Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Any chance you will support files up to 20GB in size in the future?

Does the uploading party have to own the files they upload?

Real nice concept - I hope it will be successful.

A few things about the info on the homepage, though:

Code:
All files stored SHA-256 encrypted.

"SHA-256 encrypted" doesn't mean anything - SHA is for hashing, not encryption. Please clarify.

Code:
Each download extend the expirity with 30 days.

Bad English - A slightly better way would be "Each download extends the availability of the file for another 30 days."

Tips? 1ELECeJompinDox61L73eAUyaWpe3Q5HZB

Cool. Could it be possible to upload files via torrent URLs?

It be nice to know how to you calculate how much a download will cost, is it based on size and what is it per unit of measure.

Hi Folks,

Thanks for the feedback.  Smiley

Any chance you will support files up to 20GB in size in the future?

Absolutely yes. We will implement an advanced uploader soon (pause/resume, speed limit, etc). This is a must-have feature before handling large files.

Does the uploading party have to own the files they upload?

The responsibility lies upon the user to not spread malicious, false or illegal material using the service.

"SHA-256 encrypted" doesn't mean anything - SHA is for hashing, not encryption. Please clarify.

You have right. It was a serious typo. All files are AES-256 encrypted.

Bad English - A slightly better way would be "Each download extends the availability of the file for another 30 days."

Thanks for the correction. I changed the content. (As you can see english is not my first language.  Cheesy )

Cool. Could it be possible to upload files via torrent URLs?

Not in the near future. This feature is very tricky with the current infrastructure.

It be nice to know how to you calculate how much a download will cost, is it based on size and what is it per unit of measure.

It's based on size by default but you can charge as much as you want (above the minimum transfer fee to cover our costs).

Seems like your first language is german...

Anyways: How are the keys for the files generated?

Edit:

Example link:
VLC 2.0.4
"Filesize: 21.9 MB (min. fee per download: $0.0213)"
I set the fee to 1 USD...

Hashes of the original file:

MD5: E03F2F24BCA457A35E1E26732AFE4A2F

Typo under "Earn Money", "Receive your it on your Bitcoin address after every download."

And I'm not an expert but I don't think a colon is appropriate here in the FAQ, maybe a semicolon or a separate sentence.

"Bitcoin uses peer-to-peer technology to operate with no central authority: managing transactions and issuing money are carried out collectively by the network."

Of which length and how generated (/dev/random, /dev/urandom, some library...)?!
How and where are these keys stored?

All in all the only thing that this encryption is good for is that if someone gets onto one of your storage nodes, the attacker still needs to break the database with your key(s). All the data can be decrypted without the uploader's knowledge by you and it gets transmitted in plaintext over the net... this leads me to https support: planned?

Also in the end all you do is provide a front-end to AWS... make sure you don't get a high bill because someone writes a script to upload billions of 1 byte files *cough*...

By the way:
I upload a file, don't enter a bitcoin address and close the web page - what happens?! File gets deleted, file gets deleted after 1 week, ...?!

He said AES-256, which means the key size is always 256 bits.

More importantly, where are your keys stored?

More importantly, where are your keys stored?

The secret encryption key is stored in the URL now. Not even us are able to decrypt your files without the key. This is a powerful feature.

videos4btc.info just started to use our API. Very cool example how can you use embedded downloads.

You two I wanted to talk to:
CoinUploads: I wanted to try your service but uploading a small gif fails. Tried another which failed the same way. Both result in a promising progress bar that suddenly resets to 0% and then at 60% again it shows an alert about a failed upload.
All the fuzz around Kim.Com should accept bitcoin got this thing started, huh? Wish you all the luck to get it smoother. A lot smoother. I guess it could be a mega big thing Wink

videos4btc: Showing 4 photos with nothing at all to it will not get your clients attention. Allow the girls to upload teaser material, a profile, a guest book, ...
Generally have the first 20s of videos for free or do something else to get your clients hungry. As is, it looks like a cheap scam to get people to send you some coins.

ɃɃWalletScrutiny.comIs your wallet secure?(Methodology)
WalletScrutiny checks if wallet builds are reproducible, a precondition for code audits to be of value.

Thanks Giszmo! All the things you mentioned are in the works! Just getting it out there to start but I agree getting the clients hungry is a good idea!  Yes, was afraid people might think that :/ Thanks for the feedback.
