Still on 0.29 by the way.
The main problem is your version 0.29.
It was released years ago. Many bugs are fixed already.
Use latest 0.75:
http://ufasoft.com/files/ufasoft_coin-0.75.tar.xz
I got it compiled, thank you for all your help!

Use following defines
Code:
#define UCFG_BITCOIN_USE_CAL 0
#define UCFG_BITCOIN_USE_CUDA 0

CUDA and CAL IL are obsolete features of the miner. I don't support and test them anymore

Hi,

Still on 0.29 by the way.
I disabled miner-cuda.cpp as UFCG_BITCOIN_USE_CUDA is defined nowhere, disabling CAL just causes me to have more errors, I'd rather not deal with and just keep it in. I noticed that  the CAL uses a pre-build event so it isn't dynamically loaded and should not cause any problems when kept in.

Pre-compiled binary works fine with my GPU (Nvidia GT9800) but my binary reports 0MH/s, doesn't crash tho.
On closing, a lot of BitFORCE threads close and the Win32 thread.

I've been posting a lot of question, I know your time is precious and you're doing this out of free will.
If you'd rather have shut up I understand and I take no offence if you want me to. Prioritizing is important in life, and I rather not feel guilty of causing you to waste time. You can expect a nice donation when I finally compile this tho!

Also, when looking over phatk.ptx (CUDA) I noticed a lot of local paths! Do these have to be present on the computer?
No local paths required at RunTime.
And .ptx can be generated dynamically from .cl file. So it is not necessary to save it as resource.

Hi,

When I compile without adding the .PTC file (extracted from your pre-compiled bitcoin-miner.exe) it seems to fail.
"ERROR 8000716: The specified resource name cannot be found in the image file"

Which has lead me to believe I need NVCC to compile this project correctly (for runtime).
Do I have to add some extra parameters somewhere (like -ptx)?

How would one go about adding them in the RCDATA?
You should have following lines in the .rc file:
Code:
PHATK.CL                RCDATA            "phatk.cl"
SCRYPT.CL RCDATA "scrypt.cl"

Hi,
I extracted the other RCData component (PHATK.PTX, and BTC.IL and BTC-EVERGREEN.IL) from a binary you built, with Resource Hacker.
I then saved them under the correct names (found in resource.h) and added them to the project.
I suppose this isn't the correct way of doing it but it should work right?

Also, when looking over phatk.ptx (CUDA) I noticed a lot of local paths! Do these have to be present on the computer?

Thanks a lot!

I noticed that the resource/RCDATA also contains some CUDA code from poclbm and some other code from Phoenix miner?
When I compile with GPU enabled, it won't seem to add those..
CUDA is disabled by default now because NVIDIA supports OpenCL. OpenCL is common portable language for all parallel platforms.

Please add following define to u-config.h
Code:
#define UCFG_BITCOIN_USE_RESOURCE 0
It means to use external files (from the same directory as .EXE) instead of RCDATA. It is simpler.

Hi,
How would one go about adding them in the RCDATA?

By the looks of it, it seems a lot like linux-only? Is there a windows alternative?
It is not linux-only.  Use any Common Lisp interpreter to generate .il from .lisp files.

BTW OpenCL gives better ferformance that this IL
IL was useful for old generation of Radeons without OpenCL support, HD3XXX...

Hmmm, very strange.

I noticed that the resource/RCDATA also contains some CUDA code from poclbm and some other code from Phoenix miner?
When I compile with GPU enabled, it won't seem to add those..

It tries to start a OpenCL miner, but crashes :/ I'm using the OpenCL libs from CUDA v4.2 and their includes.

Tips/ideas? I have been fiddling with your source for quite some time, I have spend uncountable hours trying to compile this thing, worked late nights and always went to sleep while thinking that the next day I wil get it working. And I'm close, I can feel it! I'm just stuck on this error when running: "ERROR 8000715: The specified resource type cannot be found in the image file" or something like that (it's translated).

I admire your work, you can tell that you're very dedicated to this project. Good job!

Hi,

I noticed that there is a lot of RCData in the binaries.

Yet, when I compile my GPU-enabled binaries I get an empty RCData section?

I noticed that there are some pre-build event labelled "Generating AMD IL CODE" which is disabled by default:
Code:
..\util\lisp gen-btc-gpu.lisp nil >obj/btc.il
..\util\lisp gen-btc-gpu.lisp evergeen >obj/btc-evergreen.il

I'm pretty sure that generated the il_cs_2_0 & for Evergreen and later GPU's

By the looks of it, it seems a lot like linux-only? Is there a windows alternative?

A very rough estimate would be around ~1TH/s.
I have been keeping an eye on the hashrate of some miners on pool, which I suspect to be botnet miners.
I can tell you that I have seen multiple suspected botnet miners reach 60GH/s.

Remember that botnet operators don't pay for electricity. So if a 10000 nodes botnet is idle, better make it generate 10GH/s (assuming 1MH/s for each host with a stealth mining mode not using all the CPU power) than sit doing nothing.

You can go with the estimate of ~3MH/s.
From my analysis, I concluded that number to be the general hashrate.

I honestly don't think so, maybe back when CPU mining was the thing, but now they'd have to infect people with certain model's of ATI GPU's or mining FPGA's to amount to any amount of hashing power.

The big numbers of infected computers compensate the low hashrate.
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why are you still mining? on: December 02, 2012, 05:08:36 PM
A lot of hashing power is coming from botnets (network of infected computers).
Even if the block reward drops, they will keep on mining and making money.

Hi,

I Just got my mind blown away: http://www.ted.com/talks/boaz_almog_levitates_a_superconductor.html

TL;DW:
Quantum locking is a way of storing magnetic energy in a superconductor. This force is so huge, 2mm dish of the superconductor material can carry i1000 kilgram. Seriously cool.

I might buy it!

The program, in what programming language is it written?

The alpha-design looks okay already, I don't like the color and font of the letters below though :/
But hey! It's your personal choice!

Excellent thanks for getting back to me so quickly, Cheers

I updated the above post with a tip which you might like. You might already know but I searched ages for it!

I can provide screenshots on request if anyone would like to see what I made Smiley!
Screen shots are always helpful, I need some ideas on how the GUI's should be set-up and what information/graphs operators like to see the most.

Was your project same idea or just Desktop/website only based? what languages did you use?

Mine was website only based at that moment but I had many plans for it.

I was thinking of adding an option to control it through IRC, so the webserver could just idle in an IRC and I could request updates of the miners.

I also had in mind of creating a simple android application for it, since I was working on an application at the same time then.

This is the miners overview:
http://screensnapr.com/e/wNALjc.jpg

When you click an ID it will lead you to this page:
http://screensnapr.com/e/q5Nknj.jpg

I made an option to mine for multiple pools at the same time so it would distribute the hashrate across them.

I actually have neveradded the option to retrieve the gpu name yet but it's a matter of a few minutes to implent it.
A giant tip: In the registry the following path: (under LocalMachine) contains a lot of information about the GPU: "\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows NT\\CurrentVersion\\Winsat"! I found it by accident, which made me very happy as I was looking for that for a while. Checking if drivers exist should also be pretty easy through checking the registry..

It has that stupid picture as "main" picture when no pictures are in the database yet.

I dropped the project, as I had to set priorities.
It's all done in HTML/PHP/JS/MySQL + C# (.NET 2.0)!
18  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Mining Control Panel & Managment Software (Web & desktop support) on: November 02, 2012, 02:09:34 PM
I've done a similair project but I never got to releasing it!

In my project I built in:
- a screenshot application which would upload pictures to imgur on request.
--> so if the miner-software failed I could pull up a screenshot and see what's wrong!

- I had a command to start a miner remotly, and I stored the PID of the process on the server and client. It was fairly simple to retrieve the hashrate out of the command window, so each 60 seconds it would report in it's hashrate.
--> This allowed me to kill the miner process remotly. The client-sided software used the PID to check if the process was still running. I had fairly simple check statements:
If the process is not running: report to client.
If process is running and it has a hashrate above 0: you're doing fine
If the process is running and hashrate is 0: pull up screenshot + error report! (I also could've added an option to pull out the last 3 lines written in the command line of the miner and add it in the error report)

- In the main panel I could read all information about the computer , it stored each computer by HWID.
--> You have the option to label them with a name, and it stored all information from the CPU's information and the amount of memory on the system to the GPU's name and what drivers were installed.

- I stored information of the pools to mine in a database.
Each computer which wasn't assigned to a specific pool, was going to mine for the fallback pool.
If they were assigned a specific pool, and it appears to be down it would go back to the fallback pool.

I can provide screenshots on request if anyone would like to see what I made Smiley!

I now have disabled namecoin/merged mining, i only care for bitcoin now.

I still need a correct release for bitcoin to run poolservj.

It doesn't matter which release to be honest.

On the PSJ-site under the 'fine tuning' tab you'll find the patch by JoelKatz for a certain bitcoin release which allow more connections to the daemon.
