over-current shutdown.
Just leave the +2 section of the pcie connectors unplugged, plug in the 6 pin sections and you should be good to go.

Thank you for that explanation and idea. Sadly it did not solve my problem.

I will go and purchase another PSU, hopefully that might fix the issue.

Any suggestions for a brand and model? I am not in the US but i can get most any brand that is common enough.

2  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: January 21, 2014, 09:11:05 AM
I have a Batch 2 (3 module) that has just had the PSU fail on it.

The dead PSU is the 850w Enermax that came with it.

I grabbed a 1000W Cooler Master that i had sitting around from old GPU rig, and i have tried to switch it out.

The 4+4 cables from PSU are plugged into the White sockets.
The 6+2 cables from PSU are plugged into the Black Sockets.

I have the 20+4 cable plugged into the 24 pin socket.

The avalon will now power up to the degree that i can reach the router inside it, the router connects to the Wifi and has blue light. One of the boards inside has 2 green lights and they both go on.

When i power it up the fans spin for a moment and then stop. Same with the PSU fan, it spins for a second and then stops. The two external lights show me 1 green for a moment, but it then turns to a constant Red.. the orange light is also constantly on.

When i removed the cables from the original 850w PSU i only removed 2 x 6+2 cables from black sockets, but have since found there is a 3rd black socket, so in an effort to get it running i ran another 6+2 to that black socket.... still no love from this machine.

Anyone out there able to tell me what is wrong or what i can try?

I have plugged and unplugged and replugged every cable and several decades ago i used to build PC's for a living, so we can cross that off the list, it's certainly not a poorly seated or lose cable issue. My fingers are nearly bleeding from all this plugging and replugging.

As the PSU is powering the router and lights and fans for a moment, i am working on the assumption that the PSU functions fine, it surely did last time it was powering GPU's

+1 for refund.
Group Buy #2

I think that you should have emailed out to the buyers, rather than us having to find your post days later...

I hope that you will email us all with details how to move forward?

You were perfectly able to send out an email campaign when you announced your payment gateway for the assembly... but this burning hot issue did not warrant an email?

FYI

Today we are starting Two-Factor Authentication beta tests.
.... Google Authenticator ....

What about Yubikey?

We don't plan to add Yubikey support in near future.

The implementation is trivial, and many people have them... If you are really interested in making Coinotron secure, then please consider Yubikey.

8  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: AVALON Scam Accusation thread on: August 01, 2013, 07:52:06 PM
Bump.

Icoin, have you considered sending registered letters of demand to Avalon at their Chinese and Nevada locations?

Can you or somebody please list those addresses.
Avalon failed to deliver 2 machines from batch 2, and refuse to answer emails/PMs/tickets/skype etc.

9  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Instawallet claim process on: July 21, 2013, 02:42:33 PM
The reason for the delay can only be multiple claims for the same wallet: we need to sort things out.
People with wallets under 50 BTC and no multiple claims on their wallets have been paid out.

So how do we proceed with sorting this out?
I have never been contacted by you or your team, i assumed this was a good sign.

When i confirmed there was no indication of any problem, and the payout address was the one i specified when making my initial claim.

10  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC Batch 2 Problem Orders (Bitsyncom PLEASE Help) on: July 14, 2013, 03:42:15 AM
This is complete bullshit, I still did not got my batch #2 unit.
Im am furious. 18. feb order.

Do you have a ticket number you want added to the list in my first post?

11  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: July 13, 2013, 08:34:56 AM
Wow that really suxs if you cant get your unit before they ship batch 3 and the ships out.

You might join my raffle and win my unit!(in hand)

We can not even get them to answer so far.

Seems the only person from batch 2, who had a problem, got his solved by calling Avalon a scam here in the forums. Bitsyncom answered him.

I do not want to have resort to that kind of behavior...

12  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC Batch 2 Problem Orders (Bitsyncom PLEASE Help) on: July 13, 2013, 07:57:09 AM
Change the Subject in Avalon is a scam or something like

I did it and it worked, my 2 units running since today...  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=251130.0

This situation is unbelievable and Avalon should seriously take in consideration all the missing order.

I would hate to think that we have to throw rocks at them, just to get an answer...

13  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon Batch #3 & More on: July 13, 2013, 07:49:22 AM

14  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Avalon Asic] trade-in Thread on: July 13, 2013, 07:48:46 AM
mmm, that's odd guys, I'm pretty sure rudrigorc and allinvain should have gotten emails, I remember sending about 50% of them before having to run off to another meeting earlier today.

care to check store / emails?

also yes, trade-ins are batch #2 prices, so $1600 at current exchange rate. I think the number used was 17.2-17.4ish

BitSyncom will you please address your Batch 2 Problem Orders Thread

Is it only people who call you a scam who will get any attention from you Bitsyncom?

What about the problem orders in this thread

16  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC Batch 2 Problem Orders (Bitsyncom PLEASE Help) on: July 12, 2013, 05:48:03 PM
I added your more recent ticket to the list kjj.
Tickets older than June are almost certainly never going to be answered.

17  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: July 12, 2013, 05:33:19 PM
Anyone from Batch 2 who has a problem with missing order, missing machines or broken/damaged machines.

Please post in this thread, in the hope that we might get an answer.

18  Bitcoin / Hardware / Avalon ASIC Batch 2 Problem Orders (Bitsyncom PLEASE Help) on: July 12, 2013, 05:26:55 PM
I am starting this thread for Avalon ASIC Batch 2 buyers who have some problem or another.

This thread is not for general discussion of Avalon ASIC, this is for unfortunate buyers like myself who have not received their order or who have received only part of their order, or for anyone who has a damaged machine from Batch 2.

So far my own ticket has been open for 9 days.
No word from Bitsyncom or Avalon ASIC team.

If you are also having problems, and you are a batch 2 buyer, please post in this thread.

If Avalon or Bitsyncom are reading this, could you please answer the following tickets.

19  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: July 12, 2013, 05:22:39 PM
Does anyone have a useful means of contacting Avalon?

I have two orders from February 3rd, neither of which is showing in the store.  I also have two tickets in their system, neither of which has been answered.

I waited patiently when batch 2 was delayed for everyone.  But now that they are talking about batch 3 shipping, I'm pissed.

I am in a similar situation.
I received confirmation that my entire order was shipping, but what arrived was 1/2 the machines.

I have tried to contact them via tickets, PM's & email.... 9 days and not a single word from them.

I have started a thread dedicated to Batch 2 Buyers who have a current unresolved problem.

20  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BFL (BF Labs Inc; Butterfly Labs) officially refusing to refund their customers. on: July 11, 2013, 11:24:18 PM
But that's the definition of a scam.  It isn't just: "take a bunch of money and disappear with it all."

Lots of cons and frauds run with some getting return - maybe big return.  That's how they stay in business.

It's called partial reinforcement scheduling.  If you want to keep 50 sheep at the fence, feed two some grain, then stay in sight of all of them, and they'll all stay, hoping they get theirs.

What you are describing is a Ponzi.
A scam is, most often, where everyone gets fucked.

BFL is certainly a Ponzi, and i suspect before too long they will pack up shop and move to Costa Rica, or the FTC will kick down the door and seize everything.

Either way, i feel like i got bent over the table.
